  1. There are like 5 people here, untouched soft corduroy everywhere. Parked in the upper lot. Chill foggy rainy vibes on the tele skis. Kind of digging it though I was questioning my sanity the first ride up.

  2. Conditions are great. Like 2-3 feet of snow on the ground here in southern VT. But where to go? All this snow but if I go to Mr Snow I can either rid icy moguls, fast groomer boomers, or go into the woods and try to make jump turns between down rutted out tree runs. You know. Where are the goods? Right? So forget Mr Snow and PBRomley (Magic don't open till tomorrow but it's gonna rain RIP). Gotta go find those fresh lines. Yesterday I checked out Prospect and was very happy. Today I headed further down VT Route 9 (that's the Molly Stark highway if you didn't know, see Jon Stark said he didn't mind getting shot by the British to get away from his wife so they named a highway after her in the 60s or something). Before you start winding down towards peanut Brittleboro you'll come around a wide bend in the road with a pullout and a scenic view towards New Hampshire and Grand Monadnock Mountain. This is Hogback Mountain. The actual mountain is called Olga. The ski area is Hogback. Closed in the 1980s. They had like seventeen different T-bars. No chairlifts. The lodge is now a distillery. There's a gift shop. And the trails are open to hiking and skiing. Boy what I day. Spent a solid couple hours on the skins looking at the old T-bars. They still maintain a little shelter hut thing at the top to smoke the Mary Janes in or whatever. Seems like a chill spot. Lots of skin tracks all over. And lots and lots of powder. Real powder. Sink down to your thigh powder. What a day. Wish this place was steeper though. Very easy, mellow mountain. About 500 vertical feet from top to bottom. Made some nice floaty turns. What a feeling. The bottom of the trails is below the highway and the parking lot, so you have to hike back out to get back to the car. Ate a turkey sandwich and headed out as the sun started to come down with storm clouds building behind. It's been a great few days. You can find some good stuff out there if you work at it.

  3. As always with blue every forecast and radar showed the rain should end at 9 but it was still coming down pretty good when the lifts started. Absolutely no one home, the only other non employee in the lower lot was one of the BFG crew. I counted 8 people in total though I'm sure I missed a couple. The snow was perfect hero snow on the main st side. The trails were absolutely empty and grip was infinite. Put the hammer all the way down and let the dogs run, there wasn't even anyone to look out for. This was imperative as you couldn't see dick, between the rain and fog it was double swipe conditions down the hill and you still couldn't see anything expect white and non-white. The razors side was nearly as good but with some harder snow up top and spots around. Coming Soon still sucks and the challenge booter is deadly in poor vis but it mattered not. Hammer down and let them go. The rain slowed down around 1030 but I was wet and called it. Would have been hyper nice if I got the timing right but the rain just holds at blue forever.

  5. Sad to miss this, but I'll console myself with our first ski day in Steamboat, first ever for my kids anywhere but Blue, lol

  6. Hey All, It’s almost another weekend and a long weekend for some folks, is anybody planning on skiing or riding Blue mountain the true mountain. I’m planning on Friday and Saturday for opening. Sunday looks like a washout and 8am opening Monday I might hit. JADIP

  7. Good report of conditions. Just one other person at the quad with me at rope drop. Started with Paradise as usual to be sure my knees were still working. The approach to Razors was a little hard, but once on the slope it was grippy except for some groomer cookies at the bottom of the head wall which were completely invisible. Top of TCS was pretty frozen, but the slope wasn’t too bad. After a couple of runs on razors, headed over to the main street lift and saw J Law cruising down lower Main. Main Street was pretty nice, but Switch was superb. After a few runs went back to Razors. Switched over to my Head Kores today, which was a good call. I must have looked like a drowned rat changing out of my boots in the lodge. People were starting to arrive and there was even a bus in the lot. After the first ride up I didn’t have to share a chair or even share a slope.

  9. I do like Roundtop a lot for how close it is, much better terrain than BC - the both of them as well as Spring Mountain are about equidistant. I don't like that the evil empire now owns Roundtop instead of sno time. Used to have an advantage card there. I was there one evening this season with my cousin dad and sister. Already did a day a Blue Mountain though pretty easy to get there too. Probably go to Blue still more than anywhere else. Need to go to Whitetail sometime. Liberty is kind of small. I would be at Blue Knob every time if they would ever get their lower mountain snowmaking in action again

  13. In my passholder survey I railed against that intersection a bit. I suggested that in the short term they should pull down the building and terrace Burma into the hillside above the learning area, pull out a small amount of trees and carry it over to Barb's Way. Not real great though, because even if they put up the large amount of fencing needed between shuttle and the new terraced area, the chucklheads that ski Blue will still crash the netting and fall down it. On busy weekend days where it's crazy crowded (and lower Sidewinder isn't closed) they could close down the last bit of Lazy Mile and force Lazy skiers to Lower SW or Falls to help ease the three way intersection. But that probably just shifts the issue to the bit at the bottom of Sidewinder. The rumored move of tubing leading to the move of learning area leading to the continuation of trails down that way really is the answer, but it's certainly not short term.

  14. Bear Creek is already on Indy Pass so it would make sense for Elk to be added to the Indy Pass list. That would be nice. As for a hotel/high speed development... I've mixed feelings. I don't want them to change the character of the place.

  15. If they did a combined Bear Creek/Elk season pass that would be a no brainer for me down in Lancaster. Especially with Indy Pass add-on since BC is now Indy. A good local place and one of the best ski areas in the mid Atlantic both under the same owners. I dont mind the lifts at Elk, they keep the snow nice and vibes classic. A detach would in my mind overwhelm Elk in skier volume as well as aesthetically, not to mention increased maintenance and as a result ticket prices. Although I will caveat that Shawnee puts out a very competitive quality snow surface as well and they have a high speed quad (one that actually runs design speed even) plus another quad and two doubles all going up the same face and still somehow make the grooming consistently nice. Have a comp day from work tomorrow due to an upcoming trip and planning on Elking it up.

  16. Montage… Home of the steepest trail in PA, a retired moose and old forge pizza. Let’s use this thread to find a date in feb that works for the PASRs to visit. For those without an Indy pass there’s a $40 midweek deal. If mid week doesn’t work than a weekend it is. Either way let’s use this thread to make it happen!

  18. It was good but we had no fresh snow at all. Im at Killington today and we got a solid 6” of wet snow but zero lines ride onto any lift and fresh tracks all day in the woods. Copper Killy today

  22. wow @saltyant so many questions and gosh I have a lot of answers. First of all Yoccos was founded by relatives of Bethlehem Ford guy, ask him about Yoccos or Chrysler motors sometime. I like my Yoccos hot dogs everything with extra sauce. I’m glad you mentioned their hamburger sandwich. It’s a nice juicy burger and extra juicy with some Yoccos sauce..I like mustard on hamburger sandwiches..ketchup kind of played out..a lot better sauces out there…their steak sandwiches also good with extra sauce and I don’t do onions on the steak sando cause when I say extra sauce sometimes they think I mean extra onions as well so I just go extra sauce only and steak not a cheesesteak…American cheese gets in the way of the savory beefy Yoccos goodness. Let’s go get Yoccos their secret sauce is one of a kind. They’ve got cheesesteaks French fries their famous hot dogs are known worldwide. As for locations the Cedar Beach location is the one I’ve visited the most and it has a nice dining room, ample parking, guest restrooms, gumball machines and they even sell tastycakes. They were cash only until a few years ago. The Fogelsville location is closest to the hotel house and I’ve been visiting that location since I had temp warehouse jobs out that way in the early 2000s. I’d drive from the next exit on 78 new smithville to the route 100 yoccos or Taco Bell and back on my lunch break. Gosh now I need 40 minutes just to get ready for skiing lol. Fogelsville location similar inside to cedar beach location. Gary Daniels the current owner runs a tight ship so everything is clean and orderly. The route 100 location is cash only and they have a drive thru and ATM. Then you have the airport road location..that’s probably the nicest dining room as it’s a strip mall so good square footage…which is needed as that’s a busy area…check out Ichiban for Hibachi if over there..you’ll spend a little more dough but you’ll get a show.. Emmaus location I’ve been to don’t know much about and the south mall location is gonna cater my future wedding.. They closed down center city Allentown location the original location l which sold beer as well in the early 2000s and I’ve never been there cause in the ghetto. There also was a yoccos location across the street from the former air products headquarters but that closed due to a landlord disagreement. You know how that goes, landlord says your rent is late he may have to litigate don’t worry be happy. Yoccos is way too pricey for Ski2Live..he can buy a whole package of frankfurters on special at discount warehouse for like $2 the off brand Dirks and Walrus..a little slimy but so are the quality franks if stored at varying temperatures for years. Also there’s a place on Lehigh street Ski2Live can get hot dog rolls for only $1 but you only get 5 rolls so he’ll need two packages. We are at $4 here condiments free at any Wawa or Sheetz I think 8 cum in a pack so that’s your 50 cent glizzy. Yoccos is like $2.19 plus tax… Pierogies are Mrs T’s Ben M doesn’t like that kind he likes church lady pierogies where you see fingerprints and sometimes a couple short gray hairs in your dish. All good it’s fiber

  23. This is grate. Have you had a Yocco's hot dog lately? What do you like on your Yocco dogs? I like chili, extra mustard and onions. I also lust at the ever so delicious Yocco hamburger. It is one of the most scrumptious foods in the entire Lehigh Valley. Also the Yocco French fries are grate, especially with extra Salt and pepper. Have you visited all 6 Yocco's locations at least three times each? Which is your fourth favorite? My ultimate dream is one day they open a Yocco's in Malvern so I can meet JFDan there for supper. That would be so rad. One day after skiing on a Saturday morning from 8 to 9:25 we should rent a bus for all PASRs to ride around and we can tour all the Yocco's and we can all compare our detailed notes on our respective experiences at each eating establishment. Their world famous motto is you are never too far from a grate dog. Maybe Ski2Live's band The Beagles and Joy can tour on the bus and play the Christmas song on repeat as we tour all the Yocco's, but it will be a budget tour bus to save tree fitty.

  26. So, i could see Mr. Moore keeping things status quo, but i would think any new owner buying a run down ski joint (and yes, i'm gonna say it, but there is nothing new about Elk, and anyone purchasing it should see it needs many lift upgrades) would welcome any type of additional skier visits. I would bet that Indy has really helped out Magic, which i mean, look at that place. Wanna talk about a shoe string budget? But they totally embrace the Indy pass. Buying a pre existing ski joint these days seems to me like a huge gamble, unless you have some type of huge corporation behind you with deep pockets. If i was buying Elk i would do what i could to get Blue Mountain crowds there every day.

  37. I heard like a 45 second long cowbell by the west Chester guys. One of them was complimenting my skis which somehow are sticky and top sheet been feeling since last season. So I guess only shop employees demo the skis to see what they wanna buy for next season. Mark the one guy who’s skied with us lately was at the Armada tent and he’s been all over the northeast…

  43. That one I'm not sure about. Under the Buddy vouchers in my account there's two buttons, Transfer and Redeem. Redeem still sends me to the page with @saltyant face down in the snow with his feet in the air, and Transfer looks like you can only transfer it to people who are associated on your account: When you click on the drop down for Associate there is an "Add a new party member" option that lets you put in name and email and all, so I imagine you could add them, then transfer to them, and they would get an email telling them they had the voucher and could then redeem it. Probably have to do it in person tho (the redeem) since that button is broken. But at that point, you wouldn't need to be with them.
