02/24/2024 - Travel Rick, son and myself left the house @ 2am headed for Newark to meet up with Slim, Gary, Gah skier George & Jr. for flight @ 6am headed for Toronto, then bro Vancouver. Uneventful flight and even stayed awake for all of Oppenheimer. Good flick. Since we’re actually on an Upper Bucks tour, we had to wait around a bit for the tour bus to arrive. Typical Pacific Northwest weather: rain and fog. Drove through downtown Vancouver because there’s no highway around it. Brilliant! Drive up to Whistler provided some amazing views of the Howe Sound, with mountains knitting straight up out of the water. Unfortunately I was on the wrong side of the bus for pics. After a grocery stop in Squamish, we resumed the ride into Whistler and checked into The Listel Hotel. Some pretty nice digs right next to town square. Dinner was some slices from Dat Tony’s which were delicious, the sauce was crazy good! Recommended for the food, no place to sit though. It didn’t matter since we were starving. Walked around the square a little and stocked up on essentials from the cannabis and liquor stores. Some light snow was falling and supposed to continue through the night. Leaving Newark… Vancouver airport… Vancouver… Squalmish… Witch of something imprint on the mountain… Whistler…9 points

Hey All, I’m back from another fun session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at 7:20am and it was 19 degrees under mostly sunny sky’s. Everybody was in the house except for the people who weren’t there. Second civilian six pack and already there was an argument on the lift because I guess one guy cut another guy off while making the dash for first chair which led to a jackalope falling and stopping the lift. First run on challenge was pretty nice, better than yesterday with nice packed powder and a couple mini root rollers, I ran that two more times and then hit up Main Street which was good enough for a repeat. I heard lazy 1.6 kilometers was bad so didn’t ski that. Sidewinder again I didn’t love…some light cookies and larger root rollers. Crowds today were moderate..no real lift lines until the quad stopped, the quad was stopped for about 20 minutes and I heard that people stuck received $15 vouchers. Widowmaker was good with no gates and midway was smooth. Some fresh silky manmade on paradise. Just like yesterday I skied ten runs by about 940. Was a fun parking lot, I had chips, a slice of tomato pie, a couple beers and a rum and Coke compliments of Mike from the Bethlehem Ford crew. Was funny seeing Asian people pull into a tiny parking spot with like 6” of space on either side and the ski school tram was showing us love. Low key I also think I have my first sunburn of the season. I knew I should of used SPF 75 earlier. I’m thinking I’ll probably be back out next Tuesday morning..at work now, I returned two voicemails and now gonna count money JADIP8 points

Today was one of the better days this season, side is fantastic with all the rollers, you can stich together like 7 airs in one rip. My favorite though is straight thugging switch and it was 90% excellent today. Coming Soon was surprisingly good as was main. While I can't lie the skiing is superior DV ain't got shit on shooting the shit in the lot.6 points

Clear sky, stars and a giant moon shining bright in the Pocono sky this evening and quite pleasant out here temp wise. It's fairly quiet too. Solo lift rides and all that. I don't think I've been it in a Sunday night in a while and it's way nicer than a weeknight. The downside to sleeping in however... It's slick. Another side of the trails kinda night to adequately edge. Overall nice evening and the smell of the waffle Haus is always quite special in the evening4 points

Lazy was so bad. I thought every thing else was pretty good. Better than yesterday.4 points

Yup. I’ll do weekends late season. Take some runs until the snow turns to mush, then it’s out to the lot2 points

Side note .. The dark Forest section of switchback at night is back once again for the 23-24 season. Always a hoot skiing through that2 points

Out with the grandkids today. Got there at noon, it was starting to clear out. Parked slope side close to lodge. Lodge not at all crowded. Half dozen runs on the beginner chair. Ready to ski with leashes next time. French fries and hot chocolate afterwards. Good time had by all. Watched the kids in the lodge while mom and dad did adult ski.2 points

I was. There was a documentary on about an excavation in England...on the battle field where the Romans invaded the British back in ancient times. They found a Chariot and a sword. How cool1 point

Elk would be way more attractive if my first thought wasn't sitting on a slow fixed grip for twenty minutes a run.1 point

Same talk at Camelback today. Everyone was saying how much better Round Top must be since the perder was too hard and lifts too fast. I bet the perd was nice and soft at Round Top and the slow lifts make it age like fine wine1 point

I thought today was pretty good all things considered though it may just be because I finally got to run switch. It was pretty firm first run down Challenge and I was sooo far in the backseat with the change over from UT. It took my brain 3/4 of the run to be like yeah bud you gotta get way forward. It got kinda full around 930 and it was alot more threading the needle but the snow was a touch softer. Mad good to be back and chill with everyone and super good to get switch and side.1 point

A lift ride rumor is where I first heard about the Super Safari Summit Six Pack Supreme. So never say never.1 point

The largest parcel, and the area with the slopes on the right middle is "Elk Mountain Ski Center" There are 3 other large parcels bordering that belonging to "moores motor inc", from gladwyne, and if im not mistaken, thats the family that owns it? or am i dreaming that one up? Also another parcel owned by Elk Herrick Properties from Gladwyne as well. So, if all of that property is "Elk", then yes. lots of land. GIS is fun. Still all 100% lift ride rumors.1 point

@PSUFrankenstein offers car wash services in the free lot. Just tires and maybe a little splash on the doors though.1 point

i feel like Ski resorts being sold is like the worst kept secret ever, so if it was true, we would know more. Personally i think its just a rumor. Did you guys hear that Blue Mt was going to expand the paid parking to include a free car wash?1 point

Blue used to give a free Stowe card which was their 50% off weekday 24% off frequent skier card to season passholders..also a free subscription to one of the ski rags. I still have never been to a season pass holder party…0 points
