Hey All, I’m back from another short morning session at Blue mountain the true mountain. There was a solid inch of new snow on the west side of Allentown and about a dusting new at Blue. It was overcast and in the upper 20s with light winds. In the house were Atomic Jeff, Johnny Law, Laws brother, C1er, Bethlehem ford crew and Jeff’s friend Nick. Second civilian super summit safari six pack, atomic Jeff managed first chair…Main street was a nice carpet of machine groomed packed sugar…lipstick on a pig but great initially. Up the quad and challenge was very nice a little firmer. I skied the three times in a row then back to Main Street which was mad sweet and low. Coming soon was not that good, cookies and crunchy… I went back to Challenge and a lot of the cookies below had emerged, amazing how much conditions change in an hour. I ended my session on razors which was pretty nice and scored some fresh cord on Razerback. All in all a nice session but I wish they ran the OG six pack during the week. JADIP5 points

Visited Prospect Mountain today. Opened in 1938 and operated on and off until 1991. About ten years ago it was reopened as a backcountry and nordic ski area. This place is a blast. Lodge straight from the 1960s. Wood paneled everything. Metal wickets for your ticket. Wood fired stove with bricks on top to stick in your stinky wet boots. Homemade cookies at the counter. I got a bowl of chili. There's a designated uphill track straight up the old T-bar lift line. The split board did its job. First time using one. I think I got the hang of it by the end of the day. The mountain tops out at 2770 feet and you get around 600 feet of vertical. A good first test for uphilling since I've never done it before. The trails are still cleared so there's lots of options down from the top, plus a few places where they've thinned out the trees. They're sitting on around 24-36 inches of snowpack right now in the southern Greens. About 8-10 inches fell on Sunday and a couple more last night. Fresh tracks could be had on a lot of the trails. The lift line and two of the wider ways down the mountain seem to get the most traffic. Those were choppy pow but still pretty fun. No real steep sections except for maybe the top of the T-bar tow line. Big old cross country championship thing going on today. Lots of buses in the lot. Place was packed with high schoolers. Girls race was on during my second run. Accidentally came out of a trail onto the race track. I think they rang the cowbell for me. It was all good. Love the split board. Today was tons of fun.3 points

i just cant believe with internet sleuths like @Benm that there isnt record of a property transfer, however, i did a little work and couldnt find anything. Keeping the buyers a secret i feel is a major undertaking. You know enough of the right people know, and all it takes is one little slip. Maybe KSL should get with the buyers since they are trying to unload Blue.3 points

Streaming on Spotify would be awesome and appreciated if folks would like the track, stream it, add it to playlists and follow The Beagles with Joy2 points

Razors was pretty clean first thing. Then the softer snow on it got a little trenched up. Demo day was for the ski industry only.2 points

The first few I thought were super dope soft and effortless. It all came apart fast but for the most part it was still pretty good once it got all scrambly. It does suck most of the snow was south of blue but compared to previous seasons just the idea of plausible snow get my motor going and it does improve general vibe.2 points

Those long time season passholders are always in the know. if any of this is true, it is absolutely the best kept secret in the history of ski joints.2 points

sounds like fun. They should move that patrol building and the beginner area and let main street and burma flow to the valley.2 points

https://www.tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php/179267-Mid-Atlantic-Rollcall/page37 According to this thread the sale went through and it was an out of state group from DC (possibly the BC owners?)2 points

They keep putting the slow signs closer and closer to each other on lower main. And half the people actually slow up there which makes it more of a clusterfuck2 points

I was out out at 7 and cleared my wife’s car off with the leaf blower got a decent 2 inches as soon as I shut the leaf blower off, I lost footing and went down on my chest. After plowing, I threw the chains in my van and walking through my backyard my feet went out then I went down on my back, lots of ice lurking beneath . I managed to get out on the first try and was debating about going skiing or going to work, but the steering wheel wouldn’t turn in the direction of work so I ended up at blue a little bit disappointed at the little snow that had fallen. Got there late 10 AM And skied to 11 things were much better than I expected , fast cream cheese , Main Street was still in good shape so I hung there and skied sleepy Hollow Glade, a few times even though it was a bit scratchy.2 points

Yep, i remember that talk as well. And putting tubing over there is a great idea in my opinion. But think of the massive undertaking that would be. Permits, Grading, electric, pipe, water, buildings, etc. huge.2 points

i don't think updating that stuff is high priority for a place like susquehanna county.1 point

I think it's fair to conclude that it has at least sold, the chatter has been consistent and now reputable persons are saying so. Blue patrolers said weeks ago that elk patrolers had a new boss and you can see the appeal. When BC was made BC it was years before people really had any idea who bought it other than southern investors from the hotel industry. Elk makes sense because it's prime for a hotel with like 90% capture. There isn't really dick around there and you could do numbers. The real question is do they go high speed ? It's logical obviously but it also could really change what makes elk elk.1 point

Let’s hope Blue blows snow next week. It’s supposed to be 50 degrees and rain Sunday and then cold all next week. It seems like they haven’t been blowing much the last few weeks.1 point

IIRC, last year early bird was $699, so I would go with $749 but since that's already taken, I'll go with $729. Can't see them going down in price after delivering a pretty great season, and inflation and all.1 point

Rumors/lift talk has been that since they acquired the plot of land across the street, they were going to move tubing over there and then make the entire lower area a town complex, complete with all the resort amenities. But then again, it'll probably be sold by then...1 point

I didn't mind the conditions for the 8-9 runs we made, though they were definitely getting worse at the end. The slopes felt more crowded than the lines by quitting time strangely. Food was good, even given the cheap frozen steak used for the cheesesteaks and the slow wing production. Next time wings are on the menu it'll be with a bigger pot, either on the Coleman still or bring the big burner. Something to cook more than 6 at once. We didn't even get into the burgers or bottom round steak.1 point

I heard like a 45 second long cowbell by the west Chester guys. One of them was complimenting my skis which somehow are sticky and top sheet been feeling since last season. So I guess only shop employees demo the skis to see what they wanna buy for next season. Mark the one guy who’s skied with us lately was at the Armada tent and he’s been all over the northeast…0 points
