i am convinced, nobody ever drives by my house and says "oh wow, his mulch looks so good". In fact, im pretty sure people drive by my house and say "those arbovities look like huge penis's", due to the deer eating them. Im over the mulch as far as looks are concerned, but i do think it does keep some of the weeds down. I do have an area with landscape stone, and still have to pull weeds out of there. At my last house, i did the whole fabric thing, and then stone, and was good for a while, but then eventually it still would produce weeds.2 points

I did the fabric/mulch and still get weeds in the second year. The fabric is probably 3 feet under by now. I also did the fabric under the stone and am constantly pulling little weed sprouts, but I'd hate to cover that area with mulch all the time. I'd probably need 15 yards just for that area alone. If I had my druthers, I'd prefer astroturf, but the boss has her own plans. HWHL...1 point

I like the look of mulch, but remulching so many times sucks. We've moved to landscape stone and I'm happy with how much easier it is to manage.1 point

Yea I think skylarke/bittersweet is done for the season, another few weeks for superstar. re photos, c’mon Dan non action ski shots are all about beer in the foreground (see above) and “show us your tips”, sheesh 🤓 (sample below) A good ski lean with vehicle AND beer is worth a few points too Maybe we should start a thread for rad internet photos 101 lol!1 point

There is a Facebook group called Bumping Big Snow where the members post about their plans to bump up the fridge. A lot of Blue and Hunter skiers are members. They are planning to be there this Thursday (May 11) from open to close and will be seeding a line or two. I think they have a group on Instagram too, probably with the same name.1 point

I planted 24 (little) Blueberry bushes 20+ years ago. Now they’re 8’ tall , I should have spaced them further apart. I used to cover them with a net but now they’re too large so I feed the birds. My neighbor planted 140 bushes, he has his relatives pick. They were getting to be quite a chore to keep up with. I think the last time I covered them I was getting 3 gallons a day at peak. Last year my son was feeding Bluejays peanuts on our deck and they weren’t happy with peanuts so they went for dessert and cleaned up the Blueberries. I wasn’t too disappointed because I still had some leftover in the freezer. I propagated some Elderberry bushes a couple years ago but the deer are pretty aggressive getting through the fence that I put up. They seem to leave the blueberries alone. I haven’t tried to plant a regular garden yet but maybe next year.1 point

Since the season at Blue is over decided to use our ikon passes and head up to VT with my son for the weekend. Forecast was looking rough but I’d rather ski in shitty weather than look at it out the window. Was sprinkling off and on during the morning but not bad enough to need our ponchos. It has snowed 4-7” overnight but then turned to rain so the fresh snow was heavy but there was a lot of untracked pow, especially in the trees . Skied mostly tree runs all day since they were such a a blast. Got WARM this afternoon when the sun came out and was classic spring skiing. Might have gotten a tan even. Run of the day was “sap line trees”, just a fun flowy shot through the trees off of the gate house lift. My son is a terrible influence on me. He eggs me on to do jumps and daring things and of course I do it. I think we’ll ski Killington tomorrow, maybe Pico.1 point

We put it on thick, so only do it every other year. In retrospect, I should have gone to landscape stone from the start. Good move! In the back under the deck that doesn't get much sun and grass was nearly impossible to grow, I did goose egg stone which is far easier to maintain.0 points

Yeah, a few were up there. Rick called me about going up but I had 15 yards of mulch being delivered Friday, so that's what I ended up doing instead of skiing.0 points
