We left right from work yesterday and made it to Manchester from the LV in 4:29. No issues but did miss an exit for a 3 minute delay. Motel back porch hot tub was a perfect 104° and jumped right in after the drive. Arrived right at 9 to Magic and grabbed our wicket passes. Ticket lady did ask if the person I was with was a “advanced skier” as it was very firm to start. I reassured her that yes she is and it can’t be worse than Blue Mountain. First two runs were firm but nothing crazy. Currently 46° but feels cooler. Groomers turned to corn after an hour and everything was soft by 11. No double blacks open but single diamonds are thin and spicy. Grabbing lunch at Black Line Tavern and heading back out for an afternoon session. @Boo Bearordered a loaded baked potato and I went with a burger. Killington tomorrow.13 points

Conditions pretty good considering. All the slopes are pretty well smashed down. Just had the six pack going at the start, and then about a half hour later started up the quad. So we had two sets of nice clean slopes. Big brown spot on main street and nightmare Dreamweaver getting a little thin. Run of the day was freefall, if you didn’t mind paying the price on lower Paradise. Switchback and Nightmare tied for second. They were salting razors, getting it ready for a speed camp tomorrow.7 points

When i was in College, me and 2 friends drove to Canada to go skiing, basically in an ice storm all up the east coast. Where ever it was, Tremblant, or Mt St Savoir, or whatever, the lady at the ticket window kept telling us "very fast skiing". After 1 run my buddy said "very fast skiing my ass......this is ice cubes on top of ice". Terrible trip for skiing, good trip for drinking, as the drinking age at least then was 18, and we were all under 21.7 points

I ran from one to the other. I had always considered the Gunnison flight being a problem, and i must have been a little sleepy when i thought there was another DFW-PHL flight like an hour after my scheduled flight, but second look showed that was incorrect. i spent a small amount of time trying to come up with plan B, in case i got to DFW late, but the options sucked bad. So, yeah, i was the asshole on the plane yelling at people to get thier shit together and get off the plane or get out of the way. I was going to do whatever it took to make that flight.5 points

Got there early today. Did 2 runs before it was full on spring skiing. I love spring skiing, but not in mid February. Skid marks on Main Street, Lazy and Switchback already. 😩. Stuck to the quad later in the morning and afternoon. Challenge, TCS and Razors were nice. After 19 runs, my legs were done. Nice tailgate session afterwards.5 points

Had a blast last night. Arrived at top lot around 6 and went until close with perfect spring conditions. Groomed stuff was good as to be expected but the weird and obscure was the most fun. Spent a lot of time in the bumps and random ditches.4 points

Arrived 8:15 47° and cloudy. Started on Delaware and worked our way from left to right. Everything was groomed and skiing nicely. Lackawanna was the only trail with bumps and they were pretty nice. Hit it a bunch. Went in for Beer and food and when we came back out someone turned up the thermostat. 57° . We skied the Pine tree shadows as much as possible but coming of Wissahickon to sunny Snowbowl was like jamming on the brakes. One last run on Lackawanna was a workout, all the slough piled up in the troughs and stopped my momentum. Nice day all in all.3 points

HaHa this string is great! I literally just got back from Okemo and Mt. Snow. Skied Okemo Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Mt Snow on way home today. Monday Okemo was ok, basically hard pack/frozen. Skied primarily on main face and some runs on Jackson Gore. Tuesday was incredible, we were staying slopeside and had a dusting of snow. Went to top right away and 3 to 4" of perder and it was sweetness on the half shell. Hit from top down Sweet Solitude, Colemans and then Exhibition, we had maybe 2nd tracks on the run. Banged it 3 more times and then it was all cut up. Wednesday we went right up and it Jackson Gore, hit every trail and it was incredibly good! Hit South face two days and just ok, lots of much. Ate at condo with friends most of the time, hit Mr. Darcy's for some great burgers and local ales. Mt. Snow was not so good, thin cover, mushy, windy. NP as it was on way home.2 points

Blue is closing today at 4pm. The snowmaking ponds should be nice and full for a few hours of snowmaking Saturday morning and perhaps a return to winter late next week.2 points

Was a fantastic morning for Dan’s last day. Got in line at the Queen at 8:40 and since it’s a powder day there was a small line. Visibility from the top was terrible, snowing hard. The viz on Paradise is always bad on cloudy days. So I tried my usual trick and went right down to East River. Much better down there, and narrower runs w trees on the sides so they help. For me, I felt it was the best I have ever skied in powder. I was playing it conservative as I wanted to break the streak of bad voodoo and season ending injuries while Dan is visiting. The snow was heavy-ish and work to push thru but really really fun! Nothing had a lift line. No action shots as I didn’t want him to have to wait for me. I realize the picture game has been super weak. But I have some girls visiting and we usually stop and take more pictures of each other so will do my best to step it up soon. Chris Tomer just put this forecast in his blog 😍😍2 points

You would recognize my boards, on skiboards, not really skis. Told the wife that we did "like driving to Vermont without the drive" but it was with the drive and Vermont. First time at Okemo in like 25 years, what a change! By the way, the new Carinthia Lodge at Mt Snow blows big time. Designed by someone that never skied before. Used to be a nice quaint out to the way spot, now a huge overbuilt and difficult to get around in!1 point

I somehow missed this the first time around. Blast from the past, I remember this song from music class in like 3rd grade.1 point

De-icing. Gunnison is a neat little airport since they re-did it, its alot like JH now, just not as over the top. So they dont have a lot of flights go out. So the people at the counter who check your bags, are the same ones that handle boarding as well. But it kinda runs at a slower pace.1 point

Fuck that jazz…I want it to be a high of 36 and a low of 26 everyday like Blues website has been saying since November.1 point

But wait......it gets cold next week! Its like the umpteenth time we have gone through this cycle, looks like cold air 7-10 days out that never comes in. I dont put alot of faith in forecasts that far out, but this year its been particullarly bad, almost always trending warmer. Dont even think for a minute we will see snow either of those two days either....lol. Sounds like this warm/rain spell is really doing a number on things, But so glad they opened Challenge and Switch, rather than build up the base on the trails already open! The grim reality based on the trends, its hard to imagine we will have much of a season in March.1 point

Susuedo is a jam hot Sam, in spring they should do a day of nothing but Phil Collins jams.1 point

Challenge is really nice. Maybe ROTN. flat and carvable in the middle with bumps on the side. Main is also sweetness. Barney's are large and in charge. Festive atmosphere tonight. People singing on the lift. Susudeo by Phil Collins blasting at the base. Over dressed tonight sweating my ass off1 point

The stars are shining bright it's not crowded the snow is soft like a baby's bottom and the weather feels like the tropics. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love skiing in this. Only problem is it's way too early for it and the snow is melting like the wicked witch of the East. That said I'm going to make like Sheryl Crow and soak up the Sun tonight before the rains come tomorrow. Enjoy it while you can I guess right?1 point

What a fantastic dayat CB! Couple inches overnight and snow for most of the morning really filled everything in. I really wanted to step up my picture game, but my Iphone set a new record and was dead by 9:30 am. Snapped 2 pics from the first lift ride. ran the usual laps with a quick lap off the north lift before meeting Barb back down at East River. After we split up again i ran back up to the north lift to get a few more fresh laps there, then went back towards hard face for something a little more challenging. Big drop to get in, but rewarded with some deep turns. Down through some trees, and back to the Paradise lift. Didnt quite make the route i was looking for that @RidgeRacer and i took that dropped us down right on top of Rambo. It can get pretty interesting back there, its rocky and cliffy, and its hard to navigate, so i moved onto the frontside to finish out my day. Over at horseshoe springs i was rewarded with some untouched on a small steep face, after the trees, but had to hoof it out again. Very low crowds today, actually less then yesterday. Finished up on the frontside which wasnt crowded, and could easily find some nice soft snow on the sides of the trails. snow pics from Barbs after a phone recharge. Usually the mountain view. Not so much today quick session tomorrow then off to the airport.1 point

Very short session for me this morning. Fighting a head cold and the visibility was pretty bad. Started at Silver Queen but it wasn’t loading and we heard them say it would be an hour. So we had to skate back uphill to the Red Lady Lift. First run down Paradise and I couldn’t see shit. Took it real slow. Told Dan I was going to go down to East River to see if it was better down there. It was a bit. Took a couple from there then met Dan. I decided to just call it a day, didn’t seem to be my day. Dan took a few pics before his phone died. I only took a few also. Snowing hard now and will continue all day1 point

At BC for a late afternoon/evening session...First couple of laps had the snow was really soft and creamy..Once the sun set things started to firm up on areas less traveled...Just skied stuff off of the F chair....They got some brown stuff showing through a few places....and it's gettin thin on Extreme...Skied for about an hour and a half and had a super good time....1 point

Back relaxing at Barbs place after another fun day at CB. Switched up the routine this morning to hit the steeper groomers off Silver Queen first then over to run some fast laps off Paradise. Dipped in some trees to find some really crusty stuff with yesterdays warm afternoon temps. Went down to the trees off East River, which were better but getting firmer every day. Bumps are still decent, but kinda depends upon what side of the trail they are on. Lunch break around noon, and thats when the clouds rolled in and visibility was poor at best. Clouds yielded snow, went back to the frontside to the trees at Horseshoe Springs, which skied well, but there are a few rocky areas to avoid. Ended up in a gully that was up in either direction to get out, so worked off lunch doing that. Low crowds today, no Eagles jerseys. Looks like about 2" fell in the afternoon, and hopefully the overnight snow produces.1 point

Yeah wobbly barn, it’s not a buffet, it’s a steak house which happens to have a soup and salad bar. edit: looking at their menu, I don’t see any mention of their salad bar. Covid may have put an end to that. Id get the prime rib or strip steak or steak frites.1 point

Fun day at Elk Mountain! Conditions were far from perfect but pretty damn good considering how this winter has been. Only a couple closed trails, and they were blowing on a couple. They had blown a couple inches into the bumps on Tunkhannock overnight and it skied great. Even in the afternoon it wasn’t too icy. Definitely some icy spots on some trails and a few skid marks, but that’s to be expected considering the weather lately. Run of the day was Tecumseh. Snow and grooming was NICE on that one. Chilling with a brewski now and going to dinner at my spot Dino and Francesco’s tonight. Nice little day with the family.1 point

Finished up our time in Taos today and we had a great trip. Snowed 1 or 2 inches overnight which was a pleasant surprise and after 3 really warm days it was a little cooler on Friday. I skied with my kids all day Friday after they had done ski school for the first part of the week. They absolutely rip now and are going to pass me soon. Took them down Al’s run for the first time and they were both talking about how easy it was. Stepped it up after that to their first Taos double black (west blitz trees to spitfire chute to west basin) and they navigated it perfectly. Kids at top of Al’s kids skiing Al’s little man entering spitfire chute Daughter in west basin son in west basin son and I on Al’s1 point

I love what he did! And most of you here behave like a bunch of babies. You were all eager to bully him any way you could, and when he pushed back, turned bitter. He's "weird", "creepy", "salty-land", LOL. The funny part is that originally it wasn't even his idea to create a new forum, I think it was GSS to hand it over to him, but the way how he brought it to life was outstanding! Not a single foul word (other than fake Toast so originally telling fake GSS to STFU), no name calling or posting a bunch of harassing pictures, and nevertheless he apparently got to most posters with his satire, which is hardly a surprise because it was so damn accurate. Ironically, when I saw what he posted there, I was 100% sure that all of you actually came to that site for some fun on the new short-term playground. The hyperbola of most of the posts was obvious, but it nevertheless looked like you were just playing along. The only thing that was hardly believable was Matt's comment, and then of course I knew that my account was fake. If my memory doesn't fail me, there was GSS vaping up in his truck getting ready to read Salty's report, Toast telling him to STFU in between of random OKs 'cause GSS just "has to respond to every post all the time", someone teasing for the lack of stats (had to be GSS, but I'm not sure), Atomic pitching in and offering his SQL consulting services for a modest fee of $500/hr to get the stats section running, me going hysterical and calling him a snob, then Sally and me exchanging about the diva site again. That's all on top of the initial mockup with his section on CB and mine on MC. Most of the time he was just skimming the surface of some recent threads, and while sometimes it was annoying, it was neither deep nor deliberately offensive. Though I could tell how Toast's telling him to STFU months ago stuck in his head and created that fake exchange between Toast and GSS. I partly get the outbreak of hostility and the ban, 'cause hardly anybody wants to see a parody on himself, I got my share as well, but I still applaud the speed of execution, tech skills, originality and fantasy. And as for stealing the avatars, pffft, big deal, and it had to be done to make things believable. Again, hats off for a job well done. Even if you're not "talked about 5 years down the road", it's only because this will bring memories of your site back, along with the taste of awkwardness.1 point
