Its crazy that Boulder almost always opened first in PA, then vail comes in and now they aren't even a contender. Hell, blue fucking knob, the resort that runs off of redneck farts and fishing twine opened before boulder. Hopefully the park crew/groomers that worked at boulder park will start making parks elsewhere. I don't ride much park anymore, but when I did, the geometry and design of their jumps were incredible compared to everywhere else.

This is probably accurate. I dont think im gonna complain about them, and just be happy to be skiing the same mountain with the same people and enjoying some grown up bevs afterwards.

I think a day trip to Jackson Frost will be in order for me this season. Been a few years.

Its my opinion that since they have already announced staying closed Friday, they will be open for Sat and Sun. It looks like it may be a little moist for parts of Saturday, but i dont think its an all day steady rain at this point. Unless its pouring down rain sat am, i will be there skiing the same mountain with the same people for an hour and a half, and then hang out in the parking lot drinking beer and discussing current events.

Unpopular opinion time. Vail is operating these resorts very similar to blue ridge (prior to Peak). I think Blue Ridge technically still owns the resorts and they are operated under a lease agreement. In a way, vail is bringing JFBB back to their roots, while pumping in a ton of money. JF always used to open before BB when I was a kid. I think it is generally a good thing to focus on JF as it is by far a better mountain. Its nice to see some money put into these places. They were getting pretty tired. I, for one, am stoked that my childhood ski area (JF) has a pretty bright future under Vail. I get that park rats are disappointed, but it is what it is.

We did a lot of camping and hiking in the spring, early summer and fall. Still doing a good hike every week.

Even with Friday being better skiing than Sat or Sun I can't bring myself to take off work and drive 2 hrs each way for 3 x 400' vert runs that are "green", "may as well be green", and "would be green but saddled with park features". Maybe if I hadn't been to Hunter Saturday.

No how long have you been skiing for. In the spring it barely softens from 41 degrees this time of year it takes way more than that.

Sundays ice is gonna be nice.

Shawnee just reconfirmed plans to be open Sat and Sun 9-4. Assuming they make it through Saturday still TTB, I will be there Sunday

What weather source and location do you use for Blue forecast? This is Palmerton forecast for Saturday on Weather Channel app. And forecast is basically identical for all NEPA ski reguon. I again predict them being open Sunday only. Though if your point that they never open Sunday is valid, I guess that means they don't open this weekend. Hope to ski somewhere Sunday but won't head out Saturday for 100% chance of 1/4" of rain.

True. But Vail has taken away BB's identity removing most of the park stuff, so i can see why they arent real concerned with jumping right on having both open early season. im still blown away with the upgrades they did at BB.

Missed you in the camping thread momskeez.

Tussey isn't terrible. It serves the purpose and I've definitely had fun there in the past. Glad to see them getting involved with the Indy Pass, maybe it will get them some extra visits other than the small local area it services. As far as I know it's one of the only ski resorts in PA that has a local bus run to it.

I’m impressed with how well the snow held up. I can’t wait to ski the fresh chalky man made Saturday morning.

Sorry BenM didn’t mean to be rude earlier and they could get some decent snowmaking early tomorrow morning depending on how much the temperatures dip but tomorrow evening into Friday morning looks prime. I was looking forward to skiing Friday morning and the weather looks really nice that day oh well Saturday in the rain and Sunday funday hippie Sunday
