When will be Blue's last day? Let the arguing begin!
Justo8484 replied to Old Geezer's topic in Blue Mountain
its decent. i wouldnt say its awesome, but the rails are still set up pretty well, and there are two decent jumps and a few small crappy ones as well. supposedly they blew snow on it last night. -
we carry race stock stuff in qtown. not sure what we had offhand this year, but i remember seeing a bunch of rc4's and i believe some dynastars down there too. but yeah, the highest end we had at whitehall is something like the volkl allstar, fischer rx8, nordica hot rods and speed machines. its not necesarily race stock, but its definately high end.
-
i'll give you that, their high end stuff is top notch for sure, but carrying the whole line just to have the high end skis isnt really worth it. my old 1080s were foam core, and even though the core was shot after a little less than a year, they still skied well, they just didnt handle the crud at high speeds quite as well. i'm sure water has seeped into the core, and they are still holding together, somehow, so i'm not saying all foam cores are bad necesarily.

park was mediocre, i think blue's is nicer right now. blue really only has 2 decent hits, but the jumpline at bear wasn't quite how i expected it to be. rails were set up pretty well for the most part, and FINALLY the c box was back in! that thing is tons of fun. trev busted up his face on the down box in the big park, which was amusing to watch. overall, a fun day, but i'm looking forward to blue tomorrow for sure. will i be seeing anyone there?
-
dude, wear the helmet. they're safer, warmer, and hold headphones better than a hat too! i should be there around 3 or so, riding til my ankle doesnt wanna be in a ski boot anymore.
-
you dont leave blue, dont lie. unless you get the hookup from the muffin man perhaps?
-
are they just not getting the crowds maybe? i think i am gonna be at bear tomorrow, should be there around 2:30 or so. anyone else gonna be there?

Better Ways to the Spend the Money than the 6-Pack
Justo8484 replied to trackbiker's topic in Blue Mountain
do you have a personal vendetta against me or something? whats the deal? i dont know why you think i'm some pompous arrogant jackass or whatever conception it is you have in your mind. i know skiing, and i know design, and when the topics arise, i'll voice my opinion, as i have every right to do, just like you, but personal attacks on me? whats the deal? did i cut you off, yell at you for riding off the side of a lip, whats up? -
doug, are you the reason that one of the stairs is broken... i just noticed that yesterday that one of the stairs towards the bottom looks like someone came up a little short trying to gap the steps...

covered bridge inn, i've never been there but heard the food is pretty good. and bud, the fox is in bath. contrary to the name, bath is rather dirty. i'd try to avoid it at all costs.

Better Ways to the Spend the Money than the 6-Pack
Justo8484 replied to trackbiker's topic in Blue Mountain
that i do not know. my best guess is no, and once they were initially spread out in the morning, you wouldnt really need a 6 pack there and a quad over on the other side of the mountain would be more beneficial. what do i know though, i only ski there a few times a week, i'm sure the mountain managers get out on the mountain to check out these things far more often. -

thats why you replace the main street chair with a quad, and keep the burma chair there and running for beginners, so when they suck at getting on the lift, the people coming from main, switchback, lazy, etc, can ride the quad without it stopping as frequently. also, it would draw more traffic to that area of the mountain, spacing the people out, instead of having the east side of the mountain be a complete zoo on weekends. the only reason i can see that makes the 6 pack feasible is due to the increased traffic on the east side from the new condos. -
way to be optimistic. maybe you should try forming a coherent sentence next time, too.
-
i should be there around 2:30 or 3, doing laps through the park. green coat white pants and a black helmet, i'll be riding with toast and a snowboarder friend from school.
-
^ it seems like that would make more sense, that way you're spreading the crowds out over a larger area. i dont know if the lift would be long enough to be high speed though, which is why bear's quad isnt a high speed lift.

firstly, i never claimed to be an expert on anything. i'm only 21, and there are a lot of people that are far more knowledgable on a lot of subjects than i am, and i am not denying that. what i was saying, as many people besides me have also noticed, is that blue's commercial, brochures, and billboards suck, aesthetically speaking. neon green and a muted orange in no way connotate having a fun time skiiing at blue mountain, especially in the way that brochure was laid out. as for the commercial, i offered to shoot video for the mountain and edit it for them to put on their website, free of charge. i was told that they didnt want anything like that. eventually, i found out that that wasnt the reason at all, but it was because they thought since i had no professional experience, i had no skill in the matter. i was, however, told that i, along with some of my friends, would be allowed to work with the film crew for the commercial to help better capture the freeride scene at blue. we spent an entire day filming in the park, and the camera crew said that everything went very well, and that they got a lot of good shots throughout the day. as you can see in the commercial, none of them made the final cut. the only shot i saw from that day is a shot of me skiing bumps, of which you can only see from my knees down. as trevor said, i've tried for years in various ways to push the freeride scene at blue, because i feel strongly that that is where our sport is headed in the future. i'm up there 4 or 5 days a week, filming kids to help them get a sponsorship video together, helping out with the freeride program, and giving kids advice on how they can finally stick a new trick they've been working on, and you go and call me out for stating a knowledge-based opinion?
-
^ you are most likely correct. she's also the same one that said i had no idea how to film skiing because i was only 18 years old. if you have seen their commercial, well, thats what they got for not letting me help.
-
you have a few good points, but i'll ski there regardless of their marketing campaign. i live less than 10 minutes away and get a good deal on a season pass. as a graphic design student, however, i find it appalling that they can pass that brochure off as professional quality. i dont want them to get commercial either. in fact, i pretty much hate the idea of the 6 pack and condos at the bottom lodge. its going to kill the local atmosphere of the place.
-
it will run directly beneath the quad, it shoots off the left side of paradise right near the top. its going to be a blue square, so says the posters at the mountain. the 6 pack at stratton sucked, so hopefully blue's wont work out the same way, but i believe it will. i havent seen any info anywhere that actually says the new trail WILL be open next season, just that they are continuing to work on it, so dont get your hopes up.
-
from a marketing and pr standpoint, i'd have to say she's a little out of touch. did you not see blue's brochures this year?
-
you will be able to get to the 6 pack from pretty much every run, just the same way you can get to the quad from pretty much every run. yeah, it will be nice for those of us who ride park, but its only going to make the slopes that much more crowded, which i dont want.
-
kathy is in charge of the office pretty much. sandy harlan(?) is in charge of marketing and pr, etc. dennis didnt like my constructive criticism email i sent him last year, which almost resulted in the revoking of my season pass. now you see my concern...
-
if i'm correct, that guy is involved with the race program pretty heavily, and also has a thing for the krells, so personally, i hope he doesnt buy the place. the krells need to get out of there, now. although if he does buy out ray, he won't have complete ownership, so there's still a bright side to it all.

well, you missed the day when i worked my way up from cab 3 to cab 9 in under an hour, and also learned disaster 450s on the downkink box on sidewinder. romano came back up with a cast on his wrist and landed the 7 over the 75 footer that he's been wanting to do too. other than that, not much. p.s. i'm lying. i was in vermont all week.
-
as of last weekend, it hasnt been sold. unless something has happened this week, its still under the same ownership as before. my dad got the details from one of the part owners.
