Rode from 9 to 1115, hero snow on everything but between the rain and fog I couldn't see anything. I did make out c1er from the lift and BFG crew but we were a full rotation off. First run down main I knew it would be good grip and should be smooth so let them go but I was 90% blind setting the edge the light was so flat. The hill did pretty good post 586436th rain of the season. The usual brown spots are coming through and some new ones like up top on Coming Soon. Crowds were low but a little busier than a normal rain day as there was a bus group from God knows where. Around 1030 it really started to get nice and it was grip it and rip it everywhere though the fog was super stubborn and if anything was moving down the hill. Really good morning to be out and let them run, a bit like tp4's report where it's more the days of old. Had you been able to see anything it would have been 10/10.7 points

After a week of flat light the sun finally emerged today! When I took my dog for a pre sunrise walk and saw the bright full moon I was like, oooh a chance for no clouds today! my friend slept in and I sent her a text I was leaving. Got there right at 9 no lift lines to speak of. It was very chilly this morning. Headed right down to East River and it was so icy. So went back to Paradise, that was better. Then scoped out my usual smaller bump areas. Only one shot today. I think this is Middle Twister not positive though.7 points

1/25/24 Decided to meet ip with more of the Blue bumpers down at Sunapee, so left the condo about 6:45am to get us there about 8:30, but spicy road conditions delayed the arrival by about 10 minutes. Arrived in the parking lot to 34’ and broken clouds with some blue sky, but the top of the mountain was socked in. Rode ip the front express and into the cloud to flat light and horrible visibility. Much of the runs back down were half in the clouds and then in the clear near the bottom. The runs at Sunapee are crazy wide and the snow was soft butter, nearing the slower spring condition, but you could really open them up once you got down enough to see. Ip top there we’re surprise skeet spots that would take the skis out right from under you! We attempted some glade runs but the snow in them was the rotten, thick stuff that’s waiting to grab a ski and wrench a knee, so no trees today! After riding all the running lifts and the majority of the open slopes, we decided to bail on Sunapee and double-dip at Pat’s Peak. Pat’s is a tiny little family oriented slope with tons of school programs that come to the mountain in shifts. There are lessons going on everywhere! Unfortunately the lift system is all donkeys! The snow was slow butter here too but visibility was excellent. The runs are short and the lift rides long. They have a nice double-diamond, Hurricane, that’s somewhat steep and all natural bumps. Needless to say that was the ROTD as the snow was soft and the bumps a hoot! For dinner we rode up past Cannon to Rek-Lis brewing for a couple of beers and a Hot Mess burger that was delicious but not really picture worthy. Sunapee Pat’s Peak7 points

January 26, 2024…..day 3 of 7. Hey All, I’m back from another fun day at Jackson hole mountain resort. Today began with a few flakes falling and an angry inch of new snow on the mountain. Temperatures in the 20s with light winds and partly sunny skies with areas of fog. In the house were Atomic Jeff, NMSki, Dirtwolf and Mute. First civilian gondola again and finally got that dream Amphitheater, full visibility, completely empty, and wall to wall cord carpet with an inch of titty sparkles on top. Up Thunder and Laramie was similar and I flew down that. Then Bivoac which wasn’t groomed but still very soft and grippy back to Sublette and skied ten sleep bowl to the cirque which was pretty good and still plenty of freshies. Now amphitheater was fully in the fog..back up thunder and skied grand which wasn’t as good as yesterday but OK… Then a Bivoac woods run…mostly moguls…up Sublette again and Sublette had a pretty long high as people were staying high to avoid the fog, usually when I try and stay high in in a fog. The boys then did the Hobacks and I wanted to preserve myself so did Bivoac again to Rendevous trail to south pass traverse to Gros verte to the base. I was way to early at the base and just did a quick teewinot lap just to kill some time. Met up with Ajeff, Mute and NMSki a few minutes later and I guess Dirtwolf got sick in the Hobacks, I didn’t remember if he just spewed or blew chunks, he definitely hurled. Then up teewinot to apres vous then down a pretty crappy groomer to teton lift then skied a woods/bump run through stoke ville and I was getting tired so went back to the car to join Dirtwolf and the others did two more runs then we had lunch at the Mangy Moose.4 points

Good day. Struggled a bit on the top razors headwall because of the rained over frozen groomer ruts in the fog. It was too bad because the rest of Razors was primo. Rock sticking out left center of flat part of TCS. Barb’s way really hit hard by the rain. Otherwise, things were good, especially top and bottom left of Main St. Widowmaker and Lazy were also in good shape. Fog on top never lifted by the time I left at 11. I think the first two buses were from the Cumberland Valley school system. They came up to Little Gap and turned in at the covered bridge inn to go over the stream on the covered bridge. Took a while for them to turn around and come back out to the cut over near the fairgrounds.4 points

1/26/24 The reason for the trip, FIS World Cup Mogul competition at Waterville Valley, the birthplace of freestyle skiing. Up early because of crappy wintry mix forecasted for the day. Left the condo around 6:45 to drizzle, ugh! Drizzled most of the highway ride, but sleet started mixing in and tree er getting off. During the drive up snow started mixing in and by the time we got to the parking lot, it was full-on snow. Yes! Met up with Slim and rode bump skis all day because… Up the lower lift and the competition run came into view, Holy F! They’re gonna rip this thing?? It’s steep as shit, foggy, snowy, sleet, drizzle. Rode up the adjacent lift and saw a cut through over to Lower Bobby’s named after Bobby Kennedy. At the top of the run, they didn’t have a Closed sign, so we rolled on down. Truly lipstick on a pig, as the underneath was a hint above boiler with some rocks popping through. Watched some of the women’s qualifiers and then headed down. Up the lookers left lift in search of Wayne Wong Way. Beautiful untouched 3” of powder to Wayne’s, bah closed but it looked good enough to poach. Rolled around to check out Won’s from below to find a massive exposed cliff! Ok. Lapped that lift since nobody was on it and there were lots of freshies to be had. After a lunch break, headed up the bubble and since I hadn’t been to Waterville before, Slim took me up the T-bar at the top. Yup once and done. Back down to Lower Bobby’s for the women and men’s finals and awards. Seeing these people rip these bumps on video just does not do them justice until you see them do it live and the jumps are crazy! Headed into town later for the USA team member announcements and interviews, but didn’t stay for the fireworks. IMG_8660.mov3 points

January 25…Day 2 of 7 Hey All, I’m back from another fun day at Jackson hole mountain resort. We departed the 49er at 805am and arrived in the village lot at 825ish. Booted up, hit the head and walked up to the gondola. First civilian gondola and down Aphitheater which was flat light but at least not foggy like yesterday. Up Thunder and down Grand which was groomed and very nice. Up Sublette and down Bivoac, yesterday Bivvy was a mogul field and today it was groomed and really nice chalky powdery surface. Skied that to Rendevous trail back up Sublette and did ten sleep bowl to the cirque. Most of the cirque was bumps and a section had been groomed maybe two days ago, first few turns a little slick and better lower down then into some 3D snow in the gully below and back into amphitheater to Thunder. Up Thunder to another grand run to Sublette and another cirque back down to Thunder then another grand to Thunder and then Bivoac to Rendevous train to Rawlins bowl to lower Sublette ridge. Rawlins bowl was pretty nice some semi 3D snow then lower down was where it was above freezing yesterday and refrozen so challenging. I got real sweaty but survived. Up union pass lift over to teewinot, then up teewinot to apres vous down one of the herb routes on AV to teton lift then up teton lift to wide open, past the Casper chair over to the bottom of lower tram line. Mute said we skied just under 20k vert and 13 runs…We had lunch at Osteria, then picked up NMSki at JH airport. Dirtwolf arrives in a half hour or so. JADIP3 points

Short 12-1:30 session , I swear I heard a foghorn. Up top still about 50’ visibility . I was feeling pretty crappy and fighting a cold but wanted to ski some bumps. 5 or 6 runs down main . Last run I could actually see. Busses were rolling In when I left. Way overdressed I was soaked from the inside and low energy level but happy I went.2 points

The cloudy weather gets me down a little bit, as I love to rip in the sun, but having a JH virgin in @Dirtwolf gets me excited to show him around tomorrow.2 points

1/23/24 It’s the wife’s birthday “week”, so decided to head up to New Hampshire to celebrate by hitting a bunch of ski slopes on Epic & Indy passes, even through she no longer skis. Outta the house at 6am to stay ahead of any potential feeeIng rain which was successful, as we only encountered a few sprinkles along the way. Rolled into the first stop of the trip at Crotched Mountain. Interesting little hill that would be perfect for beginners, lots of variety of trails and the diamonds aren’t really all that challenging. The mountain is outta the way, so I ended up skiing right onto the lift every run, even with it being Primary day in New Hampshire. Snow was in excellent condition with chalky goodness everywhere, so there was no fear of setting an edge and arcing a turn. The whole mountain has a space theme to it, with the park even named NCC-1701 for all the Trekkies out there. Also had a Rocket Fuel IPA at the bar afterwards. Not a super challenging place, but was able to find a fun line right down under the only lift they had running today. Just a one-under-the-gun on the Epic pass.1 point

1/24/24 Woke up in the Lincoln lodge to see a couple of inches fell and the cars were covered. Had already rolled the dice on going to Cannon, as I had to reserve a date and get a Cannon RFID card connected to Indy. A PITA but whatever. Rolled up the road as snow fell into the Franconia Notch and the funneled wind started picked up, big time! Come He’ll or high winds, I was skiing the Cannon. Ip the Peabody lift and over to the Cannonball to the peak. Why am I the only person on this lift??? It’s 9:30, there’s should be many people on here?? About halfway up, the 10-15 MPH winds were well below actual, as the lift was slowing often. Midway up I was questioning why we do this again and again? After disembarking and heading down Upper Ravine in boot-deep, blown-in powder, I remembered. Rode up with a local who recommended Hardscrabble, so gave that a whirl. Icy, bumped, hard, thin, everything the East can throw at you, but fun nonetheless. After a short break, headed over to the Zoomer triple area. Zoomer & Avalanche had huge whaleS waiting to be pushed, on the other side there was fresh blown-in perder that made for some fun runs! Afternoon the snow started changing over to not snow, so headed to the bar for a couple before heading out. Back at the lodge it was hot tub and then to the Woodstock Inn brewery for some much needed dinner. Morning view from the Lodge… Cannon base… Who they worship up here… Meatloaf dinner, feels like I ate 20lbs. of lead…1 point
