Day 8 - Lake Louise As we bid a fond adieu to Revelstoke we packed up the SUVs and headed for Calgary with another stop in Lake Louise to get one more under the gun. As we approached the exit, we could see traffic in the opposite direction backed up about 1/2 mile onto the highway for the LL exit. After parking out on East Bumfuck and slogging our shit to the lodge, we enters the massive lines that would make a weekend day at Blue look appealing! Up the Glacier and Top of the World, we dropped over the ridge and made our way down to the Paradise lift. The snow was surprisingly still good on the bowl. Up the Paradise, down Corridor and into Swede’s what h all still had some nice perder but cut up. Down to the Temple Lodge where they had a DJ spinning tunes and MILFs dancing galore! We were thoroughly entertained! We had set a 1:30 departure time, so up the Ptarmigan and back down through the Ptarmigan glades, then it was back to the lodge for the return ride home. On the way, we had to stop and see the chateau at Lake Louise for a walk on the lake. Morning view… Resident kitty… Snow pics… Lake Louise chateau… Ride to Calgary…9 points

Drove up last night to see friends and family and then stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Dickson City. Ate dinner at Burrito Loco Cantina right down the street and it was pretty good. Table side fresh made guac and got the spicy pork tacos. Boo got tacos el pastor. There was a Primanti Bros within walking distance and I wish I knew that before deciding on Mexican. Ate the free hot breakfast at the hotel and then 30 minute drive to Elk. Upper lot was full so had to boot up and take the shuttle to redeem the passes. Standing in ski boots in corrals on the back of that truck is probably the most technical thing I had to do today. Learned they had the state slalom championship going on once we were on the snow and it was packed with racers. That combined with those fixed doubles helped us decide to stay lookers right and lap the quad. Those doubles reminded me how much I don’t miss dragging a kid on the MS/Burma chairs at Blue. Spoiled with the detachables now. Snow started thicc sugar but soften up with the temperature. Everything was running good and max 1 minute wait for the quad. For the amount of cars we were surprised how empty it felt. Did everything on that side besides Upper Tunkhannock. Skiers right looked pretty good when we so the boys on it Did 8ish runs and went to the Winter Garden Restaurant for lunch. Margarita flatbread was terrible but buff chicken dip and chili were pretty good. Caught up to @mbike-skiand @NastarGlennfor a couple runs on Tecumseh and Kickapoo after lunch. The kid is fearless now and handled everything grate. Split with the boys for 1 last run and Becky Boo said her legs were tired walking back to the car. Mission accomplished. 95 minutes lot to house to complete the trip to Vermont without the drive.8 points

Hey All, I’m back from another fun session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot before 715am and in the house were Johnny Law, PARidge, JFDan, Matt Edge, Atomic Jeff, Enjorales, Pops, TP4, Bethlehem Ford crew minus Bethlehem ford guy, Schifdawg, Wally, Dime, Toast and many others. The temperature was in the low 30s to start and the sky's were a mixture of clouds and sun. First run on Challenge had the rolly Polly snow..not that firm though. Main Street was smoother and firmer, Lazy Mile was craptastic and coming soon was decent while lower paradise was chop city. I didn’t get onto razors as it was closed for slalom training. I found Widowmaker to midway to lower Main Street to be the best run. Crowds were light to moderate and they didn’t even run the OG six pack until 10am when I was in the lot enjoying beer and chips. All in all a fun session and I don’t want to be to picky about ski conditions but I’ll give it like a 4.5 out of 10 today.6 points

Confidence was high yesterday with the soft snow so we had to give them a go. It was awesome5 points

Spotted the bottom of your plane and knew it was you. We thought you were going to try and drop fruit roll ups or something on @JFskiDan but he remained safe. Then you came around for a second pass and we got more concerned. Luckily, he was still safe.4 points

Switchback was next level bad by 9am it was almost impressive. Between the Air Force buzzing the lot and the cavalry shooting up in the hills I'm just glad @JFskiDan stayed safe. Cool aerial pic too. You can tell that's actually us because even just as a pixel JLaw manages to exude swagger.3 points

As hard as this winter season has tried to be on us skiers and riders, I have had some very good days at blue. Today was one of them, nice weather, decent snow. Yeah switchback was mashed potatoey, and come around was pretty slick but everything else I skied was ok, and barney's had hero bumps. One thing about Blue Mountain, it teaches (forces?) you to get used to wildly variable conditions. I think that's a good thing. I shared a lift with Matt Edge, enjoyed our conversation. Speaking of lifts, when are people going to learn to wait for their friends outside of the lift loading areas?3 points

Just got back from Blue. Sorry for my abrupt departure from the lot shenanigans, some friends had arrived I needed to take a few laps with. This morning felt like mid winter with firm white snow. Suprisingly light opening crowds compared to last Sunday. All in all JADIP3 points

Day 7 - Revelstoke day 2 Day broke with more clouds at the top but the promise of clearing skies held hope that we could actually see something other than white and trees. Temps were also supposed to be reasonably comfortable in the upper 20’s. It already felt warm while packing up the car. Up the box and down to the Ripper lift. Ran Burn Down to warm up the aching legs and then back up to repeat laps of Glades of Glory. It seems to have the best snow and tons of fun searching for residual powder stashes. It also started snowing. After lunch the sun finally broke and we headed out to the top and other side of the mountain now that we could see something. We headed out to South bowl to get some Jalapeño, Hot Sauce and Tally-Ho glades. We even ventured OOB into some trees alongside Jalapeño for some deep piles of perder. They’re talking some major expansion here with a new lift to the very top that’s surely going to piss of the locals that hike to get the goods. Morning skies & boot dryer setup… Snow’s deep…2 points

Nice soft snow on Floyd's and River Shot today, gently bumping up on the headwalls. No lines on 19 runs off Paradise lift 1030-2 Challenge and Thunderbolt were a bit thin and scratchy with no trees in play. Didn't make it to other side.1 point

Thanks for posting the Jack Frost report here..it saved me a few clicks if you post the report in the Jack Frost forum. I’d low key want to ski Hunter Tuesday but I have an appointment at work. Toodles1 point

Seeing as how Salty's Buddy Pass to Blue seems likely to be going elsewhere I had a real nice.time at JF today. 19 runs off Paradise lift with zero lines. Soft snow bumping up over course of day on River Shot and Floyd's. No trees in play. They seem to be planning to make more snow and stay open at least a couple more weeks, but I expect this will be my last day skiing PA this season barring a March snowstorm. Heading up to Hunter Tues on way to 2 days at Stowe1 point

Wrapped things up nicely on Friday, which was a beautiful sunny day. Started out with a nice long perfect groomer from the very top of lift 2 all the way down to the bottom of the backside. Perfect corduroy and no people so I could really let them run. Seas really hoping that the Kachina peak lift would open since it hadn’t run since Monday and there was fresh snow the past few days. My wish was granted at about 10:30 when I saw it was loading and I immediately hopped in line. I was probably about the 20th or so chair, and even though it was tracked up under the lift from patrol, i traversed out to the K chutes and was able to get an untouched foot or more of powder straight down K4. Brought my son up a couple times and brought my daughter up as well. Aside from a nice lunch at the Bavarian, I basically just skied Kachina peak all day in the sun and it was magical. Back in Albuquerque now and heading back to PA tomorrow.1 point

It's nice....It's comfy...it's new....and it moves a lot of people up the mountain...I like the quad cause you can just about access everything...problem is BMR and every other program uses it....so people comin down see the line and if the OG6 isn't spinnin there goin to the new lift and there gonna ski Main Street....I wish they would spin all three on weekends..1 point

They ultimately reported 9 inches today but there were some very deep turns to be had on the mountain. First run I decided to get up to the top of lift 2 and I skied right under the lift and it was deep. Skied the what chutes and a bunch of steeps while waiting for the backside to open. Caught the rope drop on Hunziker bowl and it was very very nice. Snow started again at about 10 am and it dumped until about 2:45. Free refills were had all over and especially in the trees. Rare for me any more these days to do a bell to bell session but I skied hard all day with a short break to eat it was so good. Ran into my kids’ group a couple times and they were having a blast. Sadly tomorrow is my final day here. pics in no particular order:1 point

i like all the posts, and like the lift. I am most thankful for the early season lot/lift options. I think parking up top might be a thing of the past now. yeah, it does turn into a cluster fuck in between the 2 sixes, i would like to think there is some good explanation as to why they are so close to one another, but we live in a very imperfect world, and maybe this is what you get when you remodel an old ski resort, basically having to put things where they need to be VS where you would like them to be. Who knows, maybe there is an ancient burial ground that the new 6 is encroaching upon. They could try to work on the getting off part of it a little bit more, but its all good.1 point

I think the new lift is a positive addition to my favorite pocono ski area. I enjoy the different perspective on the ride up, more to watch. The placement of the top station provides much better access for a windowmaker/midway/chute, or vista/burma run. The bottom station could have been moved up 20 or 30 feet to give more loading space? It has helped a lot of people discover the joys of the little gap side for better or worse. At the same time, it seems to have lessened the crowds on the other side of the hill. It changed the lift use dynamic; the quad seems to have longer lines and the old six gets noticeably less use (when it's open).1 point

I don't want to get yelled at by the FAA for dropping items out of a tiny window. It would be cool to attach a loudspeaker to the plane and announce, "Attention ladies and gentlemen of the Blue Mountain lower parking lot, prepare to witness the insane, awesome 100 horsepower of the mighty Rotax as the Evektor goes from idle to full throttle 1,000 feet overhead".0 points
