  1. you forgot the icy death... thats clearly the best part about it. whats the terrain park challenge thing they are talking about? is it the jeep thing? and if so, how does skiercross qualify you for a slopestyle comp...
  2. um so what exactly makes those a special edition? its a red frame with persimmon lense? ... nevermind, all the images didnt load when i typed that. 90 is a good deal for those.
  3. it opened today around 12:30 or 1ish.
  4. ha i guess i'm not the only one who was wondering that

ha yeah what people tell you they are capable of in the shop when they are buying gear and what they actually do on the hill are pretty different sometimes. i get a lot of the same thing. i guess why i didnt like the chronic is because it isnt really great at either park riding or as an all mtn twin. the PE is a killer all mtn ski, but still pretty good in the park, although it is also a little on the stiff side.
  6. valley west is opening before challenge... when challenge has had snow on it for like the last week now?
  7. and by 6 they mean challenge, falls, tuts, skytop, shuttle, and homestretch... which anyone who has passed third grade can tell you that that's really only one more run.

just wanted to add a bit to what you said... personally, i think the chronics suck as a ski in general. they arent great all mountain, and i really dont like them in the park either. the prophets also come in four widths, at 80mm, 90mm, 100mm, and 130mm in the waste.
  9. how the hell is it 37 up there. its not even above freezing in philly right now.
  10. 70 feet is possible, but a safe 70 feet with a landing that matches the size of the jump... that's gonna take a ton of snow.
  11. i have a pair of line invaders in a 171 i'll sell ya. trev got the description pretty right on. i rode invaders last year and really liked them alot. they're super fun for pressing boxes and just buttering around and popping and bonking everything in sight. if you're interested PM me on here or IM at Justo8484 and we'll talk.
  12. i'm not saying it should only be open to those working full time. i certainly dont. no one on our team works full time since we are all in school. i was just wondering because of all the talk of them not actually working there. they're all sick and if they do all work at the shop, props to them and their shop for putting together a really good team. i think it says a lot about the quality of the staff at the shop if they can all ride well and back up the product they sell through that as well as through the technical knowledge of the product too.
  13. hmm thats odd, i didnt see anything about that on the flyer... but whats the deal with the revival kids from last week, seriously?
  14. so what you are saying is that the kids that rode as the revival shop team last week, and won a trip to breck, dont actually work at the shop...?
  15. this game can go on and on and on... that's why i asked bill if there was anywhere that we can see what tricks stack up against what, just as a basis for what to go by for a comp. i'll use the nollie lip example again. its a really difficult trick to do, and when its done right it looks really cool, but as far as i can tell from my experience, a stock 270 on will beat it every time. what trick beats what is just so subjective, and then when you throw in one being done by a skier and another being done by a snowboarder, its even more difficult to tell what was better.
  16. what you had up today was fun for only having a few hours to make everything. the takeoffs for the jumps were really nice. build those types of takeoffs for the 30-60 footers on sidewinder and that would be awesome
  17. hit a 60 foot jump switch and tell me switch tricks are not hard. both a switch 7 and rodeo 7 are hard tricks. competition-wise, the rodeo 7 would probably take it on difficulty due to the upside down factor. on film, i'd rather see a nice grabbed cab 7.
  18. bill, although i dont necesarily agree with some of the decisions that were made, i appreciate that you guys are trying to finally include skiers in a lot of the stuff we've been excluded from in the past. as papa said, those of us who were ready to step up were really comfortable hitting that last jump, but the first jump was just not as nice. i know there's nothing you can do about it after the fact, but maybe try and get input from the riders as to what they are comfortable on. none of us knew that first jump was going to be in the comp so we all skipped it, and therefore no one really had any practice time on it. i guess as far as judging, it is very difficult to judge a skier against a snowboarder. is there anywhere that people would be able to see the criteria you are judging on? what i've found out after a few years of competing is that just because you are riding well, does not mean you will necesarily score high if your riding is not really what the judges are looking for.
  19. ha sorry man it was getting close to bedtime on that one...feel free to edit that for readability if you feel like it.
  20. finally get to go back home to blue mtn the true mtn. make something fun for us keith!
  21. sorry buddy, but i'm gonna have to disagree with you about that last hit. it was perfect. getting speed for it really was not a problem. start right next to the wallride and tuck. doing that, and not even really tucking as much as i could, or really pumping anything, i landed about 10-15 feet down from the knuckle every time, and i dont have a lot of weight to carry speed for how tall i am. you didnt really have to bomb the whole trail at all. thanks for the props though, we did what we could, we really thought we had it. maybe if we had a snowboarder on our team...
  22. mailing address is palmerton, carbon county, lower smithfield township i think?
  23. exactly. there were probably two jumps at any given time at blue that were worth risking my knees and ankles hitting out of the 5 or 6 that were built. the jump that was at an angle next to the "70" footer was usually decent, and the small tables higher up on sidewinder, when they were two in a row were fun for a few days, the hip was sick the first day it was built til it got trashed, and the stepup near the top was fun for a few days, but thats about it. nothing had landings anywhere near big enough to accomidate a safe margin of error on any of those jumps, the "70" in particular. that landing should have been 3-4 times as long as it was, and much steeper. most of us didnt hit that thing because it really just wasnt safe. i've hit stuff just as big before with no problem, but the jumps at blue, for various reasons last year, were not really safe to try and learn new tricks on. most of it was due to snow quality. a slightly mellow landing is tolerable if you are landing on nice fresh soft snow, but when the park only gets the guns when conditions get super sketchy like the case last year, landings turn to ice, and falling 20 feet to a not steep enough icy landing is not fun. give trevor and the rest of park crew some nice snow to work with thats actually sculptable and blue's park could potentially be amazing due to the amount of area they have to work with.
