Another cold one. -4 when we left our condo, 9 degrees at lunch. But the sun was out today! Gondola not working this morning, had to take 3 lifts to get to the top , that was chilly could actually see views from the top today Don’t think she skied, just sat around the lodge wanting to look cute Glad I made the last minute call to bring the compression recovery legs. Currently sitting by the fire with a hot cup of tea getting a leg massage, feels good edit-didn’t realize you had to make a reservation for Aspen. When we went in for lunch I had 8 emails from Ikon stating I had reservation violations. Lol5 points

Forgot to mention yesterday was a pre-2019 weekday morning, where from 9-11 you just ride onto the lift with zero lines. Things changed in 2019, then in 2020 Covid destroyed weekday mornings as we had known them4 points

good thing nobody is over anylizing the multi mountain pass that may or may not be a scam.4 points

Here's my question for you though. Would you consider the 2 mountain pass next if it were reasonably priced next season? You haven't mentioned that at all.3 points
-
I got the email too and deleted it because 1) it looked fishy and 2) it could be an 18 cent upgrade (let alone $180) and I probably wouldn't do it.3 points

We brought lots of food to cook dinners and make lunches. Today was a turkey, cheese and avocado wrap. I did break down and buy a pack of M & M’s for dessert.2 points

Gonna hit Shawnee tomorrow PM with girls. They got 4" and opened a 2nd TTB route: Lookout (Blue) to Chief Thundercloud (Black). Will make for a bit more variety than just lapping Pennsylvania (Green) as we did last time.2 points

Woke up at 5:30 to the sound of sleet and looked out the window to see a nice coating of sleet everywhere. First 15 mins of drive was pretty spicy, then rain til mid county, then no precipitation til blue. I believe first civilian run down coming soon and it was pretty smooth and chalky, probably the best conditions I’ve had this season. Paradise was similar and from the looks of it there will prob be a lazy Mile opening soon. Smallest crowds of the season I’ve seen. Snowed lightly while I rode from 9-11:30 but started snowing pretty good by the time I pulled out of the lot. Drive up the mountain was spicy as I need new tires, but as soon as I hit Appalachian trail the roads were clear with little precipitation. Snowed from Whitehall to the turnpike and then all rain. also, unless this storm is supposed to pick up something serious later, 8 inches seems absurd lol.2 points

I knew you'd ride this storm, when I was thinking about it I was like tp4 will be there for sure....... No kids with their parents, the old heads are still there, we are, the diehard snow board dudes but the one group missing this year weekday mornings is no school age kids or their parents. In my daughter's school there are very few kids that are remote only so maybe that's it but so far even later in the morning it's empty.2 points

Yeah they weren’t called terrain parks they were called snowboard parks. The one season around the mid 90s Blue had a crazy deep base because it snowed alot plus they blew tons of snow I know they were 100% for Xmas. The Falls had like an 8 foot base and there was a jump carved out into the left side spine a nice side hit, to work on doing like a 70 degree air turn..I called it an airplane turn….ski patrol would say shit like,”keep your skis on the snow” and if skiing fast they’d say,”I wanna see some turns out of you”.2 points

I remember those no snowboarding days blue was one of the last hold outs and Finally allowed shredders aka knuckledraggers who referred to us as two planker wankers on the slopes for the 96-97 season. At the time I believe it was only Taos, Alta, Deer Valley and Mad River glen that didn’t allow snowboarders. There’s was so much growth in snowboarding during the 90s that a solid 50% of snow sports enthusiasts I knew in college were snowboarders. Then a lot of snowboarders became skiers as they neared middle age.2 points

Hey All, It’s almost another weekend, is anybody planning on skiing at Blue mountain the true mountains? Looks like sunny sky’s both Saturday and Sunday and some good snowmaking temperatures Saturday night. Gonna be a good one.1 point

Sounds like a plan we can even use our season pass holder benefits and save 10% off hot cocoa or maybe salty maybe you can just make us hot cocoa and bring it in your thermos go easy on the cream.1 point
-
Glad to see you two getting along. Maybe some day Ski2Live will leave the Pocono Mountains to ski with us at Blue Mountain and we can split a hot cocoa three ways.1 point

That’s how it was last friday, Monday and Wednesday this week. Fantastic stuff. The Covid season with the limited lift capacity there were often full lift line corrals very early into the morning session on weekdays. The only positive two seasons ago was that 22 was wide open on the drive up and now it’s slow traffic but still only adds a few minutes.1 point

For sure…I rented skis in 6th and 7th grade, not seasonal rentals like having to go to the rental shop every ski day. 8th grade I had my pick of my cousins old skis and grabbed a pair of K2 170 length skis and did a seasonal rental on boots. At the ski shop, Nazareth sporting goods the guy said the skis were antiquated and my dad said he was just trying to get us to buy new skis. Then the next season in 9th grade I bought brand new skis from Nestor’s which no longer exists. It was replaced by a store called Buckmans1 point

When they first built the parks they didn't allow skiers. My cousin and I got our passes pulled like 6 times an no amount of go read Freeze magazine or references to the new Canadian Air force would help. I feel like it was only one season but they have some dumb ideas. Blue doesn't realize they are using the wrong side of the ruler....8cm is way more accurate1 point

No time for Greek this weekend. Have events planned for Friday and Sunday nights. Will be skiing Shawnee with girls. Won't be all that awesome but will beat not skiing. Hope to hit GP later in Skison.1 point

Montage reporting 3" yesterday and opening with Cannonball, Boomer, Whistler to Lower Runaway and other minor trails. Not gonna head that far this weekend for limited terrain and not much fresh snow. But that is the 411 for those interested.1 point

I saw they have the mobile Troegs tap house getting pulled around the mountain again this year. That's probably the most important information for Montage right now.1 point

I’ll study the maps a little more but at one time lazy was a Blue/green which is an appropriate rating for it. Also they went from 921 vertical feet in 1988 to 923 vertical feet in 1991 must have been a new geological survey. I enjoy the maps thanks for posting Indiggio!!1 point

Thanks I like that Upper Razors used to be called mogul run. It was so wide open it was like skiing on the moon.1 point

I would need to ski 6 days at Camelback for this to make sense economically (based on what I consider the real value of a Camelback ski-day, that is). And those would be six days I'm not skiing Blue. Probably won't bite.1 point
-
shit i misread this. i thought you were a CBK passholder and got it. also 188 is way too much. maybe like twenty bucks.1 point
-
Cause Google is wrong in this instance. Blue is not on the Pocono Plateau. It is on a separate rodge south of that Plateau, just as Montage and Elk are north of it.1 point

So, I did two days at Thredbo in Australia this week. I would have liked to have done more but the 2.5 hours drive from hotel in Canberra was long enough to limit my days. Still was nice putting last year's Ikon pass to work abit more before our season starts in a few months. Wednesday was a glorious spring day with nice soft bumps everywhere. Today was a little bit of a different story as it rained most of the whole day. Overall Thresbo was a fun mountain.... It kind of reminded me of Brighton with fun rolling terrain but not a lot of steep stuff. Also, it had a little bit of the akwardness of getting from one lift/base area to the next. The overall vert is more than the Catskills but less steep... With the chairlift vert coming in at between 1400.-1800ft.. Downside for me was that the highest terrain was only serviced by TBars, so I only did that a couple of times(still hate them .. haha) Anyhow.. definitely a good time. If is would do again would try to go in late Aug versus early Sept as I was hearing from several people that the lower terrain had taken a beating in the last week or so from warm temps. Typically I was seeing the top elevation with temps of 2-3C and the base at 8-9C. Few pics attached..1 point
