  1. 53 feet lip to knuckle. that thing puts you straight up into the air too. besides big air a few years ago on falls, probably the biggest jump blue has ever built. you have to commit your speed to it or you are done.
  2. dude you obviously havent been to blue this year then. park crew is doing a much better job than last year at maintaining things, and the pipe is much larger than last year. correct me if i am wrong but... bear doesnt have a pipe open yet?
  3. what's he running his DIN at? i wouldnt necesarily tighten them, it probably came off for a reason. you don't want him shredding his knee with how young he is.
  4. not to be a dick, but it doesnt count unless the equipment stays with you... gotta keep those skis on!
  5. toast an i will probably be up at night after we get out of work. i'm hoping for some nice soft landings in the park from this warm weather.
  6. if you cant view the videos, go into the source code and get the source url and open it from windows media player. youtube never seems to work for me.
  7. ha your belly slide was pretty nice, i must say. i still didnt get all the footy on my comp yet, but there will be a much longer final product at the end of the season.
  8. here's some footage from the past few days: http://www.zippyvideos.com/475383300280005...2-18-2/original bear creek http://www.zippyvideos.com/861310977281719...n_edit_12-23_1/ blue mtn

kev and i got to bear for opening at 8:30 this morning, first few runs were a little hard, but the lips onto rails were good so we hiked the flat red rail for a while and got some good video of tha. once the snow softerned, we hit up the jump line in the tubing park and kevin and boyer threw down for the camera. we met up with dorsey a little later and then got some pictures taken of us on the rainbow box by chuck for the website i guess. i'll try and edit the video and give it to dorsey to throw online for your viewing pleasure.
  10. i understand that a lot of people dont want to pay to use a park. and they don't have to, thats what the lower park would be for. if you compare a pass park to a nastar course, it puts things into perspective. both require that people wait their turn til the course is clear, both require above average skiing ability, and if people are passionate and serious about wanting to ski in the advanced park, they would get a park pass. i don't know where you are getting your $20 figure from; stratton's park pass doesn't cost anything, you just have to watch the park safety video, and its good for the season. no extra cost to the skier/rider, but its just enough of a hassle to keep the weekend wedger from getting a 540 stomped on their head and then suing the ski area because of it. regardless of whether the safety videos do anything or not, they give the mountains a little more leeway from an insurance standpoint to put more advanced features in the park. i can't think of anyone that i have skied with that wouldn't go watch a 20 minute video at the beginning of the season if it meant that we wouldnt have to worry nearly as much about being cut off or landing on some 70 year old lady because she decided it was a brilliant idea to ski straight across the trail right as someone was about to take off from the lip of a jump. also from the mountain's standpoint, the park would require less upkeep because the people in there would know how and how not to hit the given features. ultimately, this post is a waste of everyone's time, though, because until the mountain falls under new ownership, there won't be a park pass.
  11. park passes work, its as simple as that. PAsucks would love me for this, but look at mountain creek. you need a park pass for one of their parks there, and since they have implemented that, it keeps the crowds down. you need a pass for stratton's power park as well. not only does it keep people who shouldnt be in the park out, but it allows the mountain more freedom in what they can put in the park because of insurance reasons. when insurance companies know that everyone who will be in that park has seen a park etiquette and safety video, they are much more willing to let the area put larger features in, because they know the kids using the park are aware of what they are getting themselves into. its very similar to nastar, you have to pay a fee for that as well. setups like nastar or a more advanced park require more maintenance than a regular trail does, and more people need to be payed to work on it, so the park pass could cover the wages of those employees. it really just makes sense. you still have the lower park and the pipe that the beginners can have free reign over.
  12. possibly the best, yet most outrageous story posted on this site? sounds like an interesting girl...
  13. i took that photo, by the way. thanks for the credit john.
  14. i might have to stop by on my way home from school friday...
  15. or... just go into your friendly local ski shop, and ask for ptex! we'd be glad to sell it to you if you come in to nestors.
  16. you are a moron, plain and simple. no one ever said the jiblab sucks. they obviously know how to build jibs, or they wouldnt have jobs anymore, thats not what we are arguing. and i hate to break it to you, boxes were around long before the jiblab "invented" them. ever gone to a skatepark before? its the same concept, except they are made out of steel and plastic instead of steel and wood.
  17. dude, go to bear and see for yourself that its not the joke you are making it out to be. the jumps arent the greatest yet, but they havent even been open for a week. the new u box thing is probably the sickest rail i've ever hit, and thats including stuff from up north or out west. the setup is perfect. it was all built by hand, its its way more solid than any of the planet rails they had last year. did you know that they are building a big jump line in their tubing park right now? there's jumps in there that are 50+. sure, the pipe may not be as good as creek, but the vert just isnt there, we make do with what we have. oh, and lift tickets arent as expensive and you hardly ever have to wait in the lift line, let alone wait to hit a feature.
  18. yeah, i've been using surfboard resin this year and its holding up really well. let it dry for a few minutes and it gets kinda sticky and you can shape it however you want. obviously its not something easy to come by up here, but i had a bottle laying around from when i had to fix my board over the summer. i've used it for two chunks out of the topsheet, and its worked great. smells like death though.
  19. sheetz has jones soda. need i say more?
  20. so are we gonna have sidewinder by friday?
  21. theres actually two on schoenersville now, they just put a new one in. one is up on the bath/northampton end near fuller and the other is down past westgate by moravian, but still, within about 2 minutes of each other. i wouldnt trust any kind of convenience store in allentown though. their murder rate is through the roof right now. i was just at 711 on 7th street the other night for a quick energy drink fix and as we pulled up, a bunch of guys scattered and got into cars, and the payphone outside was ringing... you know something was about to go down.
  22. ^there's plenty of wawas in pa. just not on the way back to the turnpike from blue.
  23. i've gone offtrail at blue plenty of times and no one has ever cared. you just have to be careful about when and where you go. ideally, i wont be skiing on trail at all on friday, but that depends on how much snow we get.

    The loft

you can bring in any boot you want to get worked on, but if it is covered under the garantee, you dont pay for labor, you just pay materials costs. if the boot is not under the garantee, then there is a fee for labor as well as materials. from what it sounds like, a heel lift wasnt the best choice for you. i'm assuming you have custom footbeds, so your foot is properly aligned inside the boot. if you just needed your toes pulled away from the front a little bit, and adding the heel lift gave you pressure vover the top of your foot near your ankle, then a slightly smaller heel lift and either pressing out the toe box in the liner, or possibly heating up and stretching the shell might work better for you.

and you'd be just as annoyed if, like shadows, you waited by the skis wanting help, and no one came to answer your questions. better to offer assistance even if it isnt needed than to ignore the customer who needs some help. its called customer service, most good businesses practice it.
