Wrapping up a nice afternoon riding the flobee lift back to the lot visiting The Taj for the first time today. I was saddened to find the top to bottom lift was not open nor was there a full snow path to get from the top of Flobee to the Iron Horse lift to make the experience feel like a larger mountain. They had made some snow last night and the first chair I found was the Iron Horse which let me to a park vacant of features and a few hard cord groomers. Not a big fan of the boomer groomers I went in search of the steeps which oddly on this mountain are at the bottom section 😳. The only trail open was Cannonballs which I lapped about 16 or 17 times. The snow on Cannonballs was a mix of chunky hard to spring corn depending if it was in the shade or hit by the sun. To me Cannonballs was worth the $40 price of admission. Looks like they will have more open tomorrow. Next up Camelback Sunday. No people anywhere till after 5. All in all a great late spring day at The Taj!6 points

The East Coast's Best Snowmaking System is Getting Even Better! This just in: Blue Mountain is making a multi-million dollar investment in snowmaking upgrades for the 2023/24 Ski Season! These upgrades will bring YOU more snow sooner, even against Mother Nature! Our opening capacity will increase by another 30%, bringing 3x more trails online for opening weekend than were ever able to open. Your favorite trails like Razor's Edge, Falls, and Lazy Mile will open much earlier too!4 points

FWIW, just checked my email and they sent me a survey. I of course gave them high marks, but in the final comment section explained that restricting tail gating next year would negatively impact my opinion of Blue. I've never tailgated at Blue, but enjoy reading about Sausage Sundays...would be a real drag if they screwed that up for you guys.4 points

@sibhusky If you dont mind me asking, what sort of offseason (as in non - ski season) outdoor activities do you get involved in? I would imagine the summers are amazing and very beautiful there, Minus the tourists around Glacier Park. Whether up in MT or WY I someday want to head out and do one of those day long horse ride tours.... #rawhide2 points

When some unlucky employee was about to deposit the weekend's cash into a local bank. Video story here: This all happened back in 1976. Rough estimate is that 50K is about $250,000 adjusted for inflation. The famous (for back then) Newswatch 16 trumpet jingle theme music is in there, too. I'll say it before anyone else does, Vermont was not all rainbows and sunshine ... back in 1976.1 point

The lights are out..game over… Blue is gone till November unless you want to hit up Oktoberfest which they have in September. I’m thinking they might build a rail garden or a bonk yard on vista with all that snow piled up from pond skimming. Maybe they can truck it to ski resorts that don’t suck like Montage and Camelback1 point

@mute1080 you don’t have to wait until tomorrow for the news. My guess was a joint season pass with camelback and we can’t hate on camelback anymore cause it’s our sister mountain.1 point

Next season you should come up and meet the PASRs. That would be dynamite.1 point

What!?!?! Was there for closing day. Was awesome to see all the tailgating. Are they really going to crack down on that? That would be a huge loss.1 point

I think he is throwing shade on all PA resorts. but this is also from the guy that bought his daughters a used cop car at an auction, and rental skis from camelback.1 point

The main problem with siting the trails on the east side of the mountain is that the bottom is mostly floodplain. The original ski area had issues where the ground at the base of the tows wouldn't freeze and you'd be stuck walking through a swamp. It's a big reason why they moved the operations further west down the mountain. Also, on the occasion there's adequate snowfall: skiers right of Nile Mile, right around the first left switchback turn if you duck into the woods you'll come out onto a woods trail that proceeds steeply down towards the old railroad grade. This wasn't a Big Pocono ski trail but it does cross into the old ski area. From there you have to skin or hike back to Nile Mile. No water slide, but imo something better. Check this out:1 point

Thanks. The wallets did 1/2 day in the chopper and left. And yes, been partaking in the apres the last 2 days. Yesterday was a celery and potato soup, today is smoked salmon with cheeses, fruit and crackers. 3 young girls here do all the cooking. They seem like very bad ass skiers. All have extreme goggle tans.1 point

Wohoo! Great last touring day! Weather much improved today though we still had the wind. 9 degrees when we started but felt great in the sun. This is out front door of lodge. Ilise skinning up you can see how wind swept Red 3’s face is. We traversed left thru the trees well before that. Same route as yesterday since we knew the way and what to expect. trying to find a flat platform to transition looking up at our tracks. Makes the slope look so flat from this angle. Our skin track up got wind swept so I broke trail for most of it. Was tiring. some from yesterday from our guide Stellar trip!1 point
