Fun day at Elk Mountain! Conditions were far from perfect but pretty damn good considering how this winter has been. Only a couple closed trails, and they were blowing on a couple. They had blown a couple inches into the bumps on Tunkhannock overnight and it skied great. Even in the afternoon it wasn’t too icy. Definitely some icy spots on some trails and a few skid marks, but that’s to be expected considering the weather lately. Run of the day was Tecumseh. Snow and grooming was NICE on that one. Chilling with a brewski now and going to dinner at my spot Dino and Francesco’s tonight. Nice little day with the family.10 points

It's been a while since I've taken the skins out for some uphill so I decided to finally do it with the Indy pass for the first time this year. I headed up to Shawnee this morning and pulled into the lot around 9:00. Temp in the lot was 54 degrees. I had shorts on under my snow pants and the vents opened to the climb. All I wore was a long sleeved tech shirt with my jacket in my pack. if it got cold. Booted up, redeemed my ticket, and was on the snow around 9:20. 20:04 seconds later I was at the top. Lots of kiddies and ski patrol out today for national ski patrol day or something like that. One thing I love about Shawnee is that the SP are super friendly and I've always had some of them stop to talk with me as I'm skinning up. Skied down the terrain park and back to the base, then put the skins on for another lap. 19:48 later I was back at the top. Another lovely skin lap. I ended up just skinning two laps and then take some lift runs as well. Quite a lovely morning and I look forward to getting back there again soon. I could care less about 100% terrain open when skinning up and only skiing a few trails. Truly good times. My one complaint is that I forgot to bring some seltzers to drink at the top. Better luck next time. Cheers.10 points

Today was good at Blue and also pretty good over at Eagle Rock, even though my stop over there doesn't count as a second ski day. I arrived at the lodge around 12:30 and hung out with my brother for a while. Was nice to just chat and hang out. Eventually I got the gear out of the car and got it on the snow. I put the split board in touring mode and shuffled up this little ridge next to the lodge to get the feel for it and it came much more naturally than I expected. Since the lodge is at the top I ripped off the skins, reconnected the board and headed down. There was a trail there called halfpipe that is not really a pipe but has sloped walls on both sides. That was really fun to noodle around in, then I dropped down their only open diamond called Predator. It's got a nice sustained pitch and is somewhat steep. Kind of like a longer Chute. I took the super old wooden seat double up and rode down the only other route to the bottom which is a green that drops into a blue for a little switchback and a decent pitch to the bottom. At the bottom the transition to tour mkde went really smoothly and while I was switching bindings a kid had a fantastic yard sale to the side of me, probably slid 100 yards, but he seemed ok and was laughing with his friends about it. Toured back up that same trail. 0.64 miles, around 425 vert in 23 minutes. Gear felt good, super comfortable. Bonus pic of a cool looking train I saw in Jim Thorpe.8 points

Another great day at CB with Barb. Cold start, but sun was out in force. Nice fast groomer runs off of Paradise, and then some trees and bumps down at East River before lunch. Ran some laps off of Silver Queen after lunch, some slicky slicky but still edge-able, dipped in some trees, played in some bumps. Trees are pretty tight at CB, so probably spending more time in the bumps. legs feel way better today. My Iphone 2 is circling the drain, and the battery goes dead really fast, so picture time is limited to first thing in the am, or right after i can charge it a lunch, so pics are pretty limited. Hey All, I’m back from a fun morning at Blue mountain the true mountain. In the house were Atomic Jeff, Johnny Law, PARidge, Schifdawg, Mute, Enjorales, Boo Bear, BenM, Indiggio, Salty, Bethlehem Ford Guy, Mixilplix, Harold and many others. First run was my first run of the season on Challenge, only about 2 months late..you had to stay in your lane as there were multiple ridges, better than expected. Next run was nightmare to dreamweaver and it was dark and fast, the first corner was slicker than the last corner. Main Street was variable and some cookies and word was that the chute was good and Switchback had a big mother fucking booster. Paradise was thick sludge..not good and coming soon was alright. Lazy mile wasn’t very good but not that crazy and Yeti had some fantastic cord. All in all refrozen day after spring conditions but due to the lock of snow in the flatlands it wasn’t that busy. The temperature was in the mid 30s rising into the low 40s but never felt that warm with the winds. Ski everybody tomorrow.3 points

Girls 1st trip down White Lighning today. No falls. Good time to give it a try when snow softened up this afternoon and it had been recently groomed. Tells me they can now ski anything in PA when conditions are decent.3 points

Big shout out to @mute1080 and @Mixilplix for helping me with the skins.3 points

Coming soon seems to be ROTD most days... now they just need to move those snowguns (and lighting)to the rest of the mountain.3 points

F is the top of the one side, you can get off and turn immediately right and be at top of Grizzley, turn immediately left and be at top of Extreme, turn left and very short distance to top of Sasquatch. Straight off lift and turn right and you are on Broadway. Elevation at top of F is just slightly lower than going up A or B. Yep, going down Sasquatch entails a ride on A or B to get back up. You can do Bear Pass and head by family park and then uphill poling to get to Sasquatch (only on really nice Sasquatch days!!) or do the Broadway to F and back up loop. Actually helps keep traffic down on Sasquatch as you have to loop to run it multiple times.2 points

Perfect, sunny, warm solo day at CB. Ran the groomers until about 10:30, then dabbled in the woods and bumps in between trails, while trying to keep myself out of liftlines, as it got pretty busy, or at least busier than its been. Using the singles line was a 50/50, sometimes it was faster, sometimes i watched groups of 4 just cycling by. 2 observations here. its very infrequent to find someone skiing something they shouldn't be on. Maybe this is at most resorts out of our area, but it sure is a nice break from human slalom. And there are a TON of little people half my size here that just rip this mountain up. Barbs neighbors kid is 7, and supposed to be just at another level. Met alot of Texans, and a bunch of people from Telluride. weather might start to get a little more interesting depending on what forecast you want to believe, but most of them point to tues/wed for some decent accumulation. I leave Wednesday, but the flights in the afternoon, so i will probably add a day to my pass and ski in the AM. time will tell on that one. At lunch i was running the numbers as to how much each run is costing me based on what i purchased the 6 day pass for, i had an outstanding revelation that had i gone ahead and got the Epic pass, i would have saved 20% on my lodge food probably totaling up to a whopping $25. So to offset that i am drinking as much of their free water as possible. More sun on tap for tomorrow, and hopefully lower crowds. Jadip 2 crappy pics coming up.2 points

I thought switch was good for the booter alone, plus the cookies got smaller as you went down.2 points

You've spent too many years and Jack Frost and not enough at blue my friend. Challenge was like a giant ruffles potatoe chip with it's weird ridges in between and switch was a cookie field2 points

I like to hang out along the edge, that way I can bail out if needed I can do soft snow bumped up no problem. Don’t have the rhythm for seeded bumps. I can’t dance either2 points

On very very empty and fast days you can make it to F from Sasquatch if you carry enough speed with minimal skating required. Those days are far and few between though1 point

My vote is that with the whales sitting there for a week the grooming will turn out great on Challenge and SB.1 point

Conditions were surprisingly good given the warmth and strong wind. Razors was closed, nightmare/dream Weaver, lost a lot of cover, but freefall was in pretty good shape, as well as the run out on paradise. Main Street was in pretty good shape at the start of the day, although it was getting cut up around 11. Lower Main Street remained very consistent. A lot of action on Barney’s Bumps.1 point

Put on a little bit of a show today. First time on a bump run in 5 years. But with new short wood core skis and soft baby bumps, I figured it was now or never.1 point

Back to the topic. I won’t be there. Working Saturday, off Sunday. Just can’t take the weekend crowds. That being said, I wouldn’t go to JF or BB either. Or Montage. Blue has the best terrain around these parts.1 point

I better dabble in them before they turn to ice. I’m not great a seeded bumps1 point
