im dreaming here, but i'd love for their response to this event being some sort of guarantee for advertised large snowfall events. highspeeds will be operational at open. 30% back for each downed lift. sprinkle in some wait time algorithm where a third lift might not be required. no managed lines at open - 20% back no vip lines at open - 10% back one can wish5 points

Rode from 11 -1, very good soft snow, minimal lumpiness but enough to keep speed at level 9. Overall the hill did remarkably well, though for those that like to travel at speed be very careful at the waterbars, the end of dis and the crossover from Vista to midway both are sporting 2x1 ft chasms that are best delt with in the air. Main has a big fucking hole from all the water running underneath but otherwise held fast super grip arc arc arc turns. Nobody was home which is the best condition and it was super nice to let them fly. First thing in the morning when it's still smooth you could really let them run.4 points

Don't forget Rona, mad people had to go play outside and turns out touching grass is actually pretty dope. Bikes are the same way, mad people stopped riding once things went back to kinda normal but mad people found out they loved it. I'm not besmirching them just saying there are way more people outdoors now.4 points

Just got back from an afternoon sesh at The Camel. Snow coud best be described as creamy, super saturated and fast. It's gonna be all about that solid base after a freezing night. Lapped the park lift mostly which only contains a stall feature, down rail and 10-15 jump. Fun but very much lacking compared to Blues early season park yet nice to have a dedicated lift to lap it. Finished out with some laps down Asp, Hump and King Tut. Forgot how legit Camelbacks steeps are for the very short duration your get to go down them, so short. Oddly it although it was super light crowds today the top premium parking lot had about 50 cars with playes from about 20 states. Ikon doing it's thing I suppose. I'll be back at Blue for the foreseeable near future. I'll check Camelback again when they upgrade the parks. All in all a creamy cool sesh at The Camel.3 points

Actually I think the passes discourage people from taking up skiing. Beginners don't buy season passes. When they think about trying skiing they look at the now exorbitant day ticket prices plus rentals and go snow tubing or ice skating. I actually heard a father at blue a few years ago suggest to his two young boys that snow tubing might be more fun after seeing the lift ticket prices.3 points

That's the big castle you try to either defend or attack at Skirmish Paintball. I only went there once but it was fun.3 points

you know im not talking about uncontrollable things like avalanches. i'm talking about things that are basics, like lift lines being managed appropriately and lifts being up. if they're going to advertise three lifts, run three if lines are miles out of the corrals. i don't expect perfection but i expect the simple things to be handled.3 points

I don't even really like country music but you can't help but get down to Chattahoochee. Lows in the teens monday/Tuesday night, if it works out that is a really good blowing window3 points

The whole Epic/Ikon thing is interesting. I think it definitely encouraged more people and families to take up skiing, which is a good thing, for them and for the sport. Once upon a time Epic pass ruled in Colorado. When Eldora was on Epic they had the same problems you guys are experiencing at Blue. But they have such limited capacity parking it was unsustainable. They switched to Ikon. I never went to Eldora on weekends but I think now it’s just as bad as when they were on Epic. I think both passes, here at least, are the same. Most of my friends who used to be on Epic switched to Ikon. They hated dealing with Vail and Breck. But now Winter Park and Copper are just as bad crowd wise. I have seen the huge increase in crowds since Crested Butte went Epic. It’s not as bad as the front range resorts but people have definitely discovered it. I puked in my mouth paying for a full Aspen pass this season. I haven’t skied there too much yet, but based on crowds Christmas week, the full price definitely keeps it manageable. I agree with you guys that if Blue goes full Ikon, it’s gonna be a shit show and that’s a shame.2 points

We just need 7 snow storms so they’ll all use their Ikon passes and then it can go back to normal. Easy.2 points

BenM might be to much of a party boy for us. Him and ridge might want to rent their own cabin so they can rage all night to U21 point

The avalanches are gonna be insane in JH…weeks of hoar frost and crystals on top of an old shallow snowpack and then lighter density snow and wind slab..and the next storm this weekend coming in warm…it’s like trying to build a house with a foundation of potato chips…1 point

Nice report wish I could be there. Work today was stupid…I have a 20 ounce Mountain Dew for you the next time I see you. I was gonna treat myself to a Gatorade from the vending machine after clearing my car off and hit D6 instead of B6 SMH…1 point

One of my friends dads was one of the founding members of Jefferson Airplane, Jerry Peloquin…jefferson airplane merged into jefferson starship which continued on as Starship back in the 80s when everybody was dancing on the ceiling.1 point

The only tech i see is a radar to tell them how deep the base is, as far as i could tell, from what i watched. As cool as it is, its only as good as the people that use it, and how they use it. Every piece of equipment has a huge computer screen on it these days. Its a problem for the older generation. you know, the guys that wont use an iphone, and struggle with a flip phone....those types. I have guys at work that struggle with sending emails from an iphone. And just blatantly wont do it because its "new" and it will take them 20 minutes to learn how. We have a really expensive brand new paver that we struggle with, because its less levers and cables, and all done by wires, and, you guessed it, has a huge computer screen on it, and does fancy shit like self adjust based on points you put in it, or reads off of a curb. Lots of tech for a bunch of low tech guys. Cant teach an old dog, new tricks.1 point

That's because they groom immediately after blowing, there's no time for the "snow" to dry out. Look at how good the snow was on Coming Soon when it first opened and Raisins (from what I was told), since the snow had time to sit.1 point

When I was in college it was a big deal when the major rich people resorts like Vail Aspen and Stowe cracked the $50 lift ticket barrier but back then gas was a dollar a gallon and two people could go out for a nice supper for $501 point

Lost 12:51am, restored 10:00am... Lost Astound for a while too, but they got it back up 10:30am. Ash came down in the back, but instead of just breaking off top limbs, the whole thing uprooted. Luckily it wasn't a very tall one and missed hitting anything. Heard the crash early this morning.1 point

I'm pretty sure they only have the Henrik harlut 2.0 but I'll double check today. My daughters school was delayed two hours so I'm on the early afternoon schedule but last I checked they had no gold, ripper or the Evo pattern.1 point

i know they have pivots, for what ever reason, they dont carry spx's for whatever reason. But your main question, i dont know what colors they have or which flair package is on them.1 point

Has anyone seen what the selection of bindings looks like at the Blue mountain shop? Want to use my pass discount to get some pivot 15’s and wondering what assortment of colors they might have.1 point

I'll piss in the Cheerios. It also allows them to cut off the guns earlier than they might have in the past to save money -- sorry, be most efficient -- and get (and then keep) each trail at the minimum depth they think it needs to be skiable. A lot less "blow it deep, spread it out" than in the past. Which is great if it allows them to turn on more guns elsewhere. But is less snow on the mountain overall if they target certain trails and then target thin spots on those trails and aren't maxing capacity. I would say Blue wouldn't do it that way. But KSL would.1 point

I have no idea how either is pronounced. The last time I went white water rafting was on the Ocoee river in Tennessee. Pronounced O-Coy. Not to be confused with the Chattahoochee where it gets hotter than a hoochie coochie.1 point

I think their book looks like this 1. Make sure BMR is catered to 2. Is the paid parking ok? 3. Hows the magic carpet on frontier alley, is it ready yet? 4. Check on the lifts at the bottom, they're probably fine tho. 5. Profit1 point
