Jf is three turns at medium speed and back on the lift for 2332 minutes. Lift speed to vert rise should be a stat................ Blow the ever loving fuck out of blue, the cold is around but less favorable next week and last year they had like 10 days. I haven't had my fix yet so maximize blowing this week and get shit open and deep. I'm still working on believing what I'm seeing, Blue opening with more than Vista and lower main is le tits7 points

In true blue mountain style, i think its only fair to pay ohmage to i think Okemo, which has so many intersecting trails, this would just add the same amount of thrill to that side as what is existing. Need to make sure people can get from all the way left, to the lodge in the valley without getting on a lift. That would be about 9 trails crossed. Epic. I think this makes way more sense. i will give skiitoolives all of my buddy passes the year we get to ski over there.6 points

Got my first day in on Snowmass today. Good base compared to this time last year. I took lift alone but for the first one out of the base. Very quiet. Having some knee issues so I was taking it pretty easy. Overall great first day, blue skies, relatively warm and got a baby bump run in too, my favorite.5 points

I’m guessing 17+ trails 4-6 routes. Gonna be a real nice one. The new Blue is spoiling us early season. No upper lot Main Street chair mumbo jumbo. The Chinese downhill is fun but love the cruising options for opening day and people spread out more.4 points

They could easily open tomorrow or Wednesday but the juice isn’t worth the squeeze..build up that base expand the terrain. The guy who runs snowmaking and mountain operations doesn’t mess around…high five to the snowmakers out in the cold3 points

She’s literally forgotten about PA for pretty much everything outdoors. I don’t blame her either. I was telling Barb recently she’s obsessed with rock climbing now.2 points

They definitely should sell beginner lift tickets. I think people might stick with skiing, if the first couple of times aren’t completely intimidating. I also don’t want to get hit by an out of control skier/ rider.2 points

We’ll see. The cookies usually come out when they groom the night before. But fingers crossed. There were a few epic rock surfing days on lazy especially last year.2 points

I think it'll be pretty good tbh. What i keep forgetting about is the new guns/heads. I'm hoping it makes a noticeable difference in the snow quality.2 points

Im good with a trade of Midway/lower main for lazy tbh. Midway to lower is a fav run, but early season not as much.2 points

Hey All, It’s almost opening day and opening weekend. In two and a half short days, Blue mountain the true mountain opens for their 48th season. They snowmaking cannons have been going balls to the walls for several days and continued seasonably cold weather with periods of sun and clouds will persist throughout the weekend. Anybody planning on skiing this weekend or are yall waiting until more terrain opens? I’m planning on being there…and I think it’s gonna be a nice opening weekend. I usually don’t start these threads until Wednesday but I’m so Excited….1 point

What was funny is Johnny style who’d been skiing there since the 80s never even skied it when I visited. I want to go back though. Not a lot of powder hounds like most places.1 point

I have no motivation to wax my board but regardless I’ll be there1 point

I agree with Doug, i don't think there's a restriction -- but you have to order the pass online. If they're sold out for the day, i think you're out of luck.1 point

I agree and mentioned it. When I was in middle school the beginner package with the school with first time lesson vista and school hill ticket and rental was like $20 and lift and rental was $19 for all area ticket and just lift ticket was $14. There were also coupons galore for like $25/35 first time in skis packages. The barrier to entry to ski a lot is high but to just learn at a local spot maybe should be a little less cause you hook them and then they buy a bunch of stuff1 point

My sneaking suspicion is that they don't want to field a bunch of questions about why they aren't opening this weekend from everyone seeing how much snow they have down. But at any rate: Base: https://api.wetmet.net/widgets/stream/frame.php?ruc=231-03-01&width=702&height=527 Sunbowl: https://api.wetmet.net/widgets/stream/frame.php?ruc=231-01-01&width=702&height=527 Tubing: https://api.wetmet.net/widgets/stream/frame.php?ruc=231-04-01&width=702&height=5271 point

Guess I’m not the only one checking out the webcams. This is just incredible stuff to see. This morning it was below 20 in the A…upper 30s in the afternoon felt pretty nice.1 point

I was trying to figure out if that was Paradise or nm/dw. It's close. Google satellite wasnt clear enough with where the shack was but i didn't look at past snaps to see. Maybe tomorrow. I'm guessing they'd be making snow on Paradise. They need more than one green.1 point

This is grate!! I wonder if @AtomicSkier will be there or if he'll be too busy flying private jets to Antarctica and hanging out with billionaire space explorers.1 point

I miss when 500 feet of switchback was pitch black and way back in the day me and atomic Jeff even closed switchback and had our own run1 point

Hi my name is Barb and I am a ski town all star hat addict. I believe this one makes 6. I wanted to break in my new hat and grr we some cardio so I went to Buttermilk to uphill. It is not yet opened. There was what looked like a groomed section (as wide as a groomer truck) in the center. But since it snowed last night about 5”, I decided to follow the path of the “main” uphill route that is signed. I didn’t go too far, maybe 2 steep head walls? Broke trail the way up and down, which was fun. I have a nagging injury from my dog pulling me down on the ice. But it was a sunny day, about 25 degrees and I saw one human when I was coming down. Still gonna log it, i was on snow for over a mile so it counts.1 point

This guy has some pretty good POV videos from all the Aspen mountains. He just posted this one of Sheer Bliss today.1 point

What a beautiful day! Sunshine and temps in the high 30’s on the mountain. Got to Snowmass about 9:15 and parking was a breeze. My neighbor is talking me into splitting the cost of a parking pass w him next season. Gets you free parking at Highlands and a lot at Snowmass with no shuttle required that I have never been to. With no pass it’s $25. Went over to Big Burn and took a warm up run on Sneaky’s snow was crunchy. Then hit the little bumps towards the bottom Then on Jeff’s advice went over to Sheer Bliss lift. And just as he said, I skied right into it and shared a chair with no one. I think I started on the Sheer Bliss trail but then merged onto a bump trail. That was a long, lot of bumps. No picture of it. But here is a pic of people waiting for the cirque lift poma The snow off Sheer Bliss was less crunchy. But toward the last 1/3 of the bump run the troughs were pretty scraped off and icy. Went to the bottom and took the Elk Camp Gondola to the top and skied one run down to the base. One thing about Snowmass is the runs are super long. I’m must have banged my watch and shut off the tracking but before I went to elk camp it was over 6000’. Top to bottom of elk is probably another 3000’ + one of these “runs” is from Snowmass mall to the lift which is about 100’. Love my commute, never any traffic heading home. Blaring the 80’a tunes This view right before the Marble turn off is really beautiful but a picture doesn’t really do it justice. My plan is to suffer a bit and uphill Tiehack tomorrow. My cardio game is sorely lacking.1 point
