Fake news. The fire is going to dessimate miles of beautiful land in its path, and the democrats have given all of the water to Canada. All of the beautiful real estate around the area will be worthless. The fire was started near a polling location to distract the people of Palmerton, in hopes they would all stay inside and not go out to vote.

I’m old and remember a brush fire that started near Parryville along 248 and traveled 5 miles East and in a day . It skipped roads pretty quickly. There was a 20 mph wind. I didn’t know it was going and drove through Palmerton to Beltzville and ended up driving through it . I remember a dude who was fighting it with a hose. His grass was burning and it traveled around the house. I passed an acre of pine trees that were fully engulfed. We lucked out so far.

Here is the current perimeter of the burned area. Fire is most active on the southern and eastern edges. Not sure how much, if at all it is still expanding.

Woke up this morning to a nice crispness in the air here in Kunkletown and that means that the season is just around the corner, and it's time to get the stoke levels up! I think that a Pre-Season Kickoff Party to get ready for opening day the following weekend is in order! I’ll have a keg ready to go. I'll also have some finger food and that chili that never made it out at closing day last year, but if you could bring something to share, that would be awesome! Feel free to bring your favorite dish, snack, or app. Probably bring some chairs as well. 577 acres burned now. Was 220 yesterday. Fire remains 25% contained. Looks like the smaller Mosier's Knob fire by Shawnee has stopped updating. Maybe that one is fully contained/out.

I was thinking along the terms of the flames touching the haul rope and changing the temper. I think an insurance company might condemn it for safety reasons, even though there might be very little visual damage. Good news to hear that the fire won’t make it there.
