  3. Tried out the HOK skis today! We got about 4+ inches overnight and it was snowy all morning. There were 5 of us today and we went to the same park but went in the trees more. The HOK skis are definitely good for that, walking over logs etc. Descending the small hills is so much easier. With the permanent skin on the middle third it really slows you down. It fees much different then trying to descend with full skins on my touring skis. These don’t grab as much. Overall we just tooled around looking for little hills do go down. Some look like they will be fun when they get filled in more.

  6. It was pretty fun. I made it 90 minutes and skied the left run and the right run. Good to do once a year.

  7. Arrived at the top of parking deck A @ 10am to meet the usual Blue crew homies. Turns out a bomb threat to the mall resulted in a minor delayed opening. To my suprise the mountain was not as crowded as I expected. Roughly 60-120 second lift line which ultimately cost us a few laps but not bad. Nearly everyone at the mountain was on the free ride piste and so we had the park mostly to ourselves along with some jerry senders. We even witness one jerry sender full send air taco over the hip jump. We seen from the lift and alerted the top attendant to summon ski patrol! We rush down the park to close of the feature and help ski patrol who fired up the tow rope to come to aide. We waited to flag ski patrol down to the scene so he would not get lost and we departed only to see the jerry getting towed downed in a ski patrol sled. After our 2 hour session we attempted to stop at Yard House from some apres refreshments but the mall and bar was packed! We settled for 5 guys and a Stella Artois. Hope for the next session to be Friday at Blue! All in all it was a exciting day filled with turns, box and rail slides!

  10. Hope they open soon. I bought a case from other half brewing, it'd be a shame if I had to drink it all myself instead of sharing with my favorite parking lot homies

  11. I think those are flipped. I would bet KSL looks at Blue as complementing their crown jewel of Camelback, if they're taking that sort of look at things. Just take a look at the lifts both got last year. The only reason that they have their opening day set for 12/15 is because of their instance on opening the lookers right part of the mountain first, so they need more night of snowmaking to cover all the concrete and the lazy river. PASR operates in a blue colored echo chamber, but I think that outside of here and the other Blue Mt passholder diehards the majority of the ski community as well as the General Public considers Camelback the superior resort. Or would, if they considered them at all. I know I would rather ski at Blue, but if I had to pick one to own or invest in, as they sit right now it would be Camelback by a mile.

  12. I've had a couple VERY close calls on the slopes. One night riding up the doubles at Blue, before there was a valley. Started kicking in standing in line waiting... On the way up, the levels started building, probably because I was sitting and every rumble across the towers made it worse. Then the worst, it stopped just over Come Around! After what felt like an eternity, it started moving again. Flying down Easy Out trying to hold back the turtle is not something you want to be doing. Not many know about the bathrooms that used to be down by Ski Wees, but they were always open but the race down the stairs was always fraught with danger. Luckily I made it with less than a second to spare. Then there was the time up at Killington, taking the never-ending green from the top down to the Skyship, holding one back the entire way down. Luckily the Skyship lodge was still open, or that would have been an outdoor for sure. I hate my bowels!

  15. Possibly waiting for Slopeside to close for the night? The waterline issue was right at the point of Vista and Windowmaker possibly a valve they temped and dont have waterflow there right now? We sha'll see shortly! Lower Mainstreet stacking up and the puddle at the bottom is stsrting to freeze, just seen a UTV drive through its all slush.

  16. I don’t see much activity on Vista . I wonder if they are going to open the Valley lodge only? Maybe a new strategy now that the 6pack is in?

  18. Even have the older tower stick guns going on Main St. I don't think they want to be wrong (amd postpone) twice if they can at all help it

  21. i think this is pretty accurate. Cameltoe is the son that the KSL hopes that one day Blue will be. Toe is a money making machine year round pretty much, and Blue is the frat brother on the 5 year college plan. i dont like it as much as the next guy, but what works at Toe, is gonna be forced on the drunken frat brother.

  22. Also work in a field where underground water line breaks are a common thing at the start and end of winter.

  23. Camelback as the smaller overflow mountain? I can't possibly imagine that. There's no way that camelback, from a business perspective, is anyone's little brother. Blue is the black sheep brother in the family, but at this point the parents have finally put their foot down and Blue needs to try to get it's shit together. I see it as CBK as the older brother who has had a nice comfortable accounting job and a family for a while and Blue just got forced to go back to community college.

  24. I think they already have a set opening of 12-15 or some like that. Now that they're both under the same ownership...I wonder if cambelback is becoming the ksl version of big boulder, like in the Vail JFBB relationship. Sort of like blues smaller, overflow mountain that gets less priority

  25. Looks like they were able to put more down at the base, so I'm going with @JFskiDan's hope that they were able to put more effort into Paradise and maybe Coming Soon. Wish they would point the Valley cam back up Homestretch instead of showing the lift lines. (hint, hint).

  26. They need to get decent production tonight, Monday night, Tuesday night and Wednesday night to have a shot at next weekend. This was the only strike they can afford.

  27. hopefully they were able to keep some shit running that we couldnt see on cam. i have a hard time believing they have to shut everything down to fix a pipe near vista.

  28. The worst is when you have one of those Level 4+ emergencies and it’s not even that impressive of a turd…never fear it’s prob one of those now and later Jawns. Just as you’re back up and ready to leave the poop sauna…round 2.

  30. Went striper fishing out of Belmar once and the coffee kicked in shortly after departure on the way out in semi-rough seas. There was no way that was gonna be held back for 5 or so hours. Luckily the boat had a "toilet" (a broom closet with a 5 gallon bucket and a toilet seat to place on top and sit) Better than sticking your ass out the back of the boat and launching that way, but riding the surf and shitting at the same time was a never forget experience! After that, having to hit the head at Home Depot or Sam's club feels like sitting on a true throne.

  31. A 5 gallon bucket with some oil dry (kitty litter) keep in the vehicle along with a change of clothes and a roll of tp. I keep mental notes of where the rail trail parking is, road construction sites . Usually a job johnny available. Wawa , Sheetz . I’m not the most religious person but I’ve prayed the stalls open many times. I’ve yet to have a blowout but came close. My buddy has the record for the most embarrassing and most conspicuous emergency. Top of Tuckerman headwall. He started his run then stopped and for a cheering lunchrock crowd dropped a log 😳😂

  33. What’s always amazing is that Most of us can sit through slow moving traffic and a couple red lights and I guess the muscles do what muscles are supposed to do but literally when you’re opening bathroom door you have like 3.5 seconds or gonna be a giant shitty mess. If you’re ever bored or have like hours to kill check out Reddit some crazy poop my pants stories and even stories of people sheeting other people shorts. I’ve eaten ice cream with chop sticks and wiped my ass with an old tube sock because I was out of TP and paper towels Do I win a Nobel prize lol

  34. Thats a level 6? What the hell is when you erupt minutes from the driveway. It's like the pressure builds as your body knows relief should be near and things can go bad very quickly at that point.

  36. Oh yeah! Out drinking one night, wasn’t my turn to drive, one started just after leaving bar, of course I was last to be dropped off at home. Struggling to keep turtle in its shell the entire ride. Got back home to my parents house and there was NO time to wait. Headed to the back corner of the yard behind a bush and let loose. No greasy old napkin. Had to do a waddle of shame straight to the shower.

  37. Real nice day at Belleayre. A couple inches of soft snow on top of the base on Deer Run. Headwalls on Seneca and Peekamoose were a bit slick. Rode the Gondola 12× with line always under 2 minutes, never getting as far back as the RFID gates.

  40. They were going full force for only about an hour last evening. Then they had to do a total shutdown because a main broke at the burma/widowmaker intersection. They repaired it through the night digging and welding and fired back up whenever GSS noticed this morning. Should be all systems go from tonight on out barring anymore big problems.

  41. This explains why Blue is the only mountain in the region not blowing at all. Escavator is out and working, they must have busted a water main.
