  1. That was exactly what ran through my mind, plus a few extra four-letter words... Forerunning, a brilliant idea. Hmmm...
  2. Hey, thanks, guys. Ha, ha, since I'm posting at 8:30 AM on a perfect ski day I bet you figured out that it's taking me a few extra ice packs to get back on the slopes. The good news is that there is nothing seriously wrong, and I will be skiing again in no time.
  3. When the heel is worn there is less of the boot directly on the binding. It's easy to visualize some instability related to that. We had a used ski sale refuse to sell a pair of our old boots because of this type of wear.
  4. I use formaldehyde all the time at work, and can guarantee that exposure to it leads to nothing pleasurable.
  5. They come in different sizes. They stretch a little, but not too much. You need the right size...
  6. Hey, I never get hugs for lift tickets.
  7. She'll be flying past you before you know it...
  8. Hey, is that a gorilla turn I see?
  9. Johnny's from MC, right?
  10. Wow, if the benevolent dthmtluncrn thinks these guys are jerks, there must be no hope.
  11. I had a blast at Hunter. The snow was awesome, and the lines moved nicely. Hellgate was in great shape and the Racerchicks ex 3V' equipe's were a dream. Plus the 'dude was about 2 minutes ahead of me, so I got to watch his runs down Hellgate's headwall. No DMC, but otherwise, it was my best day there ever.
  12. Maybe Pops got that number from Belleayre. Their lift up takes 6 minutes, to midway, with minimum 7 1/2 minute laps. The Sulli at CB only takes 3 minutes when it's on full speed - but you have to add in the lift lines.
  13. Looks like Thanksgiving homework.
  14. From your avatar it looks like you have some edge angle going.
  15. Ski999 is right. I'd add, it's not easy. When you think your hip is about to scrape the snow, they will congratulate you for being 5% of the way there.
  16. Ahhh, Sibby, when are you going to start that card company?
  17. Here is the link for pics from the Copper Mountain training program, Held the week bridging Oct and Nov. This is a great training program - we had a peak to ourselves - along with a handful of other race groups. No sitting around politely listening to the coach jabber to one racer - it was basically self-paced laps from 8:30 until we downloaded. http://fwbdesign.com/ski/2005coppermt/ Pic: 1. Partners in crime 3. The head coach (in blue) 4. Second headwall. It's hard to appreciate from the photos, but it had a nice pitch. The first headwall was up to the skiers left, around a bend. The run made two to three training courses. 9. Downloading. See, there were other women, afterall (note the ponytail). 13-14. We were videoed 4 times daily. Postmortems were done between 5 and 7 PM, along with race strategy discussions. 16-18. We had one of Bode Millers coaches one morning (in the Gray). 18. His advice to me: get more edge angle, or you will be doing push ups all afternoon. It worked - I peeled 4 seconds off my run during the morning he was there! 19. My roomate (red helmet) 22. Hike up Vail pass one afternoon. Snow limited how far we could go. I'm not exactly dressed for it. 24. Slalom day 25. Racer ready! 26. On the course 27. Franklin (the photographer) 28. Packing to go - last day. 29. -> The base at Copper on opening day (our last day). We had total tranquility until then...

    racing skis

You need really good boots first - a snug fit and some flex. A lot of people like Lange for racing. But, talk to experienced people in a ski shop - your skill, size and foot conformation will determine which are best. You aren't that big - If you only want one pair, a slalom carver or junior GS ski would probably be best. Try to demo a few and see which you like. What type of racing are you doing anyway? NASTAR, USSA, ASRA?
