Since yesterday morning had few people, made a last minute decision to come today as I expected few people. So far place is empty. Somehow got first chair and first civilian run on Main Street…pure carpet. Just did a nice run down razors. This is how I remember weekday mornings pre Covid. Probably will be mashed potatoes. “I remember how it used to be.” -Dr Dre10 points

1/24/24… Day 1 of 7. Hey All, I’m back from another fun day at Jackson Hole mountain resort. This morning dawned warm and a little foggy with temperatures in the 30s in the valley and 20s on the mountain. As mentioned earlier there was a car wreck which delayed our arrival by about 30+ minutes but still we’re about to get on the gondola around 910am. First run was amphitheater almost zero visibility..snow was good..not 4” new but about 2”. Up the Thunder lift and down Grand which was 3D snow and hard to see again. Up the Sublette chair and did Rendevous trail first which was nice and empty, some visibility on the lower half. The new South Pass traverse from Sublette to Thunder chair is way better and more direct. Back to Thunder and skied Laramie bowl..which bad vis, it was almost like a funnel from the top so east to stay in a tight line without venturing to far off and bottom half good visibility so you could let the skis run. Then back up Sublette to Bivoac which were big bumps and my first Moe Ghouls of the season. Then back to Thunder again and another Laramie bowl to Sublette. At the top of Sublette Atomic Jeff and Mute wanted to ski the Hobacks and I didn’t want to so I went back to Laramie bowl again then traversed to Casper area, then took Blacktail to Sundance gully to the base. I was a little early to meet the boys so just took the teewinot lift up once to kill a few minutes. Back at the base and Mute and Atomic Jeff were there and we took teewinot to Apres Vous the skied Werner or Hanna to Teton lift then up Teton lift and down wide open to stash park back to apres vous chair and up apres vous again. By this point I had my Phil like Mickelson and skied down to the base..snow was getting a little spring like a choppy. Mute skied a little bit more. We then had lunch at the Mangy Moose…tonight’s supper is at Gather…I also just did a little work getting 1099s ready to send out. Fun fun fun.10 points

1/23/24 It’s the wife’s birthday “week”, so decided to head up to New Hampshire to celebrate by hitting a bunch of ski slopes on Epic & Indy passes, even through she no longer skis. Outta the house at 6am to stay ahead of any potential feeeIng rain which was successful, as we only encountered a few sprinkles along the way. Rolled into the first stop of the trip at Crotched Mountain. Interesting little hill that would be perfect for beginners, lots of variety of trails and the diamonds aren’t really all that challenging. The mountain is outta the way, so I ended up skiing right onto the lift every run, even with it being Primary day in New Hampshire. Snow was in excellent condition with chalky goodness everywhere, so there was no fear of setting an edge and arcing a turn. The whole mountain has a space theme to it, with the park even named NCC-1701 for all the Trekkies out there. Also had a Rocket Fuel IPA at the bar afterwards. Not a super challenging place, but was able to find a fun line right down under the only lift they had running today. Just a one-under-the-gun on the Epic pass.8 points

Hey All, I’m here in Jackson hole with Atomic Jeff and Mute, NMSki and Dirtwolf arrive on Thursday. Flight from Newark was at 10:09am EST and me and atomic Jeff arrived at the Jh airport at 12:46pm MST. Went to the 49er, rooms weren’t ready yet. Back to the airport and picked up Mute from his Chicago flight. Back to the 49er, Mutes room was ready and me and AJeffs not ready. We then went to the brewery for a late lunch and finally checked in. Gonna relax a little and then maybe have some supper. It’s super warm in town, upper 30s and not much snow. Looks like the mountain should ski well due to the 5-6 feet they’ve received the past two weeks. Also some snow shower activity. Not many pictures so far, the cloud ceiling was low so I didn’t take any pics from the sky.3 points

1/24/24 Woke up in the Lincoln lodge to see a couple of inches fell and the cars were covered. Had already rolled the dice on going to Cannon, as I had to reserve a date and get a Cannon RFID card connected to Indy. A PITA but whatever. Rolled up the road as snow fell into the Franconia Notch and the funneled wind started picked up, big time! Come He’ll or high winds, I was skiing the Cannon. Ip the Peabody lift and over to the Cannonball to the peak. Why am I the only person on this lift??? It’s 9:30, there’s should be many people on here?? About halfway up, the 10-15 MPH winds were well below actual, as the lift was slowing often. Midway up I was questioning why we do this again and again? After disembarking and heading down Upper Ravine in boot-deep, blown-in powder, I remembered. Rode up with a local who recommended Hardscrabble, so gave that a whirl. Icy, bumped, hard, thin, everything the East can throw at you, but fun nonetheless. After a short break, headed over to the Zoomer triple area. Zoomer & Avalanche had huge whaleS waiting to be pushed, on the other side there was fresh blown-in perder that made for some fun runs! Afternoon the snow started changing over to not snow, so headed to the bar for a couple before heading out. Back at the lodge it was hot tub and then to the Woodstock Inn brewery for some much needed dinner. Morning view from the Lodge… Cannon base… Who they worship up here… Meatloaf dinner, feels like I ate 20lbs. of lead…3 points

First night session of the year for me 5:45 start . Things were firming up from earlier Main st not fun marbles near the bottom. Coming soon ditch was ok with some thin spots. Paradise wasn’t bad . Razors was really nice on the sides up top but got a little thin and the runout was rather shiny. Fun night got better as the surface got skied over a bunch.2 points

Today was nice. Light mist turned to light rain by the time I left at 11. Everything was in really good shape, hero snow. They closed razorback, and the lower part of razors for slalom practice, so you had to exit at the crossover to Falls. Lazy, Main St., Widowmaker, were in really good shape, they got a little soft, but never snow piles or slushy. The only complaint was that the right side of lower main had a lot of groomer bumps, and that’s where I skied to avoid the schussboomers coming down from Midway along the left side which was a lot smoother. Summit lift had some problems off and on, and the quad got a little crowded sometimes but not too bad. Slopes were pretty crowded by the time I left, but not as bad as yesterday. They desperately need another wide slope, like sidewinder, to open up to take some of the pressure off other slopes. All in all, one of the better days on the mountain. Switched from my RTMs to my Head Kores about 1030 and they handled the soft stuff a lot better.1 point

Skied with the grandkids at Frost. 3 yo got a little cold after 4 or 5 runs on Frosty, but the 4 yo was out for over an hour. Fries and hot chocolate as a reward.1 point
