Woke up this morning with a need for speed and found it in spades at True Blue. First civialin chair with @AtomicSkier Started with Paridise to ascertain snow conditions following wild weather swing - Nice crispy cord, very edgable - Blustery wind took at least 10-15mph off downhilll speeds. Challenge next, decent, a llitle dark for full send, wind tunnel in full effect. Lazy next - Same conditions as Para, a little less wind, full GS send into the sweeping right, a good grin run. On to Main 6r - Then the scheiße got real - Main and Switch were excellent, ROTD was Raceway to Midway - Full send all trails. Wind tunnel on lower main was enough to push your body sideways away from your skiis like tacking a sailboat. Went over to OG six for a Razor run and....meh, wind tunnel, pee infused variable crunchy snow. Crowds were non-existant. Had few runs with a very helpful ski patroler advising us on the merits of enjoying controled speed .6 points

I apologize for a word block but the weather sucked for pictures so I didn't take any. Killington 2/16 -------------------------------------------- The weather got gnarly Sunday so I went to Killy to ski good Devils Fiddle, which is a Centralia kinda trail. 4 or 5 inches on the hill and with two town busses crashed and shitty roads the lineup was thin. Growler, Devils Den, Nowhere all the pointy tree stuff are as deep as I ever seen and with a few inches where absolute bliss, I only hit two braches and a rock which for vt is all time. Pellets came in hard around 11 and while still very very good it sort of threw a spanner in the works. For large portions of the rest of the day it hurt my face to go downhill......it did however change over back to snow around 4. Killington 2/17 -------------------------------- Around 11pm while still snowing pretty hard the winds went absolutely super sonic so I went Killy again as there is just no way most of anywhere could run lifts and they were claiming skye 2 would run. I'd say about 3 to 6 inches fell but only Hurricane Swartz knows as it was blown all over the place in sometimes hilarious drifts. It was like biblically windy, if you have skied there the dumbest, stupidest chair that serves the dumbest terrain, Snowshed double, was shut down around 1 as it was blowing so hard they could no longer pulse it up the hill. Also me and everyone else in the line for the gondy fell over like dominoes on a hyper blast that had to be stupid funny from the lifty box. This was actually awesome as it marooned almost everyone at ramshead while I was at skye peak. While the terrain was super limited for Killy there was fluff all over late into the day. Outside of the trees or protected areas it was blown to mix of super firm and then almost a wave like wind lip of fluff that made for dope hopping. There's limited good trees over there put the pockets continued to be superb. I did almost eat it in a surprise knee high drift and I had to put my face mask under my helmet with two hoods kinda wind but it was tits Mcgee in a strange day kinda way.6 points

Just got back not too long ago. Timing was great as crowds were minimal. The sunset views were also great. Winds dissipated as well. What wasn't great were the snow conditions. Sugar and hard pack with medium grip. Only the quad and the OG 6 were running. Which wasn't the worst thing in the world because that meant empty main Street and switchback runs. Speaking of switch it was easily the run of the day. Followed closely by coming soon. As bad as snow conditions were it was still a fun evening out due to lack of crowds and the world famous Blue mountain sunset. Decent night.5 points

Schweitzer is a pretty cool place. The windy road up there was a bit sketchy covered in snow. Anyway, some fun steeps and small cliffy areas to mess around in. The trees are top notch here and the groomers were great to rip with some fresh snow on them. I really enjoyed it and I had to add it to the stat manager so either it hasn't been skied much, if at all, from people here or I missed it on the list. First time in Idaho and it really seems like a cool place to live if you're into the outdoors. It's been snowing a lot here lately and maybe a bit more to refresh things over the next few days. My hip held up for about 3.5 hours and then I had to take it easy getting back down to the lot. Check it out if you're ever in northern Idaho. Here are some pictures of the place when I remembered to take out my phone, and a food picture on my drive back for Doug.3 points

I’m happy that we get paid and the audience doesn’t have to pay. If you would be happy paying something to atttnd you could slide me a buddy pass3 points

I'm over the winters here. I cannot wait to GTF out of PA. Same crap all the time. Warm, followed by rain / ice, followed by wind, followed by artic blast...rinse / repeat. Shits old.3 points

I did and almost made it a full two hours before soaking through. Snow was grate but had to constantly wipe (my goggles). Lil Boo had camp and they had her out in rain for the entire 3 hours. Needless to say she wasn't happy.3 points

Does anybody really care? Having started snowboarding when no resort would allow you near the lift it was great to see resorts open up to snowboarding(mostly cause I didn't have to walk up the hill anymore). What really got to me was the sense of entitlement that most skiers had and the amount of hate thrown at you.Cause ya know snowboarders scrape all the snow off,yet skiers use a technique called a snow plow.3 points

Report from Gah-skier George said it was pretty good. Good till on the snow and the place is a ghost town. Still have to deal with the wind in same ol spots.2 points

All marketing, they know what their clientele wants. It gets as icy as anywhere for the reasons mixil cited, their people collector trail gets very firm on alot of afternoons at the steep sections like all mtns because most people are skidding, board or skis.1 point

I think GrilledSteeze has 2 buddy passes this year. He's saving one for @Zonked so I think he has a spare one for you1 point

Power is back on, i think it went back on around midnight. so, i figured out why when the wind blew, there was always this weird banging noise, which whenever i heard it, i thought to myself what ever it is, it will self correct. Turns out it was either the window shutter or downspout that got ripped off my house that was loose and making noise with the wind. No more noise, i mean obviously since neither of them are attached to the house anymore. Crazy windy though.1 point

Windy as hell. I’m opting for a late afternoon session after the wind tapers off. I’m hedging my bets on most of the tourists being gone by then coupled with lack of crowds tonight due to schools being closed. We’ll see if it pays off.1 point

Are you in the poconos? If so let me know if you need anything. Or come by if your heat is off. I really wanna ski tomorrow but it’s probably gonna be trash. This weather sucks1 point

Little break in the storms today. 2 more on the way this week! Took my fat XC skis to the air strip near my house. Went down to the river and was able to cross a narrow tributary. Then I got to a wider crossing and decided not to press my luck. Kinda sunny, warm temps. Skis were glopping up and had to add some wax mid way.1 point

Hey All, I’m back from a fun morning at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at about 715 and it was in the mid 20s and cloudy with a chance of meatballs. Second civilian OG six pack to challenge which was nice lipstick on a pig…groomed sugar was pretty nice. Second run on challenge nice and by third run it was pretty trashed slick and cookied up so I’m glad that held up until 820. Main Street was ok initially as was lazy mile. Coming soon had a little fresh manmade on top of the boilerplate…crowds were moderate, it wasn’t the record crowds I expected but prob got alot worse later. Switchback had variable snow and the run I skied it was really busy. I found the best snow late in the session on the left side of nightmare dreamweaver and skied that Twice. Fun parking lot, there had to be about 15 PASRs in the house basically everybody except Zonked, Nancy, Toast and Root and JLaw. Now it’s snowing and on the drive home people were going 10’under the speed limit due to flurries. Now at work like a dork and then gonna get pizza and chillax until I go out in 9’hours. Everybody have fun tomorrow in the rain…1 point

Indeed it was crazy how good it was for the first run on practically all the trails and then just went to shit on the next run down them. Quit the shit-show around 11:30 since everything was down to boiler in the middle and crazy sugar on the edges. Lower Main was just a pile of sugar waiting to envelope those who weren't paying attention. Left around 1:30 or so with lots of people still pouring in and searching for parking spots. Pay lot was down to 15 free. Departure was interrupted by a pretty good 2 car accident on the North side of Mountain Drive. Looked like the lost it on the top turn and T-boned and uphill car and then spun into the ditch. Staties were there limiting traffic to one direction at a time.1 point

Alta doesn't stand for Another Long Traverse Again for nothing... Yeah, it torques the locals when rookie skiers can't even handle the traverses properly let alone the problems boarders would have with them. Deer Valley on the other hand...1 point

By far the highlight of my ski session, maybe even the entire morning, was when Atomic Jeff came out of nowhere at the headwall of Switchback and turned right in front of me, then blasted off at a high rate of speed. That was so rad. I wish I captured that moment on my GoPro. I also got to ride the "cool chair" with some radical PASRs on the Main Street Lift. That was sick. I think one time @NMSKI was even on the lift with me. That maybe happens once, maybe twice in a lifetime to ride with such a celebrity. Overall an outstanding day, ski you guys on March 151 point

This is the worst in 25 years here. The upper section melts and runs onto the the north slope and freezes. I’ve tried screening material ( crushed limestone) but it melts into little holes after an hour in the sun. So far mini marble chips work well for traction . I had an idea for a mobile snow melting contraption. Thinking about an old oil tank sideways with a flue pipe on one end and a door in the other end. I can push it around with my ATV plow . If thing’s don’t improve by next week I might be desperate enough.0 points
