  1. The 'dude is hard on skis... Ebay is still the way to go if you know what you want. If not, demoing is the way to go...
  2. Their pic of the day: Actually, it looks pretty dismal. I think the pic of the day was from October. They have no snow base and no lifts running. Their website is dead...
  3. I think Blue has the worst snowmaking.
  4. '999, how did I know you started this thread?
  5. Terrific pic, DMC.
  6. Just wanted to be sure you had this link: http://www.wnbc.com/skireports/index.html
  7. With new skis, you should wax and rewax as much as you can stand to before using them.
  8. It had 5 light bulbs and enough shelves for plenty of pairs of skis. Iceman might not mind, as long as it is in our southern home, where the heating costs are less. Why not get moving with the card company I've been encouraging you to set up. Your pics are fantastic, and tourists would love them. Sibhusky could be right up there with Hallmark. Why outside at all? All that will do is harden the wax before it has time to seep into the base.
  9. I just went to a tuning demo where they put skis in a hot box after tuning.
  10. Better that way. I'd never be able to keep up with you if you worked out.
  11. Welcome, Shadowsmom! Congratulations. You are the fourth skimom on the board. General fatigue sounds like you may need more cardio conditioning. What do you do for exercize the rest of the year? If you don't keep your heart rate up for 30 min, three times a week, you should start that immediately. (If you are a real couch potato, start with 20 min, twice a week). Ski magazine recommends running, mountain biking, tennis, rollerblading - anything that develops proximal lower extremities. I vary it to keep it fun. I've been running (+/- biking) this year, and rollerbladed last year. I'm also doing an erg, but wouldn't wish that on anyone. You can buy a heart rate monitor for about $35 at Walmart to be sure you keep your heart in range. I'm adding strength exercizes now - we have a Skier's Edge machine. Sometimes, you can get them on ebay for not too much money. If I had regular access to weights, I'd add lower extremity and triceps strengthening in at this point. We will have to take a few runs at CB sometime. And, we will get you on the NASTAR scoreboard if you are not there already.
  12. The 'dude and I are skiing over Thanksgiving if we have to bring 'Freak's snowblower up to Vermont with us. Thanksgiving without skiing... UNTHINKABLE
  13. First apply a thick coat of soft (warm weather) wax, and then store them as described by Pops in a nice warm place.

    Autobrushes?

That's it, 'Freak. Thanks. The system I saw looked robust. I'd bet each brush lasts a long while. It would save hundreds of hours...

    Autobrushes?

I'll have to keep an eye out on ebay for one. Someone else was the photographer. The IDIOT raced SL gates with his (7 Megapixel) camera in his side pocket. You can guess the rest. Anyway, the card looks undamaged, so I'm hoping he'll be able to download some photos. It was awesome.

    Autobrushes?

Anyone have an opinion on automated, hand-held tuning brushes? It takes about 30 seconds to brush after waxing. I just saw one in action - wow, is it quick! But, I don't know where to get one, or how much they cost...
  18. ummm, redbull. Love it. There are a few medical studies showing redbull improves focus and attention a bit. But, that's relative to placebo - it's not been tested against caffeine. Having raced with and without the redbull influence, I'd agree that any effect it has is generally not worth its negative bladder impact. Anabolic steroids are associated with major negative health risks, Redbull isn't. Also, you can blow away the competition with steroids - not too many people blow away the competition with redbull. I'd hate to see a world where an athlete needs to subject themselves to the risks of steroids to compete.
  19. Thanks, '999. If I could tuck you guys into my ski bag I would. Meanwhile, have fun and don't be too good...
  20. And Loveland. Girls week out.
  21. Copper.
  22. Looks like a Belleayre blast from the past.
  23. Sorry, can't make it. I'll be off skiing. But, save me a PASKIANDRIDE hoodie.

    Book review

Books have Tables of Contents and an Index so the process is potentially more efficient than someone blithering on and on. Also, text images can be helpful. But, a poorly written book is useless too. For every 4 tempting books, maybe one turns out to be valuable.
