What a turnaround for the last few days. It was pretty nice this morning. First two on Razors were amazingly grippy, and Main Street had fresh cord on it past 9am. Perfect temps and the sun was shining.5 points

It was good, snow was fast with lots of grip. Crowds were medium but mostly slow school kid types. Lazy was alot of dancing between the peeps and unevenness, main was better but lower was pretty uneven too. Was soft enough it didn't matter but I can see this morning when it was smooth it was very good. I'm going to try to get there tomorrow morning too if work cooperates. They had a big yellow fan gun on crazy early so they are at least are going to try to blow tonight.3 points

Tis a glorious winter wonderland here in Marble. Decided to go skinning at Buttermilk. Buttermilk logistic are so freaking easy. The main parking lot is right at the bottom of the lift. There are 3 skin routes, I chose West Buttermilk since it’s the easiest and this was my first real uphill day. About 1200’ of vert. The parking for W Buttermilk is right in the trail! You walk out of your car and step on the snow. Stopped at the top at the Cliff House for a little water break. Overcast skies but warm temps. 2 storms rolling in this week. Woohoo!3 points

Trying to keep my happy face on, but, the forecast is dismall. possibly some snowmaking oppurtunities this weekend, of course after it rains, but these small overnight sessions arent going to allow us to get the jam on NMDW. Meanwhile, it wont quit fucking snowing out west.3 points

Hey All, I’m back from another interesting session at Blue mountain the true mountain. Everybody was in the house except for Toast and Nancy. It was around 30 degrees and initially guns were blasting on almost everything except Razors. First run on razors was ok..mostly firm and mostly smooth. Next up was Main Street and the wet guns on tuts lane owned many people. Main Street was guns top to bottom and variable…some fast spots and some slow spots. With the guns blasting on lazy and the narrow section it was mad technical. Paradise also had guns blasting as well. The guns turned off around 9ish which is about when I went to the lot. it was a very good lot with sausage Sunday which consisted of soup, sausage, brisket, shrimp and pork..was most excellent. I got to ride the scooter again and the parking lot was way smoother than the ski runs. JADIP3 points

We saved First for last! All jokes aside it was super-tough picking a place to ski on the last day. We knew that we had to go high, had to be cautious of Sunday crowds and also beware of the cloudy weather with snow forecast. Will high be too high and get us into the clouds? Birg at 2600m was an obvious choice, but we lacked imagination to invent a third way of skiing it. Mähnnlichen is at 2300m, has many trails, but we’ve been there already, didn’t like occasional bare spots, and it’s a direct target for the crowd of Wengen… First is at 2500m, has fewer trails (half is closed actually), but is on the side, so less chance for crowds. Mähnnlichen is next door, and First is an hour away… We’ve been to Mähnnlichen but haven’t been to First… Do we want more yucky trails or less better ones??? This nightmare continued until one of us just shouted “I’ll go to First, and you can go wherever you want”. The rest barked back, but also exhaled and went out to get tickets. Woke up at 5:40, had breakfast, geared up (No rain? Cool!) and started for First. The commute was a train wreck. First bus - no show. First train arrives to the wrong platform. Display on the platform is in direct contradiction with the display inside the train. A human on the interchange station is directing traffic to Grindelwald to skip two trains and board the third one. It was fun! 15 mins late in the end. Got to Grindelwald… Such a contrast with the last year! When I was making jokes about lack of snow in Bern, I had no idea that Grindelwald would laugh back at us with its bare hills. Started our ascent… Went by a hotel with half brown kiddie slopes. What a disappointment it must be for some! Suddenly noticed that the peaks were not visible any more, and prepared for the inevitable… Higher and higher we went, passed two stations already, started to approach the cloud, and suddenly… snow! It was neither cloud, nor fog, it was snow, falling just over the peak! No precipitation whatsoever down below, and yet snow around the peak. Weird! Next thing we’ve noticed was that there was infinitesimal number of people on top compared to any of the past days. As it turned out, it wasn’t just because we came early. It was like that throughout the day, and for a few hours on one slope the lines were well in negative territory for we were the only people on the trail AND the lift. It was tough at first. Close to complete whiteout, worst thing were the rollers. That feeling of piste suddenly taking a dive from underneath you, and you brace for impact… But with every new track being laid, the contrast was getting better and better, and we could afford skiing faster. Today was the first day I regretted not taking warmers with me, got too relaxed. Yesterday’s basking in the sun with cocktails changed into “let’s take a quick break and go inside for a shot!” Speaking of breaks, I remember this place crowded so much that we couldn’t even get inside. Today - empty tables. It was totally weird feeling skiing Alps like you owned them. IDK where everyone was all day long today! Gradually the snow stopped and skies cleared. More people came, including the most remarkable group in the video. When I first saw them, I almost fell off the lift. Hey! Hah! Ein! Zwei! Drei! And chanting like this down they went moving in synchrony, regrouping and changing formations. The video sucks, from above they looked unreal. All in all, today was awesome! When you go skiing, you look for good snow, good weather, low crowds… I’d say that we got 3 of 3 today, for finally it felt like winter here. Left in the dark, skied for as long the lifts were spinning, came back in the dark again. And it’s the last day too. Bye, Jungfrau, it wasn’t ideal this year, but I feel like we’ve managed to get the most out of it. https://youtu.be/F1zb2HfG6qQ2 points

14k gallons of water in a month would be like turning on a typical kitchen faucet full blast and letting it run for more than 4 hours every day. That would be one hell of a toilet leak.1 point

They better go all out. I just checked the forecast. It’s depressing but not as bleak as last week. We should all be super thankful for the early cold and the Xmas polar vortex..today was like winter lite.1 point

They had one of the lower fan guns on early, I can't believe it was blowing snow but they seem to be going all out.1 point

That’s not that bad my business bills for utilities aren’t bad but the electric bill has gone up from about $100 per month to about $130 a month with the PpL increases. We have a dumpster so trash bill is high and getting higher. Phone bill has actually gone down with our new phone system..we have a lot of lines going and even a designated fax line that we also use for merchant services. It’s so fun paying bills…not1 point

I know that I compared my Nov or Dec to last year's bill and it was a significant difference with the same usage. I'm not sure who your provider is, but ours (PPL) had one of the biggest increases if I remember correctly. You might not even be using any more electric than normal. Might be worth looking at.1 point

@GrilledSteezeSandwich ski down was uneventful. My touring skis are fatter than my other ones. Always feels weird skiing on them first few times. Legs were a bit tired. @theprogram4 haha didn’t notice that. Guess someone really had to go.1 point

It used to be $310 a month only like 2 years ago, we get triggered when they raise it every few years. I couldn't stand being attached to neighbors. At least the neighbors in the trailer park have been decent lately. The one guy I argued with over his loud ATV last spring actually plowed me out a few weeks ago so I bought him some Christmas chocolates. Trailers get a bad rep but keep it nice and modern and it's a simple and cheap way to live. My great aunt sold her $250K house and bought a brand new trailer because it's much simpler to maintain.1 point

$365/month for a house is amazing. Id rather live in a trailer home than an apartment…bigger and no attached neighbors. I thought I made out paying $400/month for a house in Conshohocken1 point

Got an early night session in today..Snow was surprisingly good...There's just not a lot of it...All the steeper stuff there skied OK....but had to be aware of thin spots...Felt like a spring night....They must have had a busy day cause the lower and part of the mid lot were pretty full when I arrived at 5:30....Lift line was about 5-8 min....Can't remember the last time I skied at night....Haven't been there in like five years...Good to ski there again....1 point

The plan was to go to Winter Park with a bunch of girlfriends. It ended up being just me. got on the gondola shortly after 8:30 and people definitely slept in. Did 2 hours of non committal bumps on the sides of the runs. Light pretty flat, very windy at the top. Then I scoped out a forest road for winter camping near the resort. They will let you camp in G-Lot, but you have to keep it super low key. No fires, no cooking outside etc. We keep talking about doing an overnight. The place I checked out looked pretty good. Have to see if I can get the final word if it’s legal. nice big spot at the end of the plowed road.1 point

Me and mark are pissed his parents bought his bat shit insane crazy uncle (my former Roomate) a trailer home. They should have given that asshole a fucking cardboard box under a bridge. But yes I never understood why people bashed trailer homes yet were ok with apartments. The bad rep comes from bad neighbors and crime, but apartments have those too0 points
