Hey All, I’m back from another session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at like 715am and Johnny Law was already in the house. Also in attendance were Dirtwolf, JFDan, Atomic Jeff, Mute, GSSucks, Justo, Indiggio, Schifdawg, Salty, BenM, Bethlehem Ford guy, Harold, Kumar, Nastar Glenn, MBike Mike, Mrs. Snowbunski and probably more I forgot. Upon arrival the temperature was in the low 40s with pea soup fog. Second civilian super summit safari six pack and easy out to vista was nice hero snow..first run in midway to lower main was semi smooth. The next few runs it got busier and the snow got choppier. I did run ride up the Quad just to check out paradise again and a little peace and quiet up on tuts lane. Skied burma which just like yesterday better than a lot of times mid season as there wasn’t any ice. Today I definitely spent about double as long in the parking lot which was ok because it was a fun parking lot with beers and snacks. Tomorrow Blue is closed for rain and they reopen on Friday at 9am. Will be interesting to see how the snow holds up to the next few days weather. Anyway it was bonus skiing and it was good. Rode the night shift with Dirty and Edge, Mute and little boo were also in the house, killing it. 50% gorillas in the mist but it was shockingly good. Midway was a soft field of large lady lumps and the apron had nice smoothness to get the wiggle on. One of the best openings I think, just a super good night and my lord is the world a better place with skiing. The beer fairy even left me a ice cold beverage, as good as it gets for December 1st. Cannot wait to do it again tomorrow7 points

Ha! You can thank me as well, I think. Was coming down Vista and spotted a set of keys in the snow, but couldn't stop quick enough, but stopped below them. I flagged the next guy coming down who stopped just beyond them and picked them up. Guy: "Yours?" Me: "Nope" Guy: "They're for a Honda, guess I should turn them in" Me: "Yup, someone's gonna be a bummin' dude when they go to open their car. They'll be happy someone turned them in" Also watched a couple of guys try to change a flat in the parking lot. Took them almost an hour to figure out how to use a car jack. How to use a car jack should be a mandatory test on the driver's exam.6 points

We call the security guard Taser Dave. He was ready to take down Harold yesterday in the lift line for ducking the gates because his pass didn't work and Bethlehem Ford guy crew egged to duck the gate. Then Taser Dave made him leave and go get his pass fixed. We heard him screaming in the lot about the drone. Hero snow all day today. Would have been grate in the morning had the sun burned off the fog, but that didn't happen until just after noon. Legs were totally shot by then.4 points

Got back up there at 630 with Boo and BeckyBoo. Dirtwolf, Edge, JLaw, Pops, and Enjo were in the house. Thought the rain would scare people away but there was a good amount of the under 18 crowd. Snow was hero soft. Saw plenty of rocks in the trails and Midway was spicy with the bumps. All was fun. Missed the first run because the kid’s pass didn’t work. Waiting in line like the picture above and got it fixed. If anyone got the kid $50 pass, it won’t work unless you go to the counter first. They wanted a picture and proof of birthdate, both of which I didn’t have and still gave it to me. Overhead a manager talking with the employees about someone that complained “all the way up the chain to KSL.” Something about a season pass that wouldn’t work and thought the employee said she can’t fix it so he bought a day pass. She swears she didn’t say it but the manager wasn’t happy KSL found out. Back at it tomorrow ⛷️4 points

I admit it’s a little lame of me that I haven’t been downhill skiing yet. But today we woke up to about 6” of powdery snow. On my morning dog walk the neighborhood roads had not been plowed yet. So I immediately went home and got my new XC skis and skied from my front door all around my neighborhood on untracked snow. Some fun sustained “downhill”. Took it slow, still getting used to going downhill on XC skis. Husband had his own fun fooling around with the snowblower.4 points

Remember folks, no drones allowed on the mountain. Somebody was flying a drone over Barbs way and the security guy freaked. With permission from Blue, I’m gonna take one of the bushes from my yard and put in on Barbs way as an early Xmas present. I’m gonna call it Barbs Bush3 points

I forgot to add. I lost my keys forgetting to zip my pocket somewere along my first 3 runs. Super stoke stomper but fortunately a good samaritan found them and handed them in the the front desk!3 points

Fun opening day today! Just got home. Nice riding the chair with @mute1080, @Dirtwolf and @GrilledSteezeSandwich on my first ride up for the season! Got about 20 runs in between safety meetings and my quads are now toast 🤣. Be back out Sunday morning if the rain holds off.2 points

Got delayed by traffic by Parlkand High school and learned some wisdom from graffiti . I parked up top and made the rope drop, only hitch was leaving my extra goggles at home . Spent most of the morning skiing with @indiggio and the bump crew. Bailed when the rain started. All in all great first day. Big thanks to Blue!2 points

Wanted to make it up there this morning but had to take advantage of the warm weather to put new rear axels/bearings/seals in the Jeep..1 point

With them closed tomorrow we had to get two days worth of shenanigans in a single day. I 1000% agree, BMDI, PPH, whatever and CBI has a new dinner menu apparently. Dirtwolf has eaten at mad places in Palmerton that I've always wanted to eat at but no 1 on my list is Bert's steakhouse.1 point

If I had woods and snow to noodle around in all the time I’d probably never do another “downhill” day again!1 point

Adult extended day are $44 according to BC website. still a good deal. Blackouts shouldn't be an issue; week between Christmas and New Year and the Presidents days of course. Best bet is to be there to start at 9 and get best snow. Mornings are mostly seniors and not too busy; home schooler crowd I think on Tuesday. Late day Thursday and Friday will have the busses showing up with schools. Let me know if you are coming up so we can say hey.1 point

Definitely not a bad opening day. Upper mountain snow was far better than lower due to the inversion. Midway by 11:30 was showing signs of major thinness as rocks and grass were poking through in the middle. Both sides of Midway bumped up for some early season fun. Right side of Vista outside the grooming berm was the ROTD as only a few daring souls went in there to get the goods. You had to dodge a couple of drainage ditches, but the snow there was worth it. Checked out Coming Soon and it had a fair amount of snow up top. Unfortunately lower Paradise is way too thin to open.1 point

I like that Eaf ended up in two random pictures, C1ers picture and Airheads from opposite ends of the “resort”…1 point

Some of the local ladies said there was just enough snow to XC at the Marble Mill site Park. They used their HOK skis but I was anxious to try out my Madshus. They have so much glide to them! In the first 5 minutes we went down a very small hill, and down I went. lol. By the next small hill I figured out how to descend without falling. Not graceful, but I got down it. The park is where they used to process Marble. There are a lot of random pieces carved and the old marble foundation pieces. 15 degrees and brilliant sunshine! Snow moving in this weekend. What a great spot that is a 10 min drive from my house to get some quick cardio in! These 2 ladies are in their 70’s but getting out there in a regular basis. I hope to be this active at their age. Plus they have such great stories.1 point

@mbike-ski and I took a chance and toured up Bearpen Mountain ... about 25 minutes from Hunter/Windham. There was some liquid precip yesterday and the temps were cold last night, so our backup plan was a tour up Windham. We arrived in the middle of nowhere and did a quick snow check. It was *ok* with a slight crust. We hoped it was better up high. About 2/3 of the way up we came across a skier coming back down the snowmobile trail and he said he dipped into the woods and it was rough so he bailed. We were that far, so to the top we went. The grade was perfect. Nothing as steep as Hunter/Windham's uphill routes. After reaching the summit and enjoying a beer, we scoped out the lines from earlier in the week to have some knowledge for a future trip. The top half was still firm, but the lower half was insanely fun spring snow. Had we waited 30-60 minutes at the summit, I think most of our run would've been like that, but we both had a huge smile on our face at the bottom. It was fun. 10/10 would do again.1 point

Yeah, but blackouts are an issue for me trying to get the boys there, because all the days off school are the blackout days! 🤣0 points
