Looks like it snowed pretty good at Frost
Sno Mountain Skier replied to JFskiDan's topic in Jack Frost & Big Boulder
There was a drift about 3 ft high against the door to get into my office this morning. Montage Mountain received 36 inches of snow last night, take that Pineapple Express storm. -
Local grocery store about 5 miles from my office... They just posted the winners photos. I am the asshole who didn't smile (Not a fan of selfies, never had an instagram and had to get the app)

Just won a free seasons pass by doing their scavenger hunt that is going on today... I don't care when they open, I am pretty happy!

Based on your name and location I am going to go ahead and guess you are daughter of Chris Speicher from the article below. I mean he probably has the biggest grudge of all since he didn't get to buy it back in the day from the county. http://www.scrantontimestribune.com/projects/snomountain.pdf

I've probably skied 500+ days of my life there and I have been on Long Haul less than 20 times. That thing is brutal.... As for Montage, it will never be a huge success. It has been there for 30 years, and has been poorly managed each year. The new team is trying their best, but they will never have Camelback or Blue type success.

Really wish they wer opening earlier.... $20 and love would be worth it at 8 or 9 with no crowds.

It isn't out of the question that they were vandalized or robbed. Our place got hit in the middle of October once our season winded down.
-
I can tell you it is plenty cold. I work right next door to them and our locks were frozen solid because it is so cold.

After 5 years I don't need to put in that much effort to get laid, but I plan on pre booking/paying for the massage. Good idea about scheduling it mid day.
-
Looks like Whiteface it is.
-
Anyone have input on where to go for a couple days? I am thinking midweek in either January or February of going to either Gore or Whiteface. I haven't skied at either and haven't really skied much in 5 years. I'll go up with my girlfriend, so I'll need to stay somewhere with something to do other than skiing. Thinking she can go to a spa one day and just lounge another day and I can ski two days. So keep that in mind. Looking at a place at both Gore and Whiteface that would fit what we are looking for, but if anyone has first hand knowledge, it would be helpful.

I believe the Phoebe Snow motor is from a Chevy or Ford. It was years ago when we sneaked into the engine room, but it was either a Ford or Chevy.

You are not going to find much. The Scranton area does not have many vacation rentals.

Seriously, WTF is with this Weather?
Sno Mountain Skier replied to Ride Delaware ?'s topic in General Chat
TP4 didn't we get into a heated battle once that almost came to internet blows? I feel like Ski999 offered you lift ticket to Montage or something because of it. -
They got a remodel, don't know if you were still there when they finished. Its like walking into a completelty different store. No shit on the walls anymore.

http://scranton.craigslist.org/cto/3961366403.html If anyone is looking for a used car, I am trying to sell mine. I will sell it to someone on here for $8,500, KBB says almost $9,450.

Going to have the same problems with this new management. -
"they had a good concert series" They have nothing to do with the concerts at all.

FWIW Back when it was Montage I had a pass in the 700's three times.
-
It is built on the wrong side, but not because of terrain. The mountain currently faces West, this is the reason the mountain doesn't hold snow too long into the Spring season. The only reason the mountain was built on the side it was so it could be seen from 81.

I don't have high hopes for Sno to open before Christmas. I just checked their facebook and they haven't printed any season passes yet or started snow making.
-
Well my phone works, it was giving a weird busy signal last night. Much different than what Sno's sounds like.

It could be something else. My workplace is 200 yards from the ski slopes and I tried to call my office and it wouldn't go through.
