  1. Since the season at Blue is over decided to use our ikon passes and head up to VT with my son for the weekend. Forecast was looking rough but I’d rather ski in shitty weather than look at it out the window. Was sprinkling off and on during the morning but not bad enough to need our ponchos. It has snowed 4-7” overnight but then turned to rain so the fresh snow was heavy but there was a lot of untracked pow, especially in the trees . Skied mostly tree runs all day since they were such a a blast. Got WARM this afternoon when the sun came out and was classic spring skiing. Might have gotten a tan even. Run of the day was “sap line trees”, just a fun flowy shot through the trees off of the gate house lift. My son is a terrible influence on me. He eggs me on to do jumps and daring things and of course I do it. I think we’ll ski Killington tomorrow, maybe Pico.

  2. I rode this morning, classic PA day, grey and windy and colder than the temps. They blew last night maybe but to little effect. There was some blown on some ti rarees and slow spots but only the same stuff was open. All the north face stuff went but was closed for 10ft patches of brown. I rode everything open but mostly cannonball a thousand times. It was a super fun rolly Brownstown with a little bit of ripping. Absolutely nobody was there but super nice of them to stay open.

  3. I feel pretty confident they aren't going to allow other mountain pass holders on for First tracks. We have to go to Guest Services to show our pass to get a ticket, so I'm sure it'll be a day comp that won't register as a SP and open the gates early, assuming they have it set that way to figure out who to let on easily at the lifts. Here is the parking map. Lot 2 and lot 3 are premium lots. Since they said free General parking, I expect these will still be pay lots. Lots 4,5,7,8 lots are normal paid or season pass lots that should be free tomorrow. Here is a satellite image. Red squiggles are premium. Yellows are free, green is lot 8, this is where i intend to park. It's down the hill back towards the hotel, right next to the beginner Sunbowl slope. It's actually the closest parking to the snow, but not the most convenient to the good lifts. Either have to ski over to the Sunbowl quad and catch a lift up to the new bubble, or down past it to the indoor Waterpark lift and ride thst to the top. That's probably my plan, with a Nile Mile run first, then a trip back up and head lookers right to get down to the other lift and see what's good over there. My plan is to arrive about 745, park down by Sunbowl, walk up in street shoes to GS for my ticket, then back down and boot up. I only have until about 1030 because Boy 1 has a soccer game at noon.

  7. Got some Look Pivots at the tune shop end of season. Planned on getting another pair of Blizzard Black Pearls. I’ve really enjoyed them, they’re pretty versatile. Girl at the shop said the new ones aren’t as good as the old ones. Not sure what she meant by that.

  9. It's the last day, they probably don't care. That being said 730am frozen cord doesn't sound great. 830 or 9 might be better. I'll be rolling in around 8 or so.

  10. Wrapping up a nice afternoon riding the flobee lift back to the lot visiting The Taj for the first time today. I was saddened to find the top to bottom lift was not open nor was there a full snow path to get from the top of Flobee to the Iron Horse lift to make the experience feel like a larger mountain. They had made some snow last night and the first chair I found was the Iron Horse which let me to a park vacant of features and a few hard cord groomers. Not a big fan of the boomer groomers I went in search of the steeps which oddly on this mountain are at the bottom section 😳. The only trail open was Cannonballs which I lapped about 16 or 17 times. The snow on Cannonballs was a mix of chunky hard to spring corn depending if it was in the shade or hit by the sun. To me Cannonballs was worth the $40 price of admission. Looks like they will have more open tomorrow. Next up Camelback Sunday. No people anywhere till after 5. All in all a great late spring day at The Taj!

  11. You didn’t ride the vista chair at blue? I rode it once or twice the beginning of the season to check on the progress of the top station of the super summit safari six pack. I was thinking about that earlier and at Jackson hole I rode the Union pass and Sublette chairs and all the other lifts are detachable. Didn’t ride the Marmot at all.

  16. She was part of the same event. Slapped down on the ground initially by mama griz and my husband ran to save her. He got the brunt of the attack. Pepper spray saved him. The dogs were useless. This happened a 1/4 mile from the house.

  17. We used to hike a bit, but after my husband got attacked and mauled by a grizzly he lost interest in hiking. I mostly garden. We've also sold the boat. Since Covid, the tourist situation has gotten pretty bad. The reservation system at the Park has resulted in more people in town and in the remaining state and national forests as well. I keep hoping they will go back to video games. Now my daughter and son-in-law are avid four season mountain bikers. Whitefish has an extensive trail network in the area plus the stuff at the resort. They live down in the Bitterroot, which also has plenty of trails. He hunts in the fall. There are lakes, rivers, golf courses, galore. Really, you need to ask what isn't here: Sports teams, malls, an interstate, not many museums.
