  2. WJW, back in my day it was only $35 per person to ride up the elevator. I only charge three fiddy for plane rides up the Hudson River.

  3. Tried out the HOK skis today! We got about 4+ inches overnight and it was snowy all morning. There were 5 of us today and we went to the same park but went in the trees more. The HOK skis are definitely good for that, walking over logs etc. Descending the small hills is so much easier. With the permanent skin on the middle third it really slows you down. It fees much different then trying to descend with full skins on my touring skis. These don’t grab as much. Overall we just tooled around looking for little hills do go down. Some look like they will be fun when they get filled in more.

  9. It's pretty powerful (and emotional) especially in the areas where no cameras are allowed. So many people there yet so quiet and somber. I got a lot of questions from my teenage daughter and her friend that I had to attempt to explain. It's funny because I saw a few other parents doing the same and struggling with it like I was. Where and how it's built is truly incredible and they really do honor those lost in a proper fashion. When we left I just wanted to hug someone. On a completely different note I really wanted to hit the observation deck at liberty tower but fiddy bucks a pop seemed a bit excessive. I'm not about splitting cocoas in any way shape or form but $150 to ride an elevator seemed pretty excessive to me.

  11. Kind of reminiscent of last year. I think they just need to keep working on what they started. the 10 day doesnt look great, after friday, but that can change.

  14. Camelback is older and more comfortable with where they are. They're less motivated to make big changes. Which I can sort of appreciate. They have a stable of old fixed grip lifts still while Blue is all high speed now. They did build out the hotel and waterpark thing in 2015 but otherwise I can't think of any major improvements on the mountain recently. Their new high speed lift is only going in because the lift it replaced had a major accident.

  16. Some of the local ladies said there was just enough snow to XC at the Marble Mill site Park. They used their HOK skis but I was anxious to try out my Madshus. They have so much glide to them! In the first 5 minutes we went down a very small hill, and down I went. lol. By the next small hill I figured out how to descend without falling. Not graceful, but I got down it. The park is where they used to process Marble. There are a lot of random pieces carved and the old marble foundation pieces. 15 degrees and brilliant sunshine! Snow moving in this weekend. What a great spot that is a 10 min drive from my house to get some quick cardio in! These 2 ladies are in their 70’s but getting out there in a regular basis. I hope to be this active at their age. Plus they have such great stories.

  18. Some time after 911 we were working at JFK airport, and that is were they took all the taxis, cop cars, fire trucks, big parts of the towers themselves, etc.....the inspector working with us, took us over there. If you want to put something into perspective, you should have seen that. Its not something going away any time soon. Burned out vehicles, twisted steel, ladder trucks with the ladder half melted off of them.....and it wasnt just like a few vehicles. it was rows of them.
