I rode with a long time ridin partner who I had not seen in quite a few years....Had to park at the top lot to redeem my buddy pass...I pulled in to park at the usual when I was met with a road block..That area is paid parking...The gravel lot sucks...Lower is soooo much better....Today was good...Lots of sun/no wind....Coming Soon was extra spicy....About 11:30 it softened up to a pretty sweet ride...Lots of crumbs here and there early....Super fun spring skiing...Rode from 9-1....Long session..Saw GSS,TP4and JLaw...and I think I saw ZZSlope....Had lunch and a beer Slope Side....Always good catching up with a friend you haven't seen in a long time...10 points

Today was pretty awesome, coming soon was extra special but everything else was boost city. I love spring skiing but this year it's too early and it's sad to listen to it all melt.9 points

Hey All, I’m back from a fun morning session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower low at 830am and it was 36 degrees in the valley and in the low 40s up high with some lingering low fog. In the house were Johnny Law, Harold, C1er, Airhead, Mixilplix and many others. Fourth civilian quad and there was quite the line up at the opening Bell, probably 75-100 people already. First run in Paradise because it’s nice having that empty and it was pretty smooth with some large bare spots. Next run Coming soon which was super rough ungroomed solid and I skid into a bare area but didn’t fall. My favorite run today was lower Widowmaker which was half width to chute to lower Main Street. Chute was nice corn and lower main was choppy but soft. Challenge was alright pretty thick but it will be a mogul field soon. I didn’t ski razors, it looked fisrmish and not super smooth. Upper Main Street, switchback and Razorback are closed along with Sidewinder. I skied lazy mike once and it was smooth enough..With only the quad running, there was 1-3 minute liftline after a few runs and when I left at 1030 there was almost a full corral. Let’s hope they have more than one lift open tomorrow. All in all Blue lost a lot of snow but the conditions were better than expected, not as nice as sundays spring snow but pretty good.7 points

Lol … @GrilledSteezeSandwich did a good job of staying upright. That first run down was no fall zone. In the afternoon it was a 1000% better. Before I ran into the bumpers I hiked up Barneys and ran the tail end of the line. The Bumpers built a line on chute and we hit that a bunch. Razors softened up nicely, last run down challenge was heavy but fun. The line was better after lunch even before the six opening. Stayed till 2 , glad I played hooky today Pretty sweet but the weather is not looking good.5 points

Someone on the lift said an employee told them blue is trying to stay open til the 24th which is why pond skimming hasn’t been announced yet. A story like that has to be true.5 points

This doesn't seem different to me than any other year since I started skiing at Blue. They've always seemed to shut down midweek skiing right around when there was barely enough snow to make two more weekends. And that's where they're at right now. It doesn't seem like a different strategy, it's just happening earlier. Of course, Side and Switch would have still been open if they didn't waste days of single digits and teens not blowing any snow on them earlier.4 points

Just booked the Dom pass again for the 24-25 season. Gets me unlimited days wherever I want to go for however much I want to spend. Pretty awesome deal4 points

Man…you really went from blue the true this and that to blue hater. Looks like you….. turned on a Dime? (Ba dumm tiss).4 points

It's a gorgeous night out here. Crowds are minimal. Skiing right onto the lifts. Snow is excellent, spring mashed potatoes. Some places still have base. Others are grass. 24th may be wishful thinking at this point. Either way hella fun spring night... Even if it is a little too early. Some closings.. Other trails are cut in half. Coming soon is going fast. Enjoy it while you can3 points

Limes are kind of stumpy. I left before the 6 opened and the quad was maybe 2-3min.3 points

Lazy is ROTN. can get some speed without breaking for thin spots. Razors is good too. Big bumps2 points

I really want skiing to go on forever, but im a realist. NMDW has tons of snow. But paradise will be a problem. Razors has tons of snow until you get to the runout before homie stretch. I guess they can start pushing from the sides. Next weekend it will certainly be “experts only”. Lol.2 points

I wanted to take the spicer line on the far right and ran out of snow and was already committed. By the time I was back on the snow you and JLAW were already merging into lower Paradise which was wall to wall Chris Christie’s..rest of my runs were pretty empty…I give Airhead props…he motors through the chop..and I saw him bunny hop a bare spot like nothing..2 points

Real nice surface early, getting softer by 1130. Same stuff was open reported for yesterday. See what survives the 1.5" of rain they are supposed to get tomorrow through open on Sun. Love the slopeside parking - effectively makes time from home to JFBB slopes only an extra 5 min longer than getting to Blue or CBk.2 points

My heel is going to be so snug in the pocket that you I'm going to need a crowbar to get it out. @AtomicSkier is going to be super jealous of my heel security on a warm, sunny day.2 points

Another 6-8” overnight. Did a nice little morning ski from my front door. My side of the neighborhood is always last to be plowed. Here is what my street looked like. A little less work on the return as I used my own tracks My dog loves to just chill in the snow I think Aspen recorded 24”. We got a solid 16-18” in 36 hours Double post of this pic I can’t seem to delete2 points

Hey All, It’s almost another weekend..is anybody planning on skiing or riding this weekend at Blue mountain the true mountain? I’ll be up tomorrow for opening..maybe a short session maybe a longer one..I’ll see. Saturday and Sunday AM also..unless there’s a monsoon. Shit should be spicy, as JLaw calls it,”Brown Town”…should get cold enough by tomorrow AM for them to do some patch jobs using their sonar technology. I know a lot of us have been a little somber about the weather but at least there’s still some skiing.1 point

Challenge was bad this afternoon. Weirdly bad. Razors was super fun. Raceway to midway is spicy. They cut midway in half farming snow on it. groomers will need to really put that oscilloscope or whatever to good use to keep some trails open. 24th? LOL. yeah, i’ll be the first to say it.1 point

I did! He has photo proof. He was nice enough to ski slow with me for an hour. It was good to see him1 point

When I go on a ski trip, first of all I’m happy to be away from work, I’m happy to be skiing many days in a row and conveniently staying pretty close to the slopes…I’m happy to eat at all kinds of different restaurants..I’m happy to be skiing big mountain terrain……if there’s powder great…but it’s never really expected…the weather changes..last year in Jh, atomic Jeff didn’t even bring his fattest skis cause it wasn’t supposed to snow much and it snowed three and a half feet in like 36 hours. Also try to get a day in at powder mountain..1 point

This is grate. Time to bring out your tropical plants and animals. I blame the groundhog, Al Gore, and Chy-na.1 point

sounds like they're gonna strike upper main and razorback from that projection. new six is also broken, maybe they'll get a part installed this morning.1 point
-
the projected conditions report for tomorrow is actually pretty surprising. no sidewinder (but that's been gone), switchback gone and glades gone. everything else is open. oh and x-ing is closed. granted it's projected but i thought things would have been a lot worse.1 point

I dunno man, have you ever been to New England resorts in mid to late April? Isnt that what ski patrol and lolipop signs are for. Honestly I dont think the web cam looks that bad at all this morning except upper main. If its super sketchy on a single trail close it, theres chute and or midway and lower with plenty coverage still.1 point

Correct except Grilled Steeze doesn't bike with us so I'll see him in November or maybe December due to global warming.1 point

Shawnee 3/1/24. Empty. Full sun made it hot and sweaty with a side of ski tan. Great snow. Thankful that they allow uphill travel here M-F. Skinning to the top of F lift is always my favorite way to finish the day. It is almost never open but there is always snow up to it from the side. IMG_6334.MOV1 point
