you dont necesarily need something as dark as the fire lense if most of your skiing is done here. they're nice for super bright days, but i wear my high intensity blue lensed goggles much more often. the fire lenses look cool, but there are other options that will perform just as well. check out vr28, vr28 iridium, or black iridium for day lenses too.

rampage liners are a lot softer and squishier than the cross or pro, or the new intuition liners this year.

good thing we got that rail out of the way early on. pretty much everyone who rides blue regularly knows where the thing is now. since its already posted though... its about 30 feet long, single barrel over stairs with a handrail on either side. there is no inrun so you need to make a dropin which takes some creative construction ideas that you cant really see in that photo. for the topic starter... people are territorial about their handrails. if i took the time to drive around and find something that looks feasible, i'm not gonna tell the world where it is so they can go hit it before me while i'm stuck down at school in philly.

i cant say i'm 100% positive, but my understanding of a directional twin is that it is true twin shape, but the insert pattern is set back from center slightly, but can still be mounted at center by offsetting the bindings. by having the bindings set more towards one end of the board, but the board still being symmetrical, it becomes a directional twin.

i think the krypton is probably the best of both worlds at the moment if you're looking for a boot that kills it in the park but can also ski all mountain. you can change the flex of the boot as well as the cuff angle. unfortunately, dalbello doesnt have the brand recognition that salomon does, and the boot definately doesnt fit everyone.

jeff mentioned my langes... its a freeride 120, which is a snug fit, buts its a frankenboot. i have super skinny feet, so pretty much anything but an old lange (the new ones got a lot wider) or a race boot are my only options. lange kills it with boots. only problem for me is, the ones that fit me are all stiff, which is fine for freeriding, but for riding park, i want something i can bottom out, fle-wise. i took both bolts out of the back and hacked a v into the inner shell so they are super soft to the front, but still race stiff side to side. i also padded the sides of the tongue so my whole lower leg takes the impact instead of just my shin bone. custom footbeds are a must for me as well. the best boot for me, for what i am doing, and i feel that this applies to any freerider as well, from other people i work with to work i've done to other kids boots, is that the boot should be snug with a little wiggle room in the toes, but be soft to the front and stiff side to side. the krypton is the closest to this off the shelf, but its too narrow for a lot of people. the spk is going for the wider foot portion of the freeride market, and covering that well, but i dont feel like its stiff laterally for anything outside of the park, and the flex is really not any softer than the krypton rampage or lange freestyle boot, which both come in at a cheaper price point and will ski out of the park much much better. its cool that salomon is trying but it needs to be tweaked.

bjorn and erik leines were there for the oakley rail jam last year. i dont think they're from here. a couple years ago when they had the oakley rail or bail jf cusson was there.

so, did i ever mention that i hate you? i mean that in a loving way though. seriously, i'm just jealous you're skiing real snow in october, when i'm stuck loading up the back of my subi with rink snow to hit handrails.

ski, how is tre saying he doesnt enjoy riding a minipipe a dickish move? to me, that seems like if you were to say you dont enjoy skiing a slow skiing trail because you cant ski fast on it at the speed you like to ski. i'm not saying you dont enjoy a trail like that, because you very well might, especially if you are teaching your daughter or a friend who may not have the experience you do. all tre's saying is that he doesnt enjoy riding it because it doesnt help him progress. ability-wise, some of us are beyond what a minipipe can offer and therefore have no intrerest in skiing it. okemo had a perfectly groomed minipipe when i was there last year, but i didnt ski it because i felt it to be a waste of my time. am i a dick for saying that it would have been a waste of my time? i dont think so. maybe you should take your own advice and move on instead of trying to throw in the last blow.

matchstick seems to stick to pretty much the same format year after year. they have killer footage, but dont really spice it up at all with creative editing like level1 or plehouse does. pollard's segment in the movie is completely nuts. i was watching it all day at work today, and he just takes bc freeriding to a completely different level. what i liked most about the movie though, was the shots of the double jump in whistler, with the two kickers at a 90 degree angle from each other, mostly cause we watched it all go down from harmony ridge when we were in whistler.

did you preorder it? i preordered, and it hasnt come yet... hopefully monday before i head back to school.

when it comes to anything relating to the park, i tend to just ignore doug for the most part.

its really ignorant to claim that boulder is going to be the best this year, and that nothing else will even come close, when no one knows what every area is bringing to the table. yeah, boulder has a bunch of new rails (that all look pretty similar to me), but blue has tons of new stuff, a wider trail, a new lift, and better snowmaking, bear completely rehauled their park and is adding new rails, features, etc, and i'm sure cameltoe, shawnee, and the other areas are making improvements too. i just dont see how everyone has such blind faith in two guys from creek that they can completely turn a place around in one year. they might wanna worry about getting better lighting before making four of the same box.

last time we hit a handrail, the lip we built was about a foot and a half high, which for skiers is pretty small. my friend who was on a snowboard however, ollied before the lip and still got onto the rail. i wish it was that easy to ollie that high on skis.

your skis are intact, as opposed to both of my pair from last year. those invaders that are coming back might be up for sale though.

the two times or so that blue's pipe was cut last year, it was pretty amazing for around here. obviously not up to par with stuff out west or up north for the most part, but when blue's was cut, it was really nice and ridable. if you came at it with speed, you could get four solid head high+ hits out of it.

good deal on a killer setup. they're in good shape too. TMs are really fun skis, so somebody lookin for a backup pair or their first pair of twins should snag these babies quick.

mounting without a jig is gonna be a fun time for you, thats for sure. it can be done, but good luck getting the toe and heel perfectly straight. if they arent, the release won't be spot on, and neither will forward pressure. another thing you have to watch with a kids ski is that it is much thinner, and therefore easier to drill through or bubble out the base than an adult ski. just curious, how much of a deal did you get on the skis? after paying for the mounting charge, it might have come out the same in the end, since most shops offer discounted or free mounting when you purchase multiple items from them.

from experiences i have had, drop stuff sucks, pretty bad. mine completely fell apart on me. that was a few years ago, so their quality may have increased, but i wasnt nearly as hard on my gear then either.
