Snuck out yesterday after work while it was still snowing for some xc miles at Bethlehem municipal 9-hole golf course and some of the little league fields. Felt great getting in some movement on snow and xc boots don't hurt my foot anywhere near as much as downhill boots right now so that is a win. Maybe go out for an evening mile or two or possibly tomorrow while there is still some snow around. Gotta embrace it since last year wasn't feasible. There were 3 other sets of tracks out there from what looks like the last snowstorm. Nice place to just cruise around.9 points

Hey All, I’m back from another fun morning at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at 7:25am and the temperature was in the low teens. In the house were Atomic Jeff, JFDan, Johnny Law, Mixilplix, Salty, TP4, Mute, BooBear, Enjorales, Pops, MBike Mike, Nastar Glenn, Schifdawg, Nancy, BenM, Charles and many others. First order of business was getting my bad foot into ski boot…success. Second civilian chair on the super summit safari six pack. First run on Main Street which was pretty good. First slow squeaky snow of the season I’ve skied…Lazy had nice snow as well and got my first falls of the season. No lip on the falls and the runout was smooth. Up the quad to Coming soon which was a bit ratty but good grip. Lower paradise already a clusterfuck like 820am. Then skied Paradise and decent snow but very busy. I did one run on lower Widowmaker to midway to lower main and lower Widowmaker was small cookies. The Chute is open but pure cookies. Definitely some entertaining lift rides seeing beginners out of control on chute and Main Street and even a runaway ski. I skied lazy again and ended my session with a couple on Main Street..upper Main Street was pretty quiet. Guns are blasting on nightmare/dreamweaver and challenge. Fun but chilly parking lot, first parking lot session I kept my gloves on this season. Also had a Tesla parked like 16” away from my car. While I skied liftlines were a few minutes max but I’m sure they got into the 10+ minute range. All the high speeds running helped, helped make the trails more crowded lol. I’m probably skipping tomorrow and sleeping in had my fill of Blue…gotta get ready for JH on Tuesday. See everybody in February for the third quarter. JADIP5 points

Hit Snowmass today. Lift lines were actually busier than Christmas week. I guess because conditions are much better. Base lift had about a 20ish minute wait. Went to where I knew and headed back to the Big Burn lift. Lines were 10-15 min but I kept taking the singles line and it was like 3 minutes. conditions were good, everyone spread out and runs felt empty. There is some fun terrain off that lift. Lots of stuff in between runs not groomed. Tried to do a bunch in there, as my instructor at Aspen said last season “practice makes permanent.” just a few shots Was nice to actually ski with some sunshine today. Last few times have been very flat light.5 points

Lots of fun to be had today as the snow was excellent mostly everywhere save Le Shite. A single run down that was plenty! Later in the morning. Stopped across from it to watch a snowboarder coming down on his back full speed directly for a girl who was standing near the bottom of Chute watching this guy headed right for her! In a bought of panic, she stood there like a deer in the headlights, but then got it together enough to move backwards just in time for the boarder to slide past her and into the Boulder ditch! Typical Blue antics! Saw another boarder on Lazy just under the OG6 getting places on a back board and neck brace. Not good! VIP line on the OG6 was the shit! We stayed until 1pm with only 5 or so minute wait times. Still wish people these days would learn to count to 6. I swear there’s a dimensional warp just before the lift as people weee mysteriously disappearing after they’d been grouped in 6s. Mountain Dew & Vodka is Keith’s go-to since he can no longer drink beer due to his gout.4 points

8 out of 10. On the way back from skiing went grocery shopping and it didn’t bug me at all walking around. I also put my passenger seat floor mat down in the lot getting into and out of my boots…it’s a trick I learned from some of the boomers.4 points

It all went to shit when they began seeding the bump runs. The old natural bump runs where there was no real line or jumps was where creativity and skill excelled. You had to pick your way through the bumps, picking a good one to launch a trick and lane back into the random bumps. Not that these latest bumpers aren’t remarkable in their own right, ripping them at full speed and send some gymnastics off the jumps, but it’s just too rigid and took the “Hot Dog” and much of the fun out of it. When mogul comps were Tits McGee… https://youtu.be/9mYyvdTK0Cc?si=lKAkCoZQEkGPNTMh3 points

Afternoon foray. Deep Creek park at Greenlane. I had thoughts of untracked runs but there were tons of parents and kids who left not 1” untouched ☹️ So I settled for a couple laps off the disc golf path , no much pitch but fun . Met a fellow named Rodney who skis at Blue a lot. He was doing some XC with a bunch of family.3 points

The snow today was calling to stay out and ski but the crowds made it impossible. So much would be improved if they just stood around elsewhere. Maybe instead of right in front of the corrals you moved over 20 ft but that's probably wishful thinking. Upper main was a carpet just do whatever you want skiing mid was like wtf and lower was ok. Lazy and dis were very good but they get so slow in good snow. Coming Soon the headwall still has primo grip but is still so ratty. Major props to gss for the mtn dew, no one I know agrees but it's just hyper refreshing post ski and to beer Jesus for the double hook up. I'm going to have to gift you a domestic servant and one of the good ones from Indonesia to begin to return the favor. I'm cautiously optimistic for tomorrow but another groom never hurts and hopefully everyone went today.3 points

Rode with my dad from 10-2. Fun conditions. Razors opened on my last lift ride up so got ROTD last run. My dad plays 6am ice hockey so since I was going with him I played as well before riding. Had set my alarm to 4 am to get to my parents house but woke up at 2:45am and couldn’t go back to sleep. Roads were snow covered leaving hockey and looked like they needed plowing, but weren’t bad at all by the time we got to landsdale. Ended up getting 5 inches in Downingtown. I’m confused if the plowing was good down here or if the snow didn’t really stick to the roads as the day went on, cause the roads were perfect. Always fun riding blue in natural snow, good amount of people there3 points

I have an urgent request. If anyone can bring six Miller lite equivalents tomorrow it'll be much appreciated. Can venmo. My wife is apparently choosing alcohol tonight and I'm pretty sure I'll have nothing left in the morning. Thanks and god bless.2 points

On the flip side, when I left there were still 62 spots left in the Valley VIP lot.2 points

Le Shite is usually totally rad. Today it looked like a shite glacier. I commend you with kudos and high honors for braving the shite glacier.2 points

I bet vtmark got mad lattes at the gangbang One day would be the jackpot of b roll, all the stuff off le chute alone but hot damn that ski was trucking. Normally I'm pro shenanigans but that's majorly uncool. Reason number 2929281849 to never stop moving at blue. Yelling off the lift at people eyeing a line is a requisite I think, one to stoke them up but two to build tension for the peanut gallery until they actually go.2 points

Mountain Dew and whiskey is my go to drink after summer round of golf. Something about it just hits the G spot of post activity refreshment2 points

You’re at a mountain you drink Mountain Dew and you fist bump your homeys…we all have different tastes..I’d be surprised if VTMark was drinking a vanilla latte or Mute was having a mikes harder blue raspberry which I heard are delicious. Different slopes for different folks with an emphasis on stoke. People really got after it in the 2” that fell yesterday. A ride up the OG six pack revealed lots of tracks on the MBike trails and sidewinder..people really got after it. One lift ride..on one of the corners of lower sidewinder a skier was eyeballing cutting the corner which is easy for us noob it’s intimidating and our chair and the one behind with Indiggio and slim and the bumpers were all like Send It…that’s the sort of thing that makes blue fun. Also the runaway ski..I’m really surprised warren miller never filmed at Blue…no need to drive all the way to Hunter to film some B roll.2 points

I agree I'll take a nice slow big aired 360 styled out over 1800's anyday. I think most freestyle minded skiers and riders feel similar but still respect the crazy dedication and hard work it takes to achieve big comp glory today.2 points

I still say the trick with the most steeze on skis is still a massive 180, I loved park skiing for like a decade, I still love to watch Casabon, Harlut etc etc but the spin to win stuff just screams aerials to me and that shit while very impressive is like the least cool thing ever. It's just diving with more hassle.2 points

Upper Widowmaker wasn’t too bad. Chute could definitely use a couple more days grooming. People shooting down from lower sidewinder to the slow crowd at the top of Barb’s way made things interesting. Central Park was a featureless bypass to Barb’s way. Gates already set up on Razors at 8 am. Left at 9:30 when lines on all 3 lifts were getting backed up. Nice while it lasted. People talking about their trips coming up.2 points

It's evolving. The male pros have become hard to watch. Competition went from style to regimented super strict olympic type training spinning to win to the point you can't even count the rotations on the tricks anymore. Air bag training and such has become almost a requirement. No longer can you be that grungy park rat from New Jersey or Rutland and climb the ranks like days of old. New things have come to fruition like Natural Selections and such we can't really relate to on the East Coast. Female XGames and Olympics have become the ones to watch because you can still tell what tricks they're doing. Rail Jams and that type of park and or events seem to have grown in popularity over the halfpipe and slopestyle days past. Times have also changed where far more kids play on their phones and PCs than play outside. It seems to be making a bit of a come back though. Big Snow is a big boost to this region for the park scene. It will be interesting to see which direction it goes, going forward.2 points

Rode this morning with AS, JfDan and nick. Roads are way too clean so kinda busy first thing. Maybe an inch at blue or more, there is 3 or so in the ding so I'd imagine there is more on the way for blue. Conditions as you would expect are mostly excellent, lazy and dis are set it and forget it though lazy is a little slow. Coming Soon the headwall again was a bit ratty but super grip to let them run some. Upper main is very good though as you move down it gets firmer and more washboardy. I didn't ski Widow after yesterday but JF said it still needs more time. They hadn't finished pushing razors so none of that was open. Blowing on NMDW, le chute and maybe Challenge though I only saw the top gun on. Tomorow should be le tits assuming it isn't overrun by front platers and all of Delco.1 point

Just keep it on Come around, then you have a dedicated run and there is plenty of space to hike a rail or you can just run the goofy ass Vista chair. Add in Lower Side and what used to be the half pipe trail but keep whatever its called open to go to the lift1 point

They got to move the park on Barb’s. It is a zoo with people going to summit lift. No room for the park rats to use the features.1 point

Really? im no longer intrigued by whats going on in that weird chainsaw/hatchet/big hole in the ground/rubs on the lotion shed. i need to get busy getting a life.1 point

I think the park scene is dying out. 15-20 years ago it was huge with terrain parks and half pipes at even little ski areas. Big boulder was an almost all park mountain. I think a lot of the JibHonks have grown up and either don’t ski anymore or keep their skis on the snow. When blue first opened a terrain park, it was called a snowboard park and I believe snowboarders only.1 point

A day with the DW at Frost. Everything pretty much open on the west side with the exception of Exhibition, and they have a dozen guns and a fan on that. Maybe this weekend. Huge whales on one park (which was open), maybe will reset the features for the weekend. Snow is its usual great condition. Frost usually keeps the whales intact until they groom it all out. No death cookie factories here. Quiet vibe today, some geezers, some newbies, some boarders. Don’t know about east mountain, but the crossovers top and bottom are covered. No tubing so far this year.1 point

Up again to JF, started snowing just as I turned in about 9. Pretty steady snow until about 11:30 when it started sleeting. Challenge and Dematte’s in great shape, nicely buttered with freshies. They opened up thunderbolt for about an hour as the ski patrol was putting padding and sticks defining the edges, closed it about 11 for some reason. Exhibition still not anywhere near close to being ready. Maybe about 50 or 60 people in the house.1 point
