  1. the movie was pretty good, the beer was not unreasonably priced, swag was minimal (a pair of footbeds was the top prize) and Ian McIntosh was there. overall, a success, and the tgr folks seemed pretty stoked on philly.
  2. Anyone going? Doors at 7. http://www.thetroc.com/events.php
  3. totally agree with you, and it's awesome that they came out for the start of the season so strong, but I just find it hilarious that they're basically expected to fail this season, as as per Philly sports usual, they don't live 'up' to everyone's expectations, by actually being too good when it would possibly benefit them to suck.
  4. Saturday opening is looking pretty reasonable. Based on years past, probably $20-25 tickets, and maybe the can thing. I'm game, waxing skis right now in preparation.
  5. problem with that is it's actually better for them long term if they suck this year. They've got a contingency on the #1 pick next year, which is supposed to be a much stronger pool than this year, but if they're actually decent, they lose that pick. Leave it to a Philly to to screw up to the point of not even being able to screw up properly. Mcw played well the first three games, but has since come back to the reality of being a rookie. He's good, and has lots of potential, but he's not gonna be almost getting quadruple doubles every game.
  6. survival of the fittest, right?
  7. From a night time mtb ride in wissahickon this evening. At the end of the trail we came to this super old stone stairway.
  8. i'd be willing to bet a lot of those rails hanging out in the woods have been there for years and have since rusted into worthlessness.
  9. Pretty much the only thing I'll have a shop do at this point is a base grind. With the amount of abuse I put my gear through, trying to do that by hand would just suck horribly. Waxing, sharpening, and mounting I do myself though.
  10. wax and sharpen, or full tune? $40 for a full tune, base grind, etc, is not bad. For a wax and sharpen that's way pricy. wax and sharpen, or full tune? $40 for a full tune, base grind, etc, is not bad. For a wax and sharpen that's way pricy.
  11. Is it bad that a Doberman 150 actually feels good straight out of the box for me? I'm sure they'd ski great, but I like some cushion and warmth. Rx130s seem to be working out as a great compromise of snug and responsive vs comfy and warm.
  12. Kinda concerning that they were actively making the boot narrower and it was wide enough that you didn't even feel a difference.
  13. Wait, they'll special order the boot for you, but won't apply their current sale to the price of the boot? That's kinda crappy.
  14. anybody else try this yet? i entered the same email address i've used for this promotion for the past who knows how many years and they're saying i've already entered the promotion. i wonder if they're actually only allowing it for new newsletter subscribers this year?
  15. going well so far. i'm in south philly now, so there are possibilities for after work skiing now, which is sweet!
  16. as of about a month or so ago, yes.
  17. dislike. it was a lovely bike ride in to work this morning. t shirt and a flannel and i was quite comfy. it's probably about time to start wearing gloves for the ride in though.
  18. Doug Lyfe 24/7/365. Parking lot pimpin' ain't easy. Or cheap.
  19. this enough you can definitely feel them though. glad you're going back to real custom footbeds though. a-lines work great for a lot of people, but with all your goofy foot problems, i don't think you're one of those people. it's also much easier to flush mount heaters in custom footbeds too.
  20. convection oven. you don't want to use a regular oven for that or they won't heat evenly. also, you probably shouldn't do this, as it can cause more harm than good if you don't know what you're doing.
  21. 32 boots still use intuition liners, no? a lot of snowboard companies have kinda skimped and said just wearing them and the heat of your foot will mold them, which is true to some degree, but in my opinion, intuition liners feel like crap unless they're properly molded. you're just now doing this? kinda surprised you dealt with that extra bit of material in there. that'd drive me nuts.
  22. by village, you mean bubble. right?
  23. while it's always nice to be able to ski somewhere locally after blue closes, conditions were absolutely horrible that day. pretty sure we just stuck it out til barley creek opened and then drank away our sorrows. i can't think of a positive experience i've had at camelback in years, as far as interactions with the mountain/its employees go. that place finds a way to screw me over every time i'm there.
  24. see ya there
  25. is it me or is there no preseason hype whatsoever in this area this year? no movie premieres, nothing.
