huh? Freeskiing was just in the Olympics for the first time ever last year. You think there's gonna be a decline in people buying park skis or snowboards and riding park? I'd bet against that. Pipes are horrendous to maintain, and actually require a good amount of skill to ride properly. Anybody and their mom can hit a small jump or slide a flat box, as is evidenced by rolling through lower at blue on any given weekend. Okemo still has a sizable park, as does Stratton. Heck, Carinthia at mt snow is nothing but park. Membership numbers for newschoolers.com are continually rising, and people take trips to summit county just to ride the parks at key and breck. This stuff is not going away any time soon.

one of us had a few sips, the other was a bit thirstier. Once the holes are drilled, then it's game on haha

I still don't understand why they renamed the town after a dude who didn't even live there

one beer calms the nerves and steadies your hand. Two runs the risk of crooked bindings and stripped screws.

okemo gets a bunch of hate, but you gotta appreciate it for what it is. there's nothing there super gnar difficult, all their steepest trails are groomed. if you like maching down groomers and carving turns, you'll have plenty of fun, as there is a lot of undulation and weird off camber rollovers to keep things interesting in the groomer department. the trees on south face are pretty fun, and will get sun and warm up a little sooner than the rest of the mountain. on a pow day, hit that stuff early. jackson gore has some fun trees too. most importantly, hit up tom's loft apres ski. their nachos are massive, and it's a pretty rad little bar where the longtrail folks tend to frequent with swag.

Shouldn't have to rely on your foot flattening out to relieve instep pressure. My buddy rocks the quest and he has a gnarly gargoyle instep, and he loves em. Salomon makes a killer liner. I'd go back to the shop, bake em, wear em at home a few times, and then see how they feel the first day or two on snow. You really can't get an accurate idea of how a boot fits and what minor tweaks you'll need to do until you ski in it and put it through its paces. My guess is either that instep will pack out a bit or it'll just be a non issue once you've got the leverage of the ski to work with. Worst case, grind the boot board a tad to drop your foot a little bit, on thin out the orthotics or something. Are they podiatrist orthotics or actual ski boot footbeds? If they're dr orthotics that could be a big part of the issue as well; they tend to be pretty voluminous to cram into a ski boot.

What is that material over the top of the foot? If you haven't had the liners heated, you can go to the shop you got them from and see if heating them will help. All that really does is speed up the break in process, it's not really too magical. If the instep is the area of concern, I'd stay away from intuition liners, which are actually pretty thick through the instep since they overlap there. How's the space over your instep with a shell fit? If there's some room there, it's just the liner that's causing pressure which can be packed out. If you don't have room over your instep with a shell fit, you might need to have the boot board shaved a bit to drop your foot 1mm lower in the shell, but that can affect other things too.

Thread jack: when did scooters become acceptable at skateparks?

Really curious to see how this plays into the one wasatch initiative

Just curious, why would you want a loan that long? I get it when your interest rate is 0, but if it's not, and you've got the money, why not just own it outright? I had a good interest rate on my subi, with a 5 year loan, but by putting half down and paying more than the minimum each month, I paid it off in 3 years and saved about 3k by doing so over the life of the loan.

Definitely is. My mom also runs a ski club but didn't mention anything about that date moving back. That's why I was askin.

werent they usable anytime after prez weekend last year? 3/8 is pretty late, considering that's normally about when the place closes for the year, or close to it
-
they have a 21m radius, they'll carve just fine. I didn't ski the 115, I skied something narrower, but I remember them being pretty snappy. But yeah, I'm giving them an ice cream paint job, they're hideous.

VW Tuareg had airbag suspension too. You could raise or lower your ground clearance depending on where you were driving. Not sure who makes the trans for jeep and rolls Royce, but there are plenty of other cars that do the same kinda thing.

new subarus have most of those features as well. iSight is absolutely awesome

Had a new explorer as a rental in Utah two seasons ago that was quite nice. Plenty of room for 5 + gear, not horrendous on gas, comfy seats, the whole nav/Bluetooth deal, and what seemed like decent 4wd. I wouldn't take one over a Toyota, Subaru or Volvo in serious snow, but it was a pretty nice vehicle for a week.

by early, you mean before 2015, right?

If you're still riding park and want a good all mountain ski too, I'm convinced an east coast one ski quiver is not possible. My park ski is always gonna have dull edges, and for general all mountain skiing, unless conditions are stellar or springlike, I want sharp edges. That said, on3p kartel 98 should get the job done for ya

Maybe picking up some AT bindings is a good plan after all

Pretty desperately need new boots this year. I've got 3 years and probably about 150 or so days in my current ones, with lots of trips out west involving plenty of hiking; liners are shot and shells are cracked. If I can swing new skis, sweet. I may grip a set of salomon guardians to out on my on3ps and see if I can snag some skins so I've got an AT setup in case we get some snow again this year, but if not, no biggie. I did get some sweet 3/4 length long underwear things so I'll make sure to wear them every weekend and walk around the lower lot with them and be all euro. Does that get me a test drive if the new BMW?

i'm assuming that photo was taken by his copilot
