Kept an eye on the radar and rolled the dice today. Looked like there'd be a window around 815. Got there at eight to just a sprinkle and little to no fog at the top. Conditions excellent, snow was exactly like yesterday, precip very light. Best of all the place was dead. I think it was just me and racers. Got in maybe 7-8 runs before it started raining just a little more and called it a day. No apres, so now i have to figure out what to do for a couple hours. Might head up to Scranton for new bibs since i was reminded today that these ones are no longer waterproof.12 points

Sitting in Stanley’s at O’Hare waiting for my connection back home. Great trip with great guys. Flat light seemed to be a theme but we made the best of it. It’s awesome to have the best tour guides Atomic and GSS to have the answer for every weather condition. I did enjoy the unexpected room upgrade. Reserved the cheapest double queen room but ended up with a fireplace double queen that had lots of room for activities. My legs are tired so I guess that’s mission accomplished.10 points

1/27/24 After a quick breakfast at Flapjacks in Lincoln (recommended for good grub and they open at 7am, but it gets packed shortly after), we packed up the car and checked outta The Lodge. Since it didn’t look like rain, I couldn’t pass up the chance for another notch in the ski belt, so decided to make our way to the mighty Mohawk Mountain in Connecticut, since it’s on the Indy Pass. Not only is it another new mountain for me, but also another state, so why not? Over hill and Dale and into the back woods, the ride sure didn’t look like there was a ski mountain anywhere close as we approached a couple miles away. We turned into the road with the mountain label and there it appeared. It’s only like 650’ of vert, but it’s sprawling with a lot of lifts and night skiing. Rolling into the parking lot about 1pm, the main lot was full, so had to go muddin’ into the overflow lot. Luckily a guy was pulling out pretty close, so the pike wasn’t too bad. Getting a ticket off the Indy was painless and out I went to conquer this behemoth. Unfortunately all of the lifts are fixed donkeys and with all the families and beginners causing them to stop, it made for a real trial of patience. Up the Arrowhead and right down the namesake trail. The snow was soft as the temps were in the 40’s and the air was very moist. The drop is short from the top and the runs flatten for a long while. Up the Arrowhead again in search of some more fun and found an Experts Only lollipop which drew me in to find Wildwood and Chute. The “Caution Mogul Field Ahead” sign on Wildwood drew me in like a magnet, hoping to find some bumps to play in. Well, it did say “Mogul” and that’s about all there was, a single push pile part way down. Screamed down and back up Arrowhead to check out Chute. Chute wasn’t anything to write home Mom about, blew past lots of beginners fighting their way in the buttery soft snow and cruised on over to the namesake triple chair, hoping that Route 100 would be open, but no luck as they’re hurting for cold & snow too, so just cruised Mohawk again. Since the Deer Run lift was running, I had to ride it, it’s one of the rules. Made a speed run down Pine, which for the place should be a blue instead of a green. Being in Connecticut I wasn’t expecting a whole lot and Mohawk didn’t disappoint in that respect, but for a local mountain you slide what you got. There were packs of teens having a great time in the spring conditions, families out with their little ones playing in the snow is what it’s all about. We gripe about what Blue provides, but if you hit some of these even smaller places, you appreciate what Blue provides, warts and all! Looking up from the base… One of the donkey lifts… Wildwood & Chute… The base lodge from the lift…5 points

Sorta double dipped Friday night into Saturday opening bell. Friday night with my gf and niece and Saturday with my cousin. Friday night was a slow night as my gf is still learning to ski but she’s getting better and is now able to slowly make top to bottom runs. Saturday morning was an absolute blast with my cousin. Great snow and shockingly very low crowds. This is a pic from about the 3rd row in the parking lot Friday night.4 points

January 28, 2024 Day 5 of 7 Hey All, I’m back from another day at Jackson hole mountain resort. There were a few flakes falling this morning and the temperature was in the mid 20s. First civilian gondola again and sadly visibility wasn’t great early on with real flat light. The snow on amphitheater and Laramie bowl was nice..Rendevous trail also nice snow and a little better visibility. Did another Sublette lap then skied Lower tram line to the base. Mute had time for one more run before he had to leave for his flight and we took teewinot to Apres vous said bye to Mute, watched a few of the racers then skied over to the teton lift up teton and over to Casper area which had ok snow then up Casper and over to the Marmet lift which I haven’t been on in a few years and gives a different perspective. Crowds weren’t as bad as yesterday..a half corral max at Sublette, nothing really at thunder and minimal waits elsewhere. From marmet skied ranger under the gondola which was chalk bumps, then into Sundance gully to the base. I had my fill and NMSki took the tram for another lap. We had a quick lunch at the Mangy moose and now back in town…last night most of us went to the cowboy bar. It was packed to the gills with a band and the male female ratio was about 85:15 but most of the females were hot..I guess cause pf Taylor swift country music has gotten popular with chicks cause some were dresses like cowgirls and there was even a bachelorette party. due to low visibility I didn’t take many photos. Let’s hope the sun comes out tomorrow. pictures from Laramie bowl second run.3 points

Today’s snow was great. Did a first run with Beckyboo before wac drop off. Clearly I don’t look at trail reports and was pleasantly surprised by the new terrain open, worked my way from NMDW, challenge, lazy and main before rinse and repeat. Really fun as the trails got more bump. Lower challenge was alittle wompy from the grooming but to be expected I guess. Had fun riding the chairs with lots of people visiting for the first time year, I stuck to the OG6 all morning and never waited more than 2 chairs to get on. Crowds were light, took a snack break and then went out for 3 more runs before wac pickup. Didn’t realize how tired I was until about 1/2 way through the last fun. Becky and I were planning on a night session tomorrow but it looks like the rain has other plans since the mountain is closing at 4. Whomp whomp.3 points

Once you go bib, you never go back. ——— i have the flylow foxy insulated bib. Previously bibs wouldn’t work well for me because of the chest/shoulders but they recently made it with more flex up top. Love that companies are like actually innovating like @Barb bottom zips2 points

Nothing says stoke like “Ba ya da….da da da da……da da…….ba da da”. At least it wasn’t beauty and the beast like yesterday. props. Even if it was it raining I wasn’t getting there since I didn’t get to bed until 3:30. So Im selfishly glad it was raining as it gave me an excuse to stay in bed2 points

Oh and just a radio station update, no progress there. Seal's 'kiss from a rose' blasting when i walked up to the gates.2 points

Major props, I heard it raining when I woke up and sleeping in was calling just way too hard. When I actually woke up a little bit ago I and saw it was a baby rain it was like fuck I bet it was good. No place finds the limits of the outerwear like Blue, so much rain, like legit rain and then it can be so ungodly windy.2 points

Better than expected day today. In the house was JFDan, TP4, Law, Ben, MBike, Glenn, Schif, Boo, Nancy and lots of others. First run down NMDW was a carpet. 9.6 out of 10 on the blue scale. Was so nice we did it twice. The base on NMDW is huge. At one point you can probably touch the lift with your ski pole. No features... just NMDW in all it's glory. Challenge wasn't as good but not bad. It got bumpy right quick with race team and the ski patrol sled games. Curzis cabin to chute was anther really nice run with a little lip action on the right side of chute to spice it up. As the morning went in the snow loosened up... spring like etc. Cloudy with comfortable temps to start and the sun came out which was nice. Lines were a non issue. Good day today!2 points

Correct. I was on the chair and it had already left the terminal. An employee literally forced me to jump off the chair and climb back up onto the platform and then made me skate back and go back behind the gates. This was all after another employee had given me the ok to go through the gates and get on the chair (his exact words were “you’re good”.). I’m curious what KSL upper management would think hearing that an employee forced a customer to jump off the chairlift. 2 runs later the lifty said to me that he did it, and I quote, “to keep the masses happy as they were yelling.” I re-iterated with him that another employee had literally told me I could go. 80% of me wants to swallow my pride and let it go, but 20% of me sees the scuff marks on my new pants after having to squeeze through the gates, (since my pass has already scanned initially before he made me go back), and wonders if KSL would be interested in hearing about an employee forcing a customer to jump off the lift after the chair had left the platform and making them climb up from the rocks onto the platform2 points

Solid day at Bleu. Took some candids at the top @Johnny Law got there around 8:30, skied 11 or so runs, and then had some beers in the row. put skis back on, had some pocket beers, and got the half price pizza. We got the dreamweaver. But fan of it for $9.50. Not sure if any pizza is worth $19 though…2 points

1/27/24… Day 4 of 7 Hey all, I’m back from another day at Jackson hole mountain resort. Hopes of a repeat of the exploding boner conditions of yesterdays start were dampened by flat light and much firmer snow. We began on Amphitheater to Thunder. Amphitheater was stiff cord…Grand had better cord and a bit better Visibility. Bivoac woods are big bumps not what. I wanted early in the session..then the boys did Paintbrush and I don’t like that run cause of exposure, I’ve only skied it a few times before so skipped it and skied around to the bottom and the boys were taking forever and taking pictures so I split up with them. I want to try and ski more solo on these ski trips because I never meet anybody when I’m in a group and like chatting with people on chairlifts. It was just really enjoyable skiing alone for about 5 more runs despite some pretty shitty ski conditions and also pretty crowded. The only fresh I found was in the campground stash parks off Casper and a little bit in the Casper woods. Had my pecker out peeing in the woods when a whole ski school group came by on either side of the tree I was standing behind…not much to see as the temperatures were in the high teens. I did two Casper laps, one on Teton lift all the way to the base and I was chilly so took the gondola. In the gondola liftline some jackalope holding his ski by the binding ripped his toe piece right off. By 11:30 all the main trails were real scrapped off..while not a problem for me it was hilarious seeing all the herb tourons eating shit, seemed like every lift ride and every run snowboarders were faceplanting and from the Teton lift I saw some guy fall on his back into a hole. I quit a little before the boys and then we went to the AlpenHof which was closed, we checked out the mangy which I knew wouldn’t have a table and they wanted snake river brewery which we already had twice so I’m at Bubbas solo now eating a brisket platter.2 points

Indeed! It's one thing to watch videos of them doing it. It's a total different experience seeing it first hand. Videos just don't capture the pitch of the run. My knees where hurting standing there leaning into the hill it was so steep.1 point

You should definitely complain. I don't give two craps if people call me a Karen, Johnson or Jim-Bob. If you don't complain nothing will change and the incompetency will continue unnoticed. At my hotel house the other night, I immediately complained to the corporate office after having to move rooms due to their contractors' loud, annoying construction right above my room at 9 o'clock PM.1 point

I’m glad to hear this cause I was worried people would think I’m a Karen if I say something1 point

I feel like it's a constant issue. I can't remember how many times this season, we have watched the quad load while gates were fucked on a six - or we were just stopped after loading. If it was a gate issue tp4 would have been on his Merry way while we'd all just be like wtf is going on. I know there were others with me when the one liftie was saying something about not getting a phone call, or maybe they got it but didn't understand whether or not to open the lift - while the quad was already sending people up.1 point
-
At least for the pasrs we were yelling for you to make it and then at them when they turned you around. I say speak your mind, the real actual issue is they don't seem to know how the gates work at the old 6er. The same thing happened where only the outside were open one day last week.1 point

After a week of flat light the sun finally emerged today! When I took my dog for a pre sunrise walk and saw the bright full moon I was like, oooh a chance for no clouds today! my friend slept in and I sent her a text I was leaving. Got there right at 9 no lift lines to speak of. It was very chilly this morning. Headed right down to East River and it was so icy. So went back to Paradise, that was better. Then scoped out my usual smaller bump areas. Only one shot today. I think this is Middle Twister not positive though.1 point
