Day 1 - Nakiska Up at usual time as back in PA, so no difference for me. Continental breakfast at the Comfort Inn included scrambled eggs, Canadian sausage, blueberry and chocolate muffins. Just over and hour drive out to Nakiska and the home of their Winter Olympics with the wind howling and 9 degrees. In the house was Slim, Drew, Gary, Gah skier George and George Jr. And old Blue Mountain groomer Danny in from Mt. Hood. Took it pretty easy on the first few runs to see what was what and check out the snow conditions, which was a few inches of fresh here and there with some hard pack around. Rode the lift with some Calgary natives who told us that we were lucky coming this week as the mountain was pretty barren just a week or so ago. They had just got about 12” last week which covered everything nicely. Lapped the Silver chair a few times and found some wind blow. By the tree line which made for some fun. It felt like home as there were racers everywhere! Got bored of the Silver chair and headed down to lap the Gold chair. The lift line had bumps galore, so we lapped that a few times. Decided to head to the Monster Glades and found ample stashes of powder in the trees. Broke early for a snack and since it was the first day and still had to drive to the house, grocery, beer and edible shopping. Peaced out around 2 and headed for the house in Canmore.12 points

Just got home from another day in paradise at Blue The True! Started the day waiting for the Challenge Express gates with GSS, someone whose handle escapes me from the Poconos and Salty trailing in the distance. The gates to the quad opened before the Challenge so I skated my way into a chair before the Challenge gates opened. ROTD was Switchback for the cankle deep man mad pow stashes followed closely by a freshly groomed late to open Nightmare to Dreamweaver. I'm not a big fan of weekend lift lines and crowded trails but the PASR company, delicious hand made pizza and parking lot shenanigans make it worth coming out for some turns. Nice meeting you all! Ski you Tuesday-Thursday or next Sunday!11 points

Interesting day at Blue today. started with a delayed open on the old six. Then NM/DW was being groomed so after a run down Paradise Hayata and I got two nice smooth passes on NM/DW onto a very wavey lower paradise.. We headed down Challenge to find a ski patroller yard sale near the bottom of the head wall, radio and all. We stopped to gather his stuff. and to ask if he was ok. He said he was alright, so we continued on. We got on the old six with another ski patroller who was headed up to help him, because after we left him, he called for assistance. We then skied lazy to the falls and found the falls to be a deep dark mess. Next run was switch back which was another deep dark lumpy teeth rattling mess, followed by two wonderful runs down a nice smooth main street, with a quick bump run in the middle. On our second main street pass, we stopped on the cross trail with about 15 other skiers, as we were standing there an intermediateish skier sailed through the group and unknowingly blundered into the bumps. He got lucky and only floundered over two bumps before they spit him out headfirst onto the smooth part of Main. On our second lazy to falls run, the falls was littered with people that the deep stuff got the best of. Spoke with GSS and got to meet and have a short conversation with Salty Ant. And had a ski by meet up with Mute, nice to meet both of you. Fun day as always at blue.8 points

Today was Pops triumphant return to slopes after his fall busted his knee up a couple weeks ago and we put in a pretty decent session then visit Last Run Lounge for an hour or so before picking the boys up from Adventure Camp. Super variable conditions all over the mountain but tried to find the best of it wherever we went. Pizza party tomorrow..8 points

Travel day yesterday was grueling. Park n Ride off 33 at 3am. 1st flight 630am, landed in Dallas barely had a layover. 2nd flight from Dallas to Missoula around 1230. On to the bus, quick stop for groceries, liquor store and place that won’t be named on a public forum. Got to the resort at dark, got all our stuff in. I got 5 tickets, we’re here for 6 days, so we decided to take today. Just checking out the resort and taking bus into Whitefish.7 points

A great day to end my skiing at Crested Butte. A day of milestones. Ski day 30, previous record was 26 and still plenty of season left. One year ago today I broke my knee. The best milestone is that I did my first steep tree run. Not a big deal for you pros, but for me it was an accomplishment. Too chicken to try with @JFskiDan but since my friends were here I felt good about it. As Dan knows, my friend Ilise is great in the trees so she guided us down. We did the trees off East River. Dan knows where they are. Before the tree run we did bumps all morning. Some pics Natalie Me. Could never get an action shot of Ilise since she is just too fast Ilise tree run I skied the top and “survived” the bottom. Natalie By far my favorite ski day of the season ❤️7 points

Hey all, I’m back from a fun morning at Blue mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at 715am and it was 26 degrees under overcast sky’s. In the house were Atomic Jeff, Toast, Kevin Thomas, Justo, Dime, Boo, Mute, MBike, Bethlehem Ford Crww, JFDan, BenM, PSUFly, Schifdawg, Pops, Enjorales, ZZSlopeX Hayeta, Dirtwolf, Matt Edge, Salty and many others. First run in challenge was decent and pretty consistent with decent cord, Main Street had nice snow on the top half and real sticky lower, Lazy mile was decent as was coming soon while lower paradise was filled with little rollers. The guns were turned off but production the previous 33 hours was excellent with the majority of terrain resurfaced. Crowds were a bit less than yesterday but still busy. This weeks sausage Sunday was a pizza edition and BenM took a lot of life style shots of Enjorales tossing dough. There was also shrimp. All in all a fun day with not the best conditions but better than not skiing. I’ll prob be back next Tuesday for opening. JADIP4 points

Day 2 - Norquay Up at O’dark thirty, coffee, egg & cheese bagel and banana. Picked the Expeditions and away we went about 7:45. Road to Norquay is a bunch of switchbacks but no problems and arrived about 8:45 or so. Temps were much warmer than yesterday, with lighter winds. Right off the bat some we’re having Ikon issues at the Cascade lift, so they headed back to customer service while the rest of us headed over to the Spirit lift and lapped some runs there. Some nice bump runs warmed us up for what we didn’t know was coming up later. Ikon issues resolved, we met at the Mystic Express and lapped some real nice bumps and semi-fresh snow in Bruno’s Gulley, Pristov’s Tale and Crosby’s Run. Decided to break for lunch, which meant we had to take the Spirit lift. Got to the lift and the lines were off the hook. The motor was going and they only loaded 2 of every 3 chairs. Decided to hike up to the main lodge. Luckily for Slim and I, we had hiking backpacks, so loaded up the skis on them which made the trek somewhat bearable. After lunch we headed up the donkey Cascade and headed down to the North American. A strange, old double that had groups of 4 chairs spaced some 100 or so ft apart. Liftie was telling us it’s one of the oldest chairs in North America. After a pretty pokey morning, this side of the place was like the Yang to the morning’s Yin. This side’s got some serious steep shit. Not only is it steep, but the runs are all bumps. First run was down North American and over to Boundary Line to check things out. The boundary line had gates out to the chute next to the boundary with avy danger signs all over, but the gates were open. Decided to pass and ride the bumps down Widowmaker as a tribute to Blue. Next lap followed the same route but curiosity got the best of us and we dropped into the chute to some beautiful, mostly untouched perder. This required another lap. Saw some interesting terrain off to the right of the lift so headed there and dropped down Gun Run, another serious steep, bumped run reminiscent of Jackson’s Tower Three, some great fun!! A final lap down the out of bounds chute and the legs are screaming, so called it quits around 2:30. Too tired to cook, so ordered a bunch of pizza from Res Rick pizza. Had some interesting selections, all were delicious. Time to finish an IPA and gummy up for tomorrow. Digs pic Races today Top of North American Looking up at Gah Skier George in Gun Run3 points

Pardon me for butting into your thread. Chair 4 down again today, resulting in long waits at the HSQ's. Fixed grip were ski right on. High winds meant that 21°F was quite cold. Hopefully fewer people this week, but I think last week with the closures means there is pent up demand. A woman on the chair told me they'd extended their trip because of having skied so little last week.3 points

Had a really fun day at Camelback yesterday with my cousin. Snowed most of the morning and did 18 runs spread all over the mtn on 4 different lifts. Crispy chicken sammy for lunch. The Sullivan express f*cking flys. The new 6 pack is a beautiful lift but might also be the most terrifying lift I’ve ever been on. Often makes hard emergency stops and bounces more than any lift I’ve been on. Bouncing what seems like 10’ up and down.3 points

Thanks for the info. We took today off after the marathon travel yesterday. Walked ALOT today. Took the bus into Whitefish, walked around , lots of stores closed. Came back and walked around here. We are at Morning Eagle. Fourth floor. I probably climbed up the stairs here 6 times. We really needed just walking and stair climbing. Skiing tomorrow, feeling a little anxious about visibility2 points

How come you flew into Missoula? Cheaper? Usually for me there's been no $ difference. Airport is only 25 minutes from the ski area.2 points

Thanks for the beer! good seeing you again as well.2 points

A run later there was a ski patroller in a sled on the falls and atomic Jeff was even talking about an injured skier. This is the kind of snow today where you don’t want to show off even if there’s a cameraman from You @ Blue on the scene.2 points

ROTD was running gunpow laps in the TCS ditch, worked up an appetite for BMDI bacon egg and pepper jack with tots on a Kaiser for the ride home On the ride up I saw a badaass camper a few cars ahead but I turned off on Grouse. It ended up in the lot across the street and had to check it out on the way out2 points

You are so lucky you didn't come sooner. Most of the lifts have been closed for days now. Wind chills around -45 to -50. It's warming up tomorrow. I skied today but that was the first time since last Thursday.2 points

It’s a group trip. I did not pick the airline or airport. I did see on Whitefish literature, you can fly into Glacier National Park. Sounds so much easier, maybe cost prohibitive for the group.1 point

It’s really fun mountain. Would love to get back soon on a weekday.1 point

Guess what SaltyPants..the snow is now melting which means the ponds are filling back up again and hopefully the temperature drops low enough tonight for a mini snowmaking assault before tomorrow nights weather event. We need a freaking blizzard..1 point
