  1. I don't have the luxury of showing up to work whenever I want. If I can make it, it'll be because I got the ok from my manager to pull an 8-4 instead of 9-5, and I won't get there til 6 at the earliest. Obviously if you're pulling a 12-8 or something, there's not really a way to make it happen but otherwise, ya gotta do what ya gotta do. It's a slow start to a thus far crappy season. We've gotta put in a little bit more work to get the goods these days, unfortunately.
  2. Toast if you're actually gonna stick around I might be convinced to drive up. Realistically, it's tough for me to get there much before 7 midweek, so we shall see. I'll work on shifting things up a little bit.
  3. chutes are super fun. When I was there, two were not open due to low snow, but what I got to ski was awesome. I'd love to get back there and ski them on a good year.
  4. Can they please allow bikes? I don't even care if they run a shuttle instead of the lift. Being this warm, there's a large contingent of mountain bikers who would for sure pay for some DH right now, but no one is open.
  5. MIGHT be interested in the quad pack for a hypothetical trip in January, but that's depending on a lot of factors, one of those factors being the notorious, mysterious snorovr, so if you find someone else to pawn them to, don't hold out for me
  6. yeah, that's along the lines of what I've read as well. I just think ruin in this case is a relative term. Compared to last year, almost a month of ski season has been "ruined"; it's all relative. We just need some cold so everyone can stop whining and get back on the slopes.
  7. Not trying to call you out, but do you have any sources to back that up? Obviously I'm being just as speculative, but everything I've read lately is more along the lines of "more volatile, less predictable, bigger temp swings" for the northeast, not necessary just across the board warmer. Last year to this year has certainly been all of those things, and one degree change average over the globe doesn't necessarily mean it gets one degree warmer uniformly.
  8. Holy. Shit. This is what it's come to now?!
  9. Planning to make it up Saturday. It'd be awesome to have a fresh setup, but what was there last weekend was fun too so it's all good. Hooray for slushy park laps in December?
  10. i agree, Sunday was better for sure. Absolutely worth going up to get some early season turns, but better than blue at its best? Not sure what you skied, but there was definitely a lot of scraped off crappy spot. Still better than nothing though!
  11. We were also on the late start program this morning. Ended up parking in some weird lot that normally had a trail right next to it, but due to lack of snow, said trail was not rideable, so we walked about 5 minutes up to K1 base to get tickets. 2 for 1 at $37 a pop is totally worth it for what's open right now. Stuff off north ridge was the best by far, but upper skylark was fun, as was northstar(?) off of the snowdon quad. Rails2riches was cool but seemed way short this year. No last dash for cash like in years past.
  12. except the wealthiest people in the country don't go to blue. They fly west and go to beaver creek, aspen, deer valley, etc.
  13. pretty much. I rode boulder without goggles last weekend, but that was pretty much the equivalent of going to a skate park, and it was misting/drizzling all day so goggles would have just gotten wet and foggy. No way I could actually ski at reasonable speed without goggles unless it's like 50°+ outside. That said, leaving for VT at 5am tomorrow. Time to pack and get some sleep!
  14. remember when hop devil was something special? My, how times have changed.
  15. Yeah, I'll take bear's bar over blue's any day. The prices are cheaper and you get your beer in a proper pint glass, not a 12oz plastic cup. Stone IPA was something like $8 at blue last year? That's a $6 beer in philly, and that's on the expensive end.

    Tahoe

it wouldn't take much after the last 4!

    Tahoe

Mostly just curious, but you can really easily ski the cottonwoods in Utah without renting a car. Same deal with the park city area. If I can conveniently have someone else drive me around for less money, why not?
  19. Weather is looking mostly cooperative up there. I'm also heading up. They might be getting a bit of rain down low, but it looks like overnight lows will be cold enough for the precip to at least be frozen up top, and coldish and dry towards the end of the week for some resurfacing.

Yeah I'm also going with my family. Parents are just gonna be skiing northstar, so they realistically don't need a car, but I don't wanna be stuck at northstar the whole time, and don't feel like dealing with a rental car if I can get elsewhere easily with public transit. Also, Protect Our Winters and whatnot.

    Tahoe

Anyone here ever done Tahoe without renting a car? Gonna be staying at northstar but wondering if their public transit is good enough to get to squalpine without renting a car. I checked google maps, and it should be like a half hour drive, but it's taking the most round about way and taking almost 5 hours if I switch to transit, even though there are bus routes on the shorter, more direct route?
  22. I saw that one. No idea how that thing got to the parking spot it was in, although the front lip was bolted to the front left fender, so maybe they've had some run-ins with water bars in the past?
  23. I wasn't out to intentionally destroy equipment, hope you didn't take it that way. I'm not a high schooler funded by mom and dad, I fully appreciate how much money people invest in their setups and I'm not out trying to ruin someone's day by destroying their gear. Also, the media coming out of Boulder this year has been top notch, so if that's all you, props. Back on topic(?), the park crew did an awesome job keeping things as nice as possible, given the soft conditions and early season traffic. Hopefully the forecast trends a little colder so more snow can be made to start expanding terrain.
  24. Yesterday, aside from the drizzle, was a perfect spring park day. Too bad it's November and the snow isn't supposed to be slushy yet. Rail setup was a lot more fun than freedom has been for opening the past few years, but it started to get weird and janky by around 3 when all the professional film crews came out to get the shot for the boys. I may or may not have shifty tapped a light stand.
