  1. Very solid choice. I can't justify the 18 DIN since I run my bindings at 10-11. I've got pivot 14s on all my stuff, I wish they made a pivot 15 so I could get the better toe with a pivot heel and a reasonable DIN like they used to.
  2. Good to see somebody else rockin a pair. I've used mine in slush, choppy refrozen crap, fresh snow, to carve groomers, and hit jumps with and they're super versatile. For as light and lively as the ski is, they're quite stable. What bindings did you put on yours?
  3. they've got photos and posts on facebook about snowmaking at frost
  4. Can't wait to go to blue this weekend to train for skiing at blue this season! I didn't know that making a career doing something I enjoy and skiing as much as I can in my free time meant that I sold out. Shit. Edit: just finished a world wide stout and preseason stoke/anxiety is at an all time high. No feelings are meant to be hurt by my post. Let's go ski this weekend. Shadows, lemme know if you're tryin to get up to blue at all. I'll do my best to keep KT from giving you a mullet in the parking lot.
  5. odds on that coming out of their advertising budget?
  6. ill go to Denton if you come back, as long as we can wear temple garments.
  7. raystown is awesome. The bike trails there are some of the most fun I've ridden. It's like a roller coaster.
  8. what, exactly, does this even mean?
  9. why don't you actually look up the forecast for blue before making assumptions? here you go, i did it for you. 7-Day blue mountain parking lot pimpin' forecast: http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?zoneid=PAZ054&zflg=1. Looks like after tonight, every night from tuesday on out is at least a maybe, with almost guaranteed snowmaking temps tuesday and wednesday nights, and possible round the clock snowmaking by the end of the weekend. unless next week is really stupid (it's PA, so you can't rule it out), i'd say black friday opening is pretty feasible.
  10. yup. Talked to some employees up there who figured they'd probably be opening back up on Thursday after a few more nights of snowmaking. 'Twas a successful first day back for me. Got a few tricks back, first 2 on of the season, first overshooting a jump of the season, and somehow, no first fall of the season!
  11. for whatever it's worth, making your own boots costs about 50k per size just for the machining of the molds. That's not counting r&d to get the shape of the shell completely dialed before it's finalized.
  12. why did you ever have padding above your instep? That's a great way to cramp your foot and kill blood flow to your toes. And guitar, weighted is the way to go, in my opinion. Not sure about plaster since I've never had those though.
  13. I'll definitely be doing the park rat thing, by unlike 99% of the people that will be there hiking rails tomorrow, I'm old enough to legally enjoy a parking lot beer with any of you folks who show up.
  14. As a former shop nerd, I'm really curious to see what all he's done to these things. What kind of footbed does he make?
  15. This. If it comes down to a cost issue, often you're better off getting the slightly cheaper boot without the ski/walk feature, removable soles, etc and spending that money on a proper set of custom foot beds if your alignment is off. Your knees and feet will be less sore, get less tired, your skis will feel more responsive and your feet will be warmer.
  16. How heavy, tall, and aggressive are you? The stiffer the boot you need, generally the more expensive it will be. For an in season mid level boot, you'd be looking at 350-450. Stiffer race or free ride oriented boots that are in the 120+ flex range are going to run you $500 and up more than likely. Price aside, make sure you get the boot that fits best, not the 'best' brand, or what you think looks best. It should fit like an even, firm hand shake, not a slipper. Get a boot that's snug and expect to go back for some tweaking after skiing in it a few days.
  17. 27 is a fallacy unless you're in a plug boot, and a few select other boots to fill an awkward size gap, but that usually happens at 24.0 and 28.0. The difference between a 27 and 27.5 is a thicker footbed, which is thrown out the window as soon as you start customizing your boot.
  18. that idea was tossed around a bit probably like 3 or 4 years ago? And yes. Death trap.
  19. Does this shortcut of yours factor in a general disregard for the speed limit? You can make up a loooot of time on that last stretch of 476 and 80
  20. Comcast is not at all just a Philly thing. They're all over the country. While they may offer fast internet speeds, there's a lot of policies of theirs that are pretty terrible from a consumer's perspective, in my opinion. I'm pretty stuck though. It's either comcast or clear for me for internet. I've got clear and get about 8mb/s down, which is kinda slow. The price of quality internet in this area is just all around overpriced.
