  1. Hey All, I’m back from another fun session at Blue mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at 7:15 and it was in the mid teens with moderate winds. In the house were Atomic Jeff, JimKoval, JFDan, PARidge, Indiggio, Justo, Enjorales, Pops, VTMark, Salty, KevinThomas and many more people. First civilian chair on the quad and the guns were blasting on tubing, Razors, nightmare dreamweaver, skiercross, Raceway, upper Main Street, Barney’s bumps and come around. First run in coming soon was ok, decent snow but not super smooth. Lower paradise wasn’t that good, sort of icy and uneven. Raceway wasn’t open as advertised to you still have to schlep over to vista to ski midway to lower main. Midway was ok, a little firm and lower main they blew some water on. Was nice to also ski lower park. Lazy mile had the nicest snow on the mountain and the falls is intimidating. Toast would clear the whole thing, it’s like a ramp. Upper paradise was ok and the first hour was pretty crowd free then the crowds emerged. I skied just 8 runs and only one lazy mile run it was crazy mile. The people were spilling in and I think today will end up moderately busy. My toes were semi frozen for the first time this season and hungout in the lot for a few. Now at work and not motivated to do any work so just taking a shit, smoking a Bowl and gonna count money. Then go grocery shopping, eat weed pills and probably have some jack and diet stoke later. JADIPGSCMAP just another day in paradise getting stoned counting money and pooping.

  2. @Schifand I drove from Scranton. Took 80 to 309/33 to wind gap. Drove on Blue Mountain Drive. we passed “blue mountain village” . We never come that way so it was new to us. I’ve never seen so many rectangular houses on a pond. we pulled in to bleu and chatted with @Benmfor a bit Lines were slightly out of the gates with full corrals. here’s a photo I took as we were leaving to give you an idea of the scene We skied paradise and it was eh partially because it was so crowded Snowguns were full blast on razors and a few others. Excited for the new terrain then we skied coming soon which made paradise seem like a parrra parra paradise mike wanted to ski the chute to lower main, so we parted ways at met at the bottom, dodging gapers like it was frogger given the ice, we strolled to car. We chatted about cosmic tubing then BOOM black out. It was hard to tell if they were wooots or yells echoing in the distance. naturally, we cracked some beers and took a ziploc of leftover ham to watch the chaos ensue. Mike took the same photo but had night vision on his phone. It looks lighter but man was it dark. coming soon lights stayed on somehow. And as we watched, you could we people starting to ski down with flash lights. Power was maybe off for 10-15 minutes or so. definitely a night to remember 😂

  3. I thought today was pretty good with the exception of maybe p dizz and certan areas on lazy that were slick. Lazy, right before and through the turn though was $$...like silk. Midway to lower street was fun for getting some speed and falls was ok. The narrowness has me worried that newbs coming out to ski over the holiday week will end up in the ditch either side... especially when the crowds pick up. But the "experts only" sign was posted which will no doubt deter them 😐. Curzis cabin wasn't open btw. Either way... good morning with a good crew as always. Back to reality for me until Friday which is fixing to be a good one. Perhaps a night sesh or two this week until then!

  5. We made a pass over to Chute/Midway and I noticed they still had the guns going on Racewidowcurzi and figured the groomers didn’t get to it for the open. We rode up Vista after to check out the top. They’ve got a couple of whales already up there. Latest news is that they’re waiting on PA for clearances and hoping for next week sometime, but I’m not holding my breath.

  7. All good points..owning and operating a ski resort seems super stressful so hats off to those who show up earlier than us to get the place up and running and the people paying $115 plus $40 rental plus $25 lunch plus $75 gloves lucked out big time today and got all our parking spots in a 30 second fury.

  8. Beautiful morning, was cool having some folks to carve around the hill with. I’m a bit slow on the tele gear yet, maybe I’ll dust off the alpine gear one day to ski with this group. conditions are good for what Mother Nature has given us so far. I just wish they wouldn’t process and grind up the ice they blow. Blue does a nice job though, considering the relatively high temps they have to make snow in. We get what is expected when they open their season so early. see y’all soon. Will try to get out for some morning laps later this week.

  9. Schif and I had a morning of friends and family holiday stuff. Since we’re driving to Philly, we’re making a stop at Bleu. Hope the power doesn’t go out again…. We’ll be there at 3:45 to dusk likely. Maybe we’ll see you, @Benm

  10. The cold coupled with the media hype I'm sure hasn't helped them so far this holiday. This is going to be a great week wether wise upcoming however so hoping they sell lots of $115 tickets to make up for it. Skiing is no longer a walk up, purchase ticket, go skiing kinda thing. You can but it'll cost you $$. The folks complaining need to understand that.

  13. Bear was just into lot 4 at the top above the snowmaking pond when we left. Usually hit that around 11 or so on a Saturday so not too bad. Like you, get spoiled not standing in lines skiing early.

  14. Overall a real good day, save the crowds that caused us to bail around noon. Chute to Main Street was a hoot, high speed right into some super grippy fan snow into icy Lower Main was excellent. Lazy and Paradise did have the best snow except for Coming Soon first few runs. Evidently the mountain has lost power and people are bitching big time at the lift ticket prices for the week on FB. And Blue is deleting posts about people bitching about lift ticket prices! 🤣

  16. Snowbowl is forecasting 46 inches over the next 10 days. That's what we average in an entire season.

  17. There's a very good reason the official PASR start time is 8am. The snow was garbage. Interesting to see the place lose power. Very cool sight when I was staring up at the mountain in the dark and all the lights popped on at once. Definitely not something you get to see often.

  20. Pretty nice morning. the headwall (i guess) before the turn on lazy was the best snow. i forgot Chute was open. If i skied it, it would be like the 3rd time ever. i think Chute would be a nice trail if it had some trees in it. i keep forgetting.....Why do we give a fuck about how much lift tickets are?

  21. When I was in 6th grade the price through ski school was $14 for lift ticket, $19 for lift ticket and rental and $21 for the first time on skis package which was vista chair lift ticket, lesson and rental. The transportation was free thanks to the Allentown school district taxpayers. They used to have mens night, ladies night, ski club night all for that Sunday night special price. I think they should throw in a few specials for the new and casual skiers and riders. Maybe like a throwback Thursday or Tuesday a few days/nights during the season and some sort of special for winterfest which sadly I usually miss because I’m in Jackson hole but it looks rad.

  23. Those snow making machines need all the cold, dry air it can get. The cold is such a blessing.

  24. For the first time this season there is a wait to get into Blue mountains Estore. I guess alot of people are spending that Xmas cash. The price for 8 hour lift tickets beginning at any time. They don’t have the 4 hour lift tickets anymore. I think the 8 hour ticket makes people stay longer so they spend more money.

  25. Fun day despite the cold..Lapped Midway/Chute/Lower Main most of the morning....With the lift not spinning yet it keeps the crowd off it...Overall nice conditions....12 degrees when I pull out of the lot...

  28. BC 12/26 trail report. Rolled in at a bit after 8:30, 17 degrees and a blue bird day. Parked in 3rd row, fairly light crowd early. First few runs of the season on Kodiak and the snow was very nice, firm, and could set edges anywhere, not a trace of ice. Went to F chair side- Broadway had great snow top to bottom. Polar Bear also nice fluffyness. Timberline was a bit too firm for my taste. Grizzly was very nice side to side, in fact ROTD was skiers left of Griz and then cut over and down skiers right of Broadway. Extreme and Sasquatch not open yet. Lines started to build around 11 or so, decided to call it a day around 11:14. All in all a great "opening day".

  31. Left the in-laws early to get back and ski tonight. Got back around 6 and dropped some shit off, changed, and headed out the door. Walked up to truck andddd keyless entry didn’t respond… which isn’t entirely uncommon. Proceeded to unlock with keypad and hopped in. No key in range. Fuck. I guess keys weren’t in jacket as I thought. Walk back to door. Double fuck. Door is locked. Now patiently awaiting rescue.
