  1. got room for a straggler who may or may not have an AT setup yet?
  2. Sidewinder most likely isn't even on the radar yet. The amount of snow that trail requires dwarfs everything else. From what I remember, they usually blow for about two weeks to get it up and running. With this coming week's cold weather, it might take a bit less time, but no chance it'll be open in less than a week, especially with the resurfacing that'll need to happen after the rain now and cold tonight turns everything into an ice rink.
  3. It's quite interesting reading other people's accounts of the same terrain. I didn't get first tracks on anything, but paradise fell apart quick. It got pretty chunky with lots of cookies. Trying to set an edge and just sliding like you're on bearings is kinda weird. Lazy wasn't bad with the exception of a few icy spots toward the bottom where the pitch increases. My favorite was Main Street. The bumps were definitely firm, but lower main early on was awesome, smooth, grippy snow that you could really crank out the turns. Once the snow started, conditions got much better. I wouldn't say there was any more than one inch, but it mixed with the man made snow and kept things fresh. We peaced once it switched to a mix around 12:30. Not a bad 4+ hours at blue!
  4. you can make cheese out of almonds now. Not even pizza is safe these days. Stupid dietary restrictions.
  5. I don't feel bad at all for skipping sunday. It needs to get cold so they can get more open and try and cover up the crappy ice base on what's already open. There were dirt patches between the bumps on Saturday.
  6. Not skiing related, but hey, it's winter, and I played outside. Skied the past two days at blue so I decided to take advantage of the warm (shitty!) weather and play bikes. Woke up early with the intention of getting a ride in before the rain only for it to start drizzling as soon as I took my bike out to my patio. The rain subsided after about an hour or so, the sun came out, and the pavement dried up, so I figured I might as well give it a go. I met up with my friend john at noon and we put in a very techy 11.3 miles in the wiss. Rode a few trails neither of us have ridden before, and I've been riding this park multiple times a week for almost 7 years now. I [emoji173]️ the wiss. We stopped for a mid-ride beer half way through that john had stashed in his pack. Founders all day IPA gave me the extra carbs I needed to finish the ride strong. More story than pics but whatever. John coming out of some techy GNAR. And crossing a bridge Said bridge. Metal was a bit slick and kind of terrifying to walk across with cleats. Mid ride photo shoot while enjoying my beer.
  7. Based on the "bro's" bindings, I'd say it's a pretty safe bet he gapes pretty hard. He also probably lifts. I'd say the kid held it together pretty well, and either has no idea what he's doing, or doesn't have the muscle mass in his legs to actually slow himself down once he got moving that fast. Kinda sad his bro couldn't even carry enough speed to catch him and scoop him up to avoid imminent disaster. As far as the whole pizza thing, I taught kids that age. They understand pizza and French fries. They generally don't understand 'wedge' or 'parallel', so you can't fault em for yelling pizza. I was taught pretty early on that if I ever felt like I was going to fast, to just pressure one ski really hard til I turned across the hill and fell over. Seemed to work out alright, as I'm still here. At least the parents put a lid on him.
  8. Meh, going mountain biking instead. Cold weather needs to come back so they can open more terrain.
  9. Today was like skiing down an ice cube tray for the first few runs: Frozen and chunky. Luckily, the beer was cold, the parking lot was well groomed, and I was still the best skier on the mountain. I guess I'll be back for more tomorrow!
  10. She just tunes it out for the most part, at least that's what she tells me
  11. Hope that thing looks like the textbook definition of Santa. We tried it one year and got denied. They were turning people down and crushing little children's dreams left and right. The customer service at that place is horrendous.
  12. probably close to 3 hours? It was a sipper for sure. No repercussions thus far.
  13. I've been sipping on that bottle you gave me for about 2 hours now. Things might get spicy later on...
  14. That's not what skins looked like the last time we played. [emoji87]
  15. experience 88's out of that bunch for sure. That ski rips.
  16. that would be a snow wolf. Also, you're welcome to give the on3p's a shot tomorrow if you want, I vaguely remember you wanting to try them? I've been using snocru the past few times out. Seems pretty accurate.
  17. sounds like your weekend is gonna suck. It's a shame you'll have to deal with all that powder. Hopefully they groom it quickly for you.
  18. What are you talking about? They made snow on almost everything currently open last night.
  19. another pair of your skis I need to try. Torn on what to get, leaning toward Jeffrey 122's at the moment...
  20. Man up and send it.. It's tranny finders all the way down.
  21. Got down below freezing in the lovely hamlet of dannersville last night. I thought lowers main was kinda fun! Park was meh though. LL cool J. Or somethin like that. Good takin a few laps with ya! When's that Sierra Nevada clone showin up at blue?
  22. Real time reporting! On the Main Street chair now going to check out the park. Paradise was pretty good, haven't skied lazy cause why bother, the top 6/7ths is flat. Bumps are pretty nice. A bit scrapey but spaced and shaped nicely. Did a few laps with tarponhead and his harem who like to chat but are pretty solid bump skiers. If the park sucks I may dip and squeeze in a bike ride.
  23. blue made snow in weird sporadic places. Like, top of lazy, middle of main, and maybe easy out? Must have been very borderline temps last night.
