Bummed I can't partake in this most joyous of festivities. My day will consist of cleaning floors, primering and painting walls, and drinking just enough beer to make all of that interesting.

blue did the same thing to my skis too. it's scenarios like this when i really miss nestors. big scratches should be filled in with ptex, not just ground out. they just took my skis, ran them over the grinder a few times until most of the scratches were gone, and called it a day. i plan on getting my bases done again before i head out west next, but i'll make sure to fill in anything major myself this time around before handing them off.

speaking of PA locals, Tom got shafted. No disrespect to joss, he's also super talented, but picking an Olympic team member based on essentially one comp win over someone with a solid record of strong results all season long is pretty crappy.

what is the allure of camelback to you, honestly? Fast lifts? Blue has those. Good snow with varied terrain? Frost has that covered. Good parks? You're just kidding yourself. Out of all the local ski areas, camelback is the last I would pay any amount of money to ski at. That said, in on frost, maybe montage. That was a pretty fun $10 Tuesday with root and toast.

if you're already gonna be there, might as well check it out for something new, but i wouldn't say it's worth going to in its own right over blue or frost from a terrain standpoint, and there snow certainly won't necessarily be better either.

where's he coming from? If you get off at the pocono exit, that's the quickest by maybe 5-10 minutes. When coming up from Philly I usually get off at mahoning valley and take back roads. Cuts out maybe 10 minutes if you don't get stuck behind someone on a back road, but it cuts out a lot of miles. -
whistler's park also isn't directly under the most heavily used chair on the mountain either. Whistler's parks are intimidating. Everything is bigger than it is here, with the exception of the super beginner stuff, whereas parks around here are still inviting to be skied as a regular trail. Also, whistler's parks, as well as many other parks up north or out west, are self policing to a degree in that they've reached a critical mass of riders who do know what's going on and someone who's in the way or doing something dumb will pretty quickly get called on it by multiple people. That's not the case here. I'll be the first person to tell some dad that their 3 year old is not safe in the advanced terrain park on a holiday weekend, but I very well might be the only person he hears it from all day here, so there's not much reinforcement going on there. It's a shame park crews here don't have more authority or take the initiative to kindly suggest that everyone would have a better day if you took your 3 year old to the nice mellow green circle trail and not the one with random metal objects and 40 foot jumps. Ok, got my terrain park rant out of the way for the year...

Whiteface in the top 10? Really?

have you heard of this website called pasr?

considerably more expensive, because those flights all charge for checked baggage as well

my past electric bill was almost $200 for a 1000sq. foot apartment. Place is all sorts of drafty. This is by far the most expensive electric bill yet.

what bindings are you putting on the shiros? Also, are they this years shiros or last years?

ask my dad to bust out his old race suit and run some gates.

I'm gonna have to disagree with only one aspect of your write-up: food. Outback pizza is bangin. Also it's a slightly mellower weekend spot than wobbly or pickle if you want to go out but you're not into the full on bro show. The place that used to be grist mill was pretty decent last year. Pretty big, good tap selection and reasonable food. Definitely hit up long trail too, if nothing else it's cool to see, their chili is pretty solid, and they sometimes have some brewpub exclusive stuff.

Also, why Rutland? Get to the access road and pretty much every bar and hotel has a shuttle so you can go get food, beer, and get to the mountain without a car.

yup, scared the shit out of people in the lift line plenty of times with that one

This. If it's not bumped up, skylark is one of the most fun groomers you could ask for. Steep pitch, lots of fall line variation, some rollovers. The stuff of of skye peak is pretty fun too. If you park at snowshed, it's easy to get to needles eye area for a few groomer warm up laps, then move to Skye peak for a while, then hit bear mountain as the sun shifts over there towards the end of the day, where you can grab a beer on the deck and watch people explode trying to ski outer limits. North ridge is a fun area that holds snow pretty well. Power line is a fun trail if you can find it, and there's actually some pretty cool mellower loose trees on ramshead that might be a little more snowboard friendly than stuff like Julio, which is awesome, but steep and pretty tight.

bear mtn is where they normally have their mid season parks set up. Honestly I've never been blown away by killy's parks. They're certainly better than pa, but they're no park city or whistler. Viper pit or whatever it's called now has some good jumps but it's a kinda windy trail like sidewinder, not an ideal trail for a jump line in my opinion. I miss the days of the beach at snowshed; mellow slope, wide lips, and lots of features all in a straight line. Where on the access road are you staying? Lots of places offer free nightlife shuttles. Wobbly and picke barrel are fun but usually have a slightly inflated cover charge. Outback has bangin pizza and usually a good dj on Friday and Saturday nights. Also, stop at long trail and buy lots of brew pub exclusives and bring them back to us at blue
