Today was good. The new snow made the trails very nice and the place actually looked like a ski area. easy to grip and rip with the wet snow groomed in. Very enjoyable. 10/10 snow, imo. @AtomicSkier@mute1080 @Mixilplix@Dirtwolf were also there. ps- GSS please get your foot looked at if it doesn’t improve soon.14 points

Day 3 - Lake Louis Left the house at 7:15am and arrived at Lake Louis around 8:15am, with light snow flurries the entire ride out. In the lot we saw a heli-ski helicopter circling. Unfortunately we didn’t hear anymore the entire day. Much colder today, with temps starting out in the low double digits. The mountain and those that surround it are truly magnificent. Pictures never do them justice. First runs were lapping the Jupiter lift as there were Ikon issues again, but they’re better here as a radio call got them fixed. A few inches fell, so the early groomed runs were soft and fast. Headed over to the Glacial Express and up the Top of the World Express to find some 6”-8” had fallen at the top that made for a nice, smooth run down Helen’s and Kernahan’s. Back up the TotW and the sun was out. Decided to try the bowls now while the sun is out as the forecast called for clouds to roll in. Dropped into backside via 1st Gate and down Rodney’s Ridge which while already pretty cut up, there were pockets still there for the taking. After breaking for lunch, headed up the Larch Express, eyeing up Tower 12 and the Lookout Chutes. Seeing cliff signs all the ride up, decided to do some recon via Bobcat to check things out. Having not seen any real cliffs, went back up and down Tower 12. Big mistake. Lots of rocks and thin snow made it a rough go and bailed to other areas. Spent the rest of the day lapping trees off TotW lift. Morning view… Random pics… Elk by the road on way to dinner…13 points

I had about an hour and half around lunch time and it wad quite good snow. Fast and with alot of grip, minimal lumps for the amount of water in the snow. You can forget how pretty it can be when all the brown is covered up in snow.8 points

Had a nice first day at Taos Ski Valley. Kids are in ski school for the next 3 days so I skied a bunch with my wife and kids today. Was nice and sunny and about 3-4 inches of new snow to start. Kachina peak lift opened around lunchtime and we decided it was time to take my son up there. He skied Main Street to Nastar Chute and handled it great. Since that went well I could see he was ready for another extreme steep, Castor. Skied a lot of trees and groomers and all in all a great day. Got lots of pics of my son. Need to get the little son of a bitch to take some of me next time.7 points

Just got home from another day in paradise at Blue The True! Ended up falling asleep on the couch this mor ing after work and missing opening so figured I'd go take some laps after waking up. Arrived at the lower lot at 11:45 to see no signs of PASR life in the usual row. Kept on going to my safe spot and booted up. Was nice to see a blanket of fresh snow on everything and a seeming return or start of winter. Snow was great everywhere, no slick spots but it seemed to progressively get slower as the afternoon progressed. Managed 13 runs in with no particular ROTD. Every run was quite pleasant. The come around park had a bit of wonky rollers going into it today though, meh. All in all JADIP @ Blue The True.7 points

Went with low expectations since it seemed so wet but it was quite pleasant. Full grip and snow wasn't slow. Back there tonight so hoping it doesn't freeze solid.7 points

Just got back from day 2 at Taos ski valley. Was super windy this morning and lifts were on hold until about 10 am. Dropped the kids at ski school and skied a couple runs with my wife and mom before I decided to ski some woods off the backside. After that took a 15 minute hike up highline ridge and traversed over past the tresckow ridge and twin trees chute to a rarely skied area called eagles nest. I had never found it before and I was up for an adventure. Found my way in there and was rewarded with an untouched powder line. Had a bratwurst for lunch and then skied some steep trees. After that took a hike up to west basin and broke my pole while whacking my boot to get the snow off. Skied a very nice Zdarsky (5th chute) and it was very weird not being able to pole plant on one side. Took lift 2 back up and saw my kids and instructor coming up 7a and I tagged along with them down longhorn which is a legendary Taos steep. Hoping it’s not too windy tomorrow then looks like a storm rolling in. Trees Eagles nest kids on longhorn6 points

Day 4 - Banff Arrived at the lot around 8:15 to partly cloudy skies and cold temps. I’m still trying to get used to this Celsius crap. Banff is an oddball layout. You start out in a lower lodge where you can boot up and then load a gondola up some 18 minutes to the main resort area. The main area is a cluster where many of the lifts load in a spoke fashion. God help those who come here on a weekend as the central area would be mayhem. Rode ip the gondi and arrived in Sunshine Village right at 9am. We were going to start on lookers right and loop around the mountain, but the Wawa quad was not yet running so we headed up the Angel Express quad. Pretty much everything is above tree line skiing, wide open snow fields. They received a couple of inches overnight which made the groomers fast and light. We got lucky in that the ride to Banff it was flurrying and cloudy but at the mountain it was partly cloudy with breaks of sun. You really want to go here on a clear day just for the views which are unbelievable! We pretty much toured the entire mountain, finding stashes of untouched powder in the trees. After lunch we headed down to Goat’s Eye mountain to lap some tree runs there. On the next ride up, SP dropped the rope off the right of the lift. We could see a large powder field to hit, but coming down Cleavage wee missed the turn. Regardless it’s some serious terrain as right across the valley is Delirium Dive where they host World Freeride Tour comps. We could see some crazies coming down the chutes over there. Finished up the day heading all the way back to the top of Lookout mountain and doing a peak-to-creek run all the way back down to the cars, a real thigh burner after a hard day of skiing. Dinner was in house, salad, spaghetti with Italian sausage, garlic bread and cheesecake, followed up by an IPA and gummies. Morning views… Ski tree… Various mountain pics… Downtown Banff…5 points

Great conditions today and tons of kudos to the snowmaking team who single-handedly (as in with no help from the skies) have turned the mountain around in just one weekend. Everything's pristine white, gone are the brown marks from Main St or Lazy Mile. Some marbles here and there, actually a lot of them on the Main St, but by noon it softened up enough, so that they became a non-issue. Other than that - great snow all over, best was probably Lazy with freshly blown soft snow. Paradise had remarkable waves on its lower part, don't try to ride them fast on stiff legs. Something strange was going on with Razors that was first open, then closed, then open again, but who cares when there is Challenge next to it. Great morning overall. Sunny, and hardly any people!5 points

Back at 6 with the fam to 34° and the best night snow conditions this year. Met up with friends and the kids only wanted to stay on Lazy and Burma for the side hits and Yeti park. Both were smooth cream. Even got to share a lift ride with @mbike-skiand friend! Peace’d around 8 and didn’t even get a beverage down because we had to do a bathroom break JADIP Side note, does any night people think this is the most lights out collectively on the mountain in recent years? They did fix the big dark spot on Lazy but Burma has a whole corner out, usually down to dirt because no one can avoid it. Trails End is also a pretty dark finish.4 points

Sorry, don't read this in the AM. The trees have been getting less and less spaced out over the years. There's the "tree farms" either side of George's Gorge, but they've gotten pretty dense. East Rim Face used to be nice and may be tomorrow if we get what is forecast, but ever since they put in chair 5, it's been pounded. There's some okay trees left side of Hogan's East. A bit steeper ones left side of Outside Road. Easiest to dip a toe in and then exit at any point is Good Medicine. Quite spaced in the middle. But, increasing steepness AND they face South, so snow is sometimes not so great. The good thing is you can traverse out to the right at any point. Number one thing is, ski with someone who is going to really keep an eye on you. Remember, if you go into a treewell and they are downhill from you, they are going to have to posthole UPHILL, possibly in snow up to their crotch, while you could be suffocating. Don't go in the trees with someone who plans to "meet you at the lift" or get carried away by the powder. (You might as well go by yourself, they would be useless. And, being by yourself, you'd be more careful.) Try to look for the path taken by others before. The snow will be more compacted. Straying 6 inches off that line could have you waist deep very suddenly. Don't become the next statistic on my list of deaths in tree wells here. If you've found that special, reliable partner, the trees in Big Timber (unlabelled, to the left of Ridge Run after Outside Road and before its final pitch) are really nice.2 points

Just got home from another day in paradise at Blue The True! Started the day waiting for the Challenge Express gates with GSS, someone whose handle escapes me from the Poconos and Salty trailing in the distance. The gates to the quad opened before the Challenge so I skated my way into a chair before the Challenge gates opened. ROTD was Switchback for the cankle deep man mad pow stashes followed closely by a freshly groomed late to open Nightmare to Dreamweaver. I'm not a big fan of weekend lift lines and crowded trails but the PASR company, delicious hand made pizza and parking lot shenanigans make it worth coming out for some turns. Nice meeting you all! Ski you Tuesday-Thursday or next Sunday!1 point

Snow in the forecast Friday and it says change to freezing rain. If blue can pull out a couple inches overnight and a couple inches Friday I’ll call it a win.1 point

They’re doing a season pass giveaway on fb for those of you who don’t have a pass, haven't purchased a pass, or do in depth cost analysis in regards to price per square inch of snow skied vs amount of gasoline used to travel to said ski area https://fb.watch/iYKgnDcuaE/?mibextid=qC1gEa1 point

Day 2 - Norquay Up at O’dark thirty, coffee, egg & cheese bagel and banana. Picked the Expeditions and away we went about 7:45. Road to Norquay is a bunch of switchbacks but no problems and arrived about 8:45 or so. Temps were much warmer than yesterday, with lighter winds. Right off the bat some we’re having Ikon issues at the Cascade lift, so they headed back to customer service while the rest of us headed over to the Spirit lift and lapped some runs there. Some nice bump runs warmed us up for what we didn’t know was coming up later. Ikon issues resolved, we met at the Mystic Express and lapped some real nice bumps and semi-fresh snow in Bruno’s Gulley, Pristov’s Tale and Crosby’s Run. Decided to break for lunch, which meant we had to take the Spirit lift. Got to the lift and the lines were off the hook. The motor was going and they only loaded 2 of every 3 chairs. Decided to hike up to the main lodge. Luckily for Slim and I, we had hiking backpacks, so loaded up the skis on them which made the trek somewhat bearable. After lunch we headed up the donkey Cascade and headed down to the North American. A strange, old double that had groups of 4 chairs spaced some 100 or so ft apart. Liftie was telling us it’s one of the oldest chairs in North America. After a pretty pokey morning, this side of the place was like the Yang to the morning’s Yin. This side’s got some serious steep shit. Not only is it steep, but the runs are all bumps. First run was down North American and over to Boundary Line to check things out. The boundary line had gates out to the chute next to the boundary with avy danger signs all over, but the gates were open. Decided to pass and ride the bumps down Widowmaker as a tribute to Blue. Next lap followed the same route but curiosity got the best of us and we dropped into the chute to some beautiful, mostly untouched perder. This required another lap. Saw some interesting terrain off to the right of the lift so headed there and dropped down Gun Run, another serious steep, bumped run reminiscent of Jackson’s Tower Three, some great fun!! A final lap down the out of bounds chute and the legs are screaming, so called it quits around 2:30. Too tired to cook, so ordered a bunch of pizza from Res Rick pizza. Had some interesting selections, all were delicious. Time to finish an IPA and gummy up for tomorrow. Digs pic Races today Top of North American Looking up at Gah Skier George in Gun Run1 point

A run later there was a ski patroller in a sled on the falls and atomic Jeff was even talking about an injured skier. This is the kind of snow today where you don’t want to show off even if there’s a cameraman from You @ Blue on the scene.1 point

Interesting day at Blue today. started with a delayed open on the old six. Then NM/DW was being groomed so after a run down Paradise Hayata and I got two nice smooth passes on NM/DW onto a very wavey lower paradise.. We headed down Challenge to find a ski patroller yard sale near the bottom of the head wall, radio and all. We stopped to gather his stuff. and to ask if he was ok. He said he was alright, so we continued on. We got on the old six with another ski patroller who was headed up to help him, because after we left him, he called for assistance. We then skied lazy to the falls and found the falls to be a deep dark mess. Next run was switch back which was another deep dark lumpy teeth rattling mess, followed by two wonderful runs down a nice smooth main street, with a quick bump run in the middle. On our second main street pass, we stopped on the cross trail with about 15 other skiers, as we were standing there an intermediateish skier sailed through the group and unknowingly blundered into the bumps. He got lucky and only floundered over two bumps before they spit him out headfirst onto the smooth part of Main. On our second lazy to falls run, the falls was littered with people that the deep stuff got the best of. Spoke with GSS and got to meet and have a short conversation with Salty Ant. And had a ski by meet up with Mute, nice to meet both of you. Fun day as always at blue.1 point

Hey all, I’m back from a fun morning at Blue mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at 715am and it was 26 degrees under overcast sky’s. In the house were Atomic Jeff, Toast, Kevin Thomas, Justo, Dime, Boo, Mute, MBike, Bethlehem Ford Crww, JFDan, BenM, PSUFly, Schifdawg, Pops, Enjorales, ZZSlopeX Hayeta, Dirtwolf, Matt Edge, Salty and many others. First run in challenge was decent and pretty consistent with decent cord, Main Street had nice snow on the top half and real sticky lower, Lazy mile was decent as was coming soon while lower paradise was filled with little rollers. The guns were turned off but production the previous 33 hours was excellent with the majority of terrain resurfaced. Crowds were a bit less than yesterday but still busy. This weeks sausage Sunday was a pizza edition and BenM took a lot of life style shots of Enjorales tossing dough. There was also shrimp. All in all a fun day with not the best conditions but better than not skiing. I’ll prob be back next Tuesday for opening. JADIP1 point

Today was Pops triumphant return to slopes after his fall busted his knee up a couple weeks ago and we put in a pretty decent session then visit Last Run Lounge for an hour or so before picking the boys up from Adventure Camp. Super variable conditions all over the mountain but tried to find the best of it wherever we went. Pizza party tomorrow..1 point

ROTD was running gunpow laps in the TCS ditch, worked up an appetite for BMDI bacon egg and pepper jack with tots on a Kaiser for the ride home On the ride up I saw a badaass camper a few cars ahead but I turned off on Grouse. It ended up in the lot across the street and had to check it out on the way out1 point

I saw they were salting razors edge on Friday to harden the slope. From what I can see, when the salt melts a pound of snow, it can lower the temperature of an adjacent 9.4 pounds of snow by 14°F. FWIW.1 point

A great day to end my skiing at Crested Butte. A day of milestones. Ski day 30, previous record was 26 and still plenty of season left. One year ago today I broke my knee. The best milestone is that I did my first steep tree run. Not a big deal for you pros, but for me it was an accomplishment. Too chicken to try with @JFskiDan but since my friends were here I felt good about it. As Dan knows, my friend Ilise is great in the trees so she guided us down. We did the trees off East River. Dan knows where they are. Before the tree run we did bumps all morning. Some pics Natalie Me. Could never get an action shot of Ilise since she is just too fast Ilise tree run I skied the top and “survived” the bottom. Natalie By far my favorite ski day of the season ❤️1 point

i felt like i was waiting for things to go sideways at any second while skiing today. The early run on Switch was really good, but again, just not knowing exactly how the transition onto Lower Main was gonna treat you kept me kind of tentative. i would rather ski goofy shit like today, than not ski at all, but my rating for today would be pretty low. i will take it though, with all the guns they had going to put down snow. take the good with the bad. way busier today than i thought it would be. lots of state police, 2 Dept of Conservation trucks, Paramedic, 2 ambulances, and 2 fire trucks. not sure what was going on there. Maybe policeman/firemans day off on the slopes?1 point
