  1. Another night session in the books...Conditions took you from zero to hero in one run.....But conditions shouldn't be like this in January...Got two NASTSAR runs in....Lift lines started to get painful around seven ....Fun night again...after many years of not riding at night it feels good to be out at night again....

  2. Or, just don't charge $20 to your loyal customers for a card that costs pennies.

  3. Pretty stupid that they're open at all today.

  5. Last night was my favorite kind of night sesh with soft spring snow everywhere and relatively light crowds. Arrived around 6 and was the last to get on summit safari lift at close back up to the top lot. Lapped coming soon ditch pretty much the whole time with a few sends off upper upper mixed in here and there. Forgot to add that on one ride up the quad, heard the unmistakable sound of a car accident. Turns out someone didn't look pulling out of bottom lot and got slammed by someone driving down Blue Mountain Rd. I think the wooden fence across the street from the entrance may have some damage.

  6. Well, there was a fair crowd at times at the new lift. It's a pretty poor layout, having the readers so close to the lift. Whomever designed that wasn't too swift. When it was crowded, the attendants were "attempting" to group people who were already in the two-person grouping lines. It was a cluster and nobody was listening to them when they would try to get people to fill up chairs at that point, yelling at them to "GO! Fill up the chair!" They also put the SP trailer too close to the readers, so there's no real way to expand the reader lines, so they put up a fence which screws up that entire area. It's like they didn't even give any thought whatsoever as to how it was going to work or include any ideas from anyone who actually uses the lifts.

  7. I had been using the original card up until last season. The readers seemed to be having an increasingly hard time reading it, so I had them swap the card out with a new one and haven't had a problem since. FWIW, the readers at the new lift work incredibly well.

  8. Pass holders should at least get a "replacement credit" on their account for every year they haven't needed a mid-season replacement.

  9. 4 hours for the low economical price of $60 to ski in the rain

  10. Had another fine day at Blue today. Got 2 runs on Razors before race team closed it. Nice snow pretty much all over. ROTD was TCS, nice soft snow, then natural bumps formed on the head wall. Hopefully they stay open tomorrow.

  11. I took a nice drive up 322 to visit a cousin at Penn State and ski Tussey. I made use of my Indy pass (finally) and with another friend we took advantage of the 2 for 1 college ticket monday which is pretty rad that they offer specials on a holiday. A bit of a line for the two lifts formed early afternoon but it was not too crazy I thought considering schools had off. Blue sky day and the sun had softened the snow up nicely except parts of the Deer Run green from the top (narrow shaded cut and the only green from the top today so it got skied off) and Upper Tuscarora (double black with massive whales they just opened for the season). The hill is actually a bit steeper than I imagined. It is a consistently steep pitch down 400-500ft under the quad. From the quad the green would be a blue and the blue a black at a lot of other PA areas. The beginner slope at the bottom is a good setup but it is really a big step up to send beginners down from the quad after that- narrow, crowded, slick and kind of steep. If they were to get that outer Lions way green open in this wacky weather that might be a better less steep next step and way to spread the traffic. They had some jumps set up at the bottom of the one blue. Classic sort of lodge with a fire and that ancient quad lift are fun. Fun place with everyone just having a good old time skiing for a few hours. That T bar straight up the side would be a wicked ride...

  12. Definitely both days. Probably not cooking with iffy weather Sunday. We'll see.

  13. Of course that's the RIGHT way to do it . . but that's why I said "at least". 😂 $20 charge after one "courtesy replacement" (if you are lucky, it seems) isn't even the least

  14. Hey All, I’m back from a quick morning session at Blue mountain. A very slow drive with 22 backed up and I arrived at the lower lot at 8;37am and it was 44 degrees under mostly cloudy sky’s. I’m the house we’re atomic Jeff, Oz, C1 and all of Bethlehem fords crew. First run on a very smooth and semi firm razors…was very nice and repeated that. Then up the super summit safari six back and skied Main Street which was softer cord than razors on the top and full on spring snow on the lower part and a bit slow. Widowmaker was closed for racing from the top with Marty setting gates so next run skied upper come around to connector to lower Widowmaker to midway to lower Main Street. Was decent. Then did another Main Street from the top and finished with Razors which was still real nice and they were setting up gates on Razorback for the special Olympics. All in all a fun AM session. I think tomorrow will be a rainout and I’ll either be back Friday AM or Saturday AM.

  17. I wish I got out yesterday before rain hit. Was in the LV for work and couldn't swing it. Felt like it could've been a springlike night sesh

  20. On Sunday after my walk I needed to do some business so I toured the snowtubing area and found they have a lot more bathroom stalls over there. I think the ski area only has 3 private stalls but snowtubing had like 6. That was so rad. It's worth the extra walk but someone still sat next to me so I was triggered

  22. It's just a little thin but speak of the devil. He did one push down from the piles on NM and one up from DW and it's one groomer width wide so assuming he does another down it should be at least two or 2 1/2 widths. I can't see the bottom but that looks like the thinnest section. My guess is push it out, let it rain and it opens Friday.

  23. Winter might show up next week. Or it might not. the buoy is bouncing around for like next fri-sat. Not sure how reliable it is now that they flushed the dirty diapers out of it though.

  24. @GrilledSteezeSandwich I toured the snowmaking retention pond today. We need some rain to fill up the ponds. This one looks a little low.

  26. Very spoiled here. There was one 5 min wait in Ajax lift. The rest we skied right on.

  27. The tour we had decided on did not look good from an avalanche perspective on the topo map. Lots of slides lately so we wanted to keep it mellow. Found a spot near the Reudi Reservoir 30 miles outside Basalt. Did not see another person today so that was nice. Did 2 miles up and 1300’ then turned around.
