Hey all, I’m back from another morning session at Blue mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at 7:16am and it was in the low to mid 20s under mostly cloudy sky’s with light winds. In the house were Atomic Jeff, JFDan, Dirtwolf, Indiggio and BenM. Second civilian quad to coming soon which was ok..not that smooth. Lower Paradise was vastly improved from yesterday. I thought upper Paradise was real good and lazy Mile was variable some slick some ok and the Falls was good. Curzis Raceway dead husband was open which made access to midway to lower Main Street slightly faster. Midway was pretty nice and left side of lower main wasn’t bad. There were way more crowds yesterday than today, I think alot of people have work today the first hour I managed 7 runs and no Crowds on the runs and the next few runs had some crowds on the trails but manageable and no liftlines. It was actually less crowded than some weekday mornings due to the 8am start. After skiing hungout in the lot a little bit, had one beer and now heading into work. JADIP. Ski some of you tomorrow.9 points

Dunno if we are gonna trek all the way up to N.Vt for Fri-Mon turns now that Sat-Sun look like a washout there. More likely do Catamount Fri and hope smaller chance of rain at B.East on Sat pans out. Maybe head to N.Vt MLK weekend instead2 points

There's a very good reason the official PASR start time is 8am. The snow was garbage. Interesting to see the place lose power. Very cool sight when I was staring up at the mountain in the dark and all the lights popped on at once. Definitely not something you get to see often.2 points

Pretty nice morning. the headwall (i guess) before the turn on lazy was the best snow. i forgot Chute was open. If i skied it, it would be like the 3rd time ever. i think Chute would be a nice trail if it had some trees in it. i keep forgetting.....Why do we give a fuck about how much lift tickets are?2 points

Fun day despite the cold..Lapped Midway/Chute/Lower Main most of the morning....With the lift not spinning yet it keeps the crowd off it...Overall nice conditions....12 degrees when I pull out of the lot...2 points

Heading down now. Hopefully the outage got some ppl to pack up early.2 points

The guy that parked next to me said Friday January 13th. Anyways, pretty damn good morning if you ask me. Conditions were better than yesterday. Could conditions be better tomorrow than today? They wont have to groom Cuz's widowmaker raceway, thats for sure. that shit was firm. The people that like to stop, stand around in the worst spot, or make a left from the right hand turn lane, are out in force on the slopes.1 point

looks pretty similar tonight. Early AM crowds were low, but came in a little later, and now.... oh, and there is a comment on Blues FB page stating the power outages were of the rolling blackout types. im not totally sure i buy into that, i have trouble believing they would just pull the plug with people getting stranded on a lift. granted, diesel back ups and whatnot, but still thats a huge risk assuming Blues back up anything is going to work well.1 point

I didn’t mention snowmaking and trail expansion. The snowmaking cannons were blasting on the east side of tubing, nightmare to dreamweaver, razors, upper Main Street and come around..Upper main could open tomorrow. I heard the new lift might open Friday. I don’t know which Friday. The rest of this cold spell I’m hoping they are least get started in switchback and challenge. It’s weird razors opening before challenge. If razors is closed for racing and challenge isn’t open yet, that’s no good. #SkierProblems Some years they’re barely even open now. New Years morning is always foggy I can tell you that and looks to be again this year. One year it was so foggy I put my right foot into my left boot…I thought I was being punked.1 point

The power outage after dark was really weird. I noticed that the lights in the parking lot were out and then all of a sudden everything but the little pod around the upper lodge and Coming Soon were completely dark. I think the weirdest thing was that while the power was out people weren't turning around to leave. They all just hung out in the corrals and waited to start loading chairs. There's no way I would get on a lift after a power outage, but then again I'm not someone on Christmas Vacation who spent $124 and needs to get every penny's worth out of that ticket.1 point

@Schifand I drove from Scranton. Took 80 to 309/33 to wind gap. Drove on Blue Mountain Drive. we passed “blue mountain village” . We never come that way so it was new to us. I’ve never seen so many rectangular houses on a pond. we pulled in to bleu and chatted with @Benmfor a bit Lines were slightly out of the gates with full corrals. here’s a photo I took as we were leaving to give you an idea of the scene We skied paradise and it was eh partially because it was so crowded Snowguns were full blast on razors and a few others. Excited for the new terrain then we skied coming soon which made paradise seem like a parrra parra paradise mike wanted to ski the chute to lower main, so we parted ways at met at the bottom, dodging gapers like it was frogger given the ice, we strolled to car. We chatted about cosmic tubing then BOOM black out. It was hard to tell if they were wooots or yells echoing in the distance. naturally, we cracked some beers and took a ziploc of leftover ham to watch the chaos ensue. Mike took the same photo but had night vision on his phone. It looks lighter but man was it dark. coming soon lights stayed on somehow. And as we watched, you could we people starting to ski down with flash lights. Power was maybe off for 10-15 minutes or so. definitely a night to remember 😂1 point

They were starting to push around the bottom of razors. Had some big, big piles all the way up. @JFskiDan1 point

Schif and I had a morning of friends and family holiday stuff. Since we’re driving to Philly, we’re making a stop at Bleu. Hope the power doesn’t go out again…. We’ll be there at 3:45 to dusk likely. Maybe we’ll see you, @Benm1 point

BC 12/26 trail report. Rolled in at a bit after 8:30, 17 degrees and a blue bird day. Parked in 3rd row, fairly light crowd early. First few runs of the season on Kodiak and the snow was very nice, firm, and could set edges anywhere, not a trace of ice. Went to F chair side- Broadway had great snow top to bottom. Polar Bear also nice fluffyness. Timberline was a bit too firm for my taste. Grizzly was very nice side to side, in fact ROTD was skiers left of Griz and then cut over and down skiers right of Broadway. Extreme and Sasquatch not open yet. Lines started to build around 11 or so, decided to call it a day around 11:14. All in all a great "opening day".1 point

Overall a real good day, save the crowds that caused us to bail around noon. Chute to Main Street was a hoot, high speed right into some super grippy fan snow into icy Lower Main was excellent. Lazy and Paradise did have the best snow except for Coming Soon first few runs. Evidently the mountain has lost power and people are bitching big time at the lift ticket prices for the week on FB. And Blue is deleting posts about people bitching about lift ticket prices! 🤣1 point

I thought today was pretty good with the exception of maybe p dizz and certan areas on lazy that were slick. Lazy, right before and through the turn though was $$...like silk. Midway to lower street was fun for getting some speed and falls was ok. The narrowness has me worried that newbs coming out to ski over the holiday week will end up in the ditch either side... especially when the crowds pick up. But the "experts only" sign was posted which will no doubt deter them 😐. Curzis cabin wasn't open btw. Either way... good morning with a good crew as always. Back to reality for me until Friday which is fixing to be a good one. Perhaps a night sesh or two this week until then!1 point

Santa sprinkled some Covid in my stocking so I haven’t been up to Bear yet. Hopefully this weekend.0 points

Left the in-laws early to get back and ski tonight. Got back around 6 and dropped some shit off, changed, and headed out the door. Walked up to truck andddd keyless entry didn’t respond… which isn’t entirely uncommon. Proceeded to unlock with keypad and hopped in. No key in range. Fuck. I guess keys weren’t in jacket as I thought. Walk back to door. Double fuck. Door is locked. Now patiently awaiting rescue.0 points
