goes to show, that when you go to Blue with low expectations, you can walk away surprised. Today was good. Solid 7.5, which really could be a little higher based on thinking it was gonna be about a 3. Thought today would be but6 points

Arrived 845, booted and to the ticket window shortly after. Ticket window line to redeem my Indy pass was painfully slow and told Boo to take a run it was so bad. Got her pass the day before from the kiosk but they said I could only do the day of. Fresh blown snow with a coating from nature overnight was a nice start. Couple whales on the trails but all the trails were half width. Less than half of the trails open. No lines and trails felt empty which was nice. The quad chair had the longest line at a minute and is a trip to get on. Up hill for most of it and then wasn’t expecting first conveyer belt quad. Wow. Couple warm up laps and then we tried to figure out how get to chair 5. Missed the connector trail but made it over to Mars Hill and had fun lapping that. Couple more off chair 4 and the quad before calling it for lunch. Dropped our skis off for a wax. $22 hot wax for me and $55 light tune for Boo. Took food back to the cabin from Taverna and not bad prices for food for a basic cafeteria. Back around 430 and the skis were ready to go. They opened a couple new trails like Zeus and Marathon since the morning so it was good to get a different lap. Debated going to the Steakhouse but ate at Trax again and the food is on point. Whole menu looks really good. Back at it in the morning for hopefully more pushed out snow and terrain. Debating a double dip to Blue at night just to finish the trip off right.5 points

Hey All, I’m back from another fun session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at 721am and in the house were Atomic Jeff, Toast, NMSki, JFDan, MBike mike, Schifdawg, Nancy, Enjorales, Nastar Glenn, Salty, Dirtwolf, Bethlehem ford crew and a lot of people from New York and New Jersey wearing the boots with the fur. First civilian chair and NMSkis son even got to ride first chair with us. First run challenge looked bad from the lift and I skied it anyway and it was solid cookies…that was the only bad run I skied. Nightmare to dreamweaver was nice cord and I skied that twice followed by two on coming soon which had nice chalky fresh blown manmade. Then went over to the new super summit safari six pack and hit up raceway to midway to lower Main Street and very nice and smooth. I skied switchback twice and got mad steezy air off the lip where connector crosses between upper upper switchback and upper switchback. I also skied a run lazy to the fall and was ok at the beginning but got bad around the corner. I hungout in the lot about two hours. I bet I got some sunburn cause the sun was so bright. I skipped beer today cause I have some work to do today. I actually just bought tomorrows beer at Sheetz. It’s rad they sell Voodoo ranger there and it’s a dollar less for a six pack than Weis markets. Ski some of you tomorrow.4 points

FACT: $98 to ski Blue today was a better deal than $89 to ski Montage or JFBB.4 points

They sure were and I checked the webcams later in the day and still maybe 2 minutes. It was busy but a lot of the morning people were cleared out by 11 or 1130 so another group arrived and there was a big GS or Super G race on razors. One of the kids had a broken pole..I’ve had my poles for 9 years and they’re just slightly bent and so am I right now. this is a cool picture. There’s no Plumbing thread so I figured I’d gift you a picture of a double toilet you turd burgler!!! Feliz Navidad4 points

Headed back out after the pretzel break but the rain didn’t let up. Temps kept dropping and it started to look like snow at the top but still a wintery mix. Stuck to to the gondola to stay dry but we were soaked through after about only 6.5k vert. Didn’t get to the longest run with hearing Skyeship was down but we did do Solitude for a long run out. Holy slow. Left at about 1:30 for Courtland. Little spicy with frozen slush on the road to start but smooth sailing after Albany. Favorite thing I saw on the drive was a dental office in an old train station in Greene, NY. Greek Peak in about 15 minutes and looks like 17° and blue skies.4 points

Yeah. Lines were non existent at Blue. i was really surprised. Accidentally slept in. Someone didn’t set an alarm. Someone hit snooze. But got on the snow by 8:45am fortunately. loved cruzis cabin / main steeet / switchback. dream weaver and coming soon we’re good.3 points

I wonder if indy will have a 6th grade pass this year. I feel like skitoolives kids are in their 5th year of 6th grade.2 points

none that are native, plenty of people have them as landscape items, one of my buddies down here has a landscape business and deals with them a lot, apparently they can die fairly easily in the winter during prolonged cold stretches and people get pissed off their $1100 tree is dead after 5 months. Chute was $$$$$. I heard Midway was even better but I just love the consistent pitch of Chute so I skied it like 8 times. Also love the access the new lift gives to Widowmaker/Curtze's and that no one is ever there early on. Grate day2 points

Real nice at Roundtop today too. No lines and wall to wall coverage on the 80% of the Mt they have open. Nicer than Shawnee was yesterday though that wasn't bad.2 points

Snow was pretty sticky this morning but otherwise a fantastic Saturday morning. 30* and the sun was blasting on the freshly made overnight snow. Guns went off around 10 and no waits in A and B lift till I left at 12. Fun new park set up as well.1 point

Sounds good, been pre occupied with a sick family member. I was waiting for a quality day at Blue. Planning on some mid week days once it’s cold enough for some snow making weather. I’m old and value quality vs quantity . I’ve done my time on ice coast trails.1 point

When I worked at Eagle Rock in Hazleton, some idiot went down the double black on a snowtube. I wasn't there at the time but saw the video. He is lucky to be alive. @Schif Idiotic Eagle Rock story.1 point

I have not. Now that they've made the long journey to Cortland, NY to explore the mountain, maybe someday Mute, Ryan and also Pooh Bear will give me a tour of Greek Peak.1 point

That’s very fair and utilitarian of you. Maybe Mergelmersher will visit Pernservernia sometime to ski our famous hill stations @RajeevGuptaSucheeta1 point

It was good. Dark spot skiers left on the last straight bit before the dump to lower main, but the rest looked nice. Biggest coverage issue looks to be the skiers right edge on the last straight of Paradise before Weaver comes in. Like the entire second half is thin and the edge creeping in. Still plenty of room when it's not crazy full1 point

And thanks to Schif and Skinancy for the cupcakes. I haven’t had one in awhile.1 point

Not worth it unless you need a change of scenery. Less than half the trails open which is a bummer because the glades and bike trails look like fun.1 point

It’s like one of Tom Cruise early movies Risky Business…people get injured tubing and walking around Burlington coat factory looking for the perfect tubing outfit can cause tendinitis if you aren’t wearing supportive footwear.1 point

I have a buddy pass that no one has shown any interest in. First to reply to this post gets it. Don't want to leave any of my Blue Mountain benefits on the table.1 point

They were only charging $98 for an 8 hour ticket and 4 hour ticket was under $80. That’s a better price point for a holiday weekend in PA than the $120+ they were charging a few weekends ago when it was busy but not crazy. Blue has lucked out with some cold days..they repaired a lot of damage in a short period of time. Salty did hit a rock but he’s ok about it. The $45 four hour weekday ticket is a great deal and no liftlines on the weekdays. In the Covid ski season I was getting at least 2 less laps per hour on the high speeds due to the social distancing. Now everybody is back to screaming in everybodies face.1 point

Not sure where here is but I'm only seeing 70 degrees as the high for Malvern. A bit chilly yet to be bringing out the tropical plants. Maybe wait until it hits 115 degrees in mid March. Thanks Al Gore1 point

I think Solitude is a cross country trail like Juggernaut (now closed)? It's one I never plan on doing!1 point

Ugh if it sucks tomorrow morning head to Hollenbecks for donuts then over the hill to Cortland Beer1 point

I made that exact mistake and it's like half skating if not more. I have to believe it was an ASC idea so they could claim the longest trail.1 point

Awesome!! That's almost the exact same spot I parked at the Bear Lodge. The flat spot to the K1 Gondola is rough, I couldn't figure out a way to traverse to that side of the mountain without some skating and pole planting.1 point

Woke up to thunder and lightening this morning which was sad but quit by the time we left. Hour ride to Killington which had a 30 minute delayed opening due to weather. Parked at Bear Mountain which had maybe 15 cars. 45° but expected to drop 20° in the next 5ish hours. Little trouble redeeming the tickets that Boo won but they figured it out and we were on the snow shortly after. No rain on the first lift but the skies opened up on our Skylark/LaunchPad/Bittersweet to the K1 Express first run. Already soaked so we’re grabbing a morning beverage at the Peak Lodge and waiting for the rain to move out.1 point

Best skiing of the year today for the first hour, for me anyway. At least Main Street, Chute, and Midway were pretty good. After sausage fest, the conditions had deteriorated and everything was really choppy so I left.1 point
