  1. bumps were pretty nice, park was fun, not a bad first day of the season!
  2. it was more like two super-quarterpipes. You could get maybe 3 hits on the thing.
  3. i dunno if I'd go that far. Boulder is still a lot closer/easier to get to for people coming from farther north or jersey who just wanna ride park. Why people would want to ride freedom vs come around at blue, I don't know, but I hope they enjoy their slightly inclined snow patch.
  4. you just gave me the weirdest mental image I've had in a long, long time
  5. There's a big misconception that if it's snowing, you can blow snow. That's usually not the case, since humidity is high. Not sure how cold it actually got last night, but assuming it was around 30° or so, humidity would have to be ~50% or less to get good (non crappy ice-snow) production. I'd rather have em wait til they can blow good snow than deal with impenetrable ice all season.
  6. would not surprise me if they open before Black Friday. If they hold off til then, I'd hope it'll be more than 3 trails.
  7. red snow?! Must be the end of days. I'm guessing Chris Christie has something to do with it.
  8. My bike ride home from work might suck today...
  9. Went for a hike in Wissahickon this afternoon. It was interesting hiking a lot of the same trails I normally bike and get a different perspective. Also hiked some trails I've never been on before which was cool. We got a bit of a late start and just made it back to the car before it was totally dark. We also found this weird looking tree stump that looks like a deer head!
  10. for once I agree with doug! Grocery bags work great for bathroom trash cans and cat litter bags. We get plastic bags but at least reuse them for something we'd buy otherwise anyway. Maybe I should teach the cat to use the toilet to cut down on my plastic bag usage.
  11. theres a bottom dollar a few blocks from my house, shoulda given a heads up for a beer!
  12. This is getting all sorts of homoerotic. I hope gssucks can join!
  13. dynastar slicers with px/axial2 bindings with the worm screw heel. You probably don't NEED the px14/axial2 140, but they have the worm screw heel, and you'd fall in the middle of the DIN range. If they do a 12 DIN with the worm screw heel, that'd work just as well. I prefer the pivots due to a lower stack height and wider AFD more so than the heel, actually. I'll be the first to acknowledge that the px heel skis better, but that's a trade off I make based on my skiing style and years of abusing ski gear.
  14. Honestly freedom, love, and Boulder park are the only things there worth skiing for me. I'd rather mess around on a few jib features than attempt to carve turns down a 200ft vertical no pitch trail. I think most of boulder's target audience would agree. Early season, blue has the capacity to better cater to the "average" skier more than most other places around here if for nothing else than midway to lower main. You can actually get some speed and make some turns before hopping back on the lift.
  15. your definition of grown ass men seems to be a bit loose
  16. Boulder has gotten freedom open in, what, two days with good snowmaking conditions? I see decent conditions for maybe 6-8 hours a few of those days. I don't think that will get them open quite as quick as they've been able to in the past, although I'm hoping they can do it. Also, anything beyond 5 days out is pretty much just based on statistical averages and not necessarily what's actually going on in the atmosphere.
  17. one of the best cat track gaps at Killy, such a shame
  18. Ha wtf happened to snowshed crossover? That trail was a life saver many times.
  19. Gonna go against what everyone else has said and respond to your question with a question. How old are you? How tall are you? How much do you weigh? How aggressive are you? Asking for a gear recommendation without any knowledge of what kind of skier you are is not going to yield good results. That said, pivot/fks bindings are awesome, I use them on all my skis, but I wouldn't put them on my wife's skis. Elastic travel is second to none, but if you're not skiing terrain where you're going to encounter jarring forces or weird side-loading there's not as much benefit in that elasticity. She uses salomon z10's, which ski great and are light weight, but she's not tricking 50 foot jumps or dropping cliffs. I'd venture to guess that a lot of people buying pivots don't need that burly of a binding. Ultimately, if you can be more specific as to your requirements, there's a wealth of knowledge here and people would be glad to help ya out. Just make sure you bring a 6 pack to share if you end up in the bottom lot at blue this winter
  20. i see robert2 got a hold of your return key...
  21. Not sure about the update to frolic, but juggernaut should be a double black. It's the dumbest, most boring trail there aside from sunrise, and you need to be in marathon running shape to ski it because about half of it seems like you're actually going uphill. It'd probably be a great xc trail though!
