i'd love to hit that up again sometime. i've only ridden it once and it was a lot of fun. when was the last time you were on a bike? that's what i thought.

this was mostly spot on until you mentioned surefoot. first, they're only in mountain towns, so you're paying MSRP for boots. second, they sell their own rebranded versions of other boots, which they usually charge more for. third, if you're looking for custom footbeds, their footbeds aren't truly custom; they're one of maybe 30 predesigned molds that they try to match most closely to your foot shape. also, intuition liners work great for some people. for others, not so much. they're not the cure-all that a lot of people make them out to be. everything else you said is pretty spot on though. source: 11 years of ski industry/bootfitting experience

for your information, the 32 float i had on my xtc is holding up quite well. i just don't own it anymore because a 32mm fork with a QR skewer would just be dumb on my bike.

very productive day up at blue today. built some berms, small drops, jumps, and rollers on the new beginner trail. for anyone who's intimidated, the plan is to make it so anyone who's comfortable with riding somewhere like jordan or nox would be able to ride the green trails at blue. we walked a good portion of the new dirt sculpt flow trail and it looks like it'll be nice and smooth and fast with lots of options to get in the air. still totally rideable even if you've only got a hard tail though. no excuses!

reading that just made sitting in a desk chair today that much more painful. looks like you had an awesome time!

i'd echo pretty much everything johnny said with the exception of the 4frnt thing. marker had that binding on the nordica beast before 4frnt licensed them from vist. i know people that have marker bindings and love them, and the toe and heel on the jester/griffin/duke is a huge upgrade over the previous biometric piece of junk, but i don't trust them. i've personally blown up the biometric toe catastrophically and have seen others do the same. i've got friends who have injured their knees when the binding definitely should have released and it didn't, and others who have almost gotten seriously hurt when it did release and it shouldn't have. this was with the new style binding, not the biometric toe/twincam heel older style. their biggest claim with that binding is that it's got such a wide footprint on the ski, but a px14+ or piivot/fks actually has a wider mounting pattern and AFD than the marker binding. all said and done, i think salomon makes a solid all mountain binding with a safe toe and solid heel. i don't like em for park riding personally, but that's irrelevant here. until something new comes along that blows me away, i'll stick to pivots for all my skis,

yeah, plenty of trail work to be done for the bike park! from my understanding, asking for resumes is probably just a step to mitigate risk and liability. you don't really want any random person to show up and just start hacking away at trees where they think the trail should go. this way, it's a much more organized effort with a clear path to completion when everyone's on the same page. but yeah, email them and say you wanna help with trail work! i helped out a bit last time around for the bike park and it's pretty cool to get to ride trail that you helped build.

wildcat, for being such a short, slow, shitty old lift, has some really awesome terrain. you guys hike up a few hundred feet along that ridge and hit tree jump?

there is definitely already supplemental insurance in existence to handle this sort of thing. as a skier, mountain biker, and surfer, supplemental action sports insurance is definitely something i've considered, i highly doubt joey from staten island would have ever even heard of such insurance.

i could be wrong here... but i've heard rumors of the new trail being a dedicated terrain park trail, which would turn sidewinder back into a regular skiing trail. sidewinder is a terrible trail for a park and pretty much everyone up there knows it, it's just the hand they're dealt right now.

I've met a bunch of drunks who happen to have a skiing problem. We hold meetings every weekend, and you can always count on Mr. Hugo to bring the highest quality refreshments.

kinda cool that they're trying to go about it in the most environmentally friendly, minimally invasive way possible. I'll give them the nod in that they'll definitely have a unique selling proposition having the water park up top where you can actually see the surrounding mountains (hills...), whereas all the other local parks give you a lovely view of parking lots.

this is the most logical thing you've posted on here in a while. if they can undercut dorney a bit on price and provide a 'better' product, i think they could get visitors. including it with a biking pass wouldn't hurt either. i know a lot of guys i ride with have families and i could definitely see them bringing their significant others and kids along for the day to go to the water park while they ride DH. fromt he renderings, it certainly looks 'nicer' than wildwater, from what i remember. not sure if it's in the works or not, but putting in an actual surfable wave pool would be pretty awesome too. that'd at least tie into the 'outdoor adventure' thing they were pushing for a few years back.

pretty sure the skilink thing hit a major roadblock by not getting in front of the senate last year. i believe they need to start the process over because of that, and the politicians who were elected in this past november are not in favor of the legislation. if you read any message boards or comments on websites from that region, the skiing population is overwhelmingly opposed to skilink. not sure if you've ever skied canyons, but he logistics of that chairlift or tram or whatever they want to build make absolutely no sense for the regular skier and will do nothing to lower traffic up BCC. my math might be a little off, but i believe it would take 5 lift rides to get from the canyons base over to solitude, which would probably take over 2 hours, at least, and you'd have to buy a joint ticket on top of that. it's pretty clear it's a land grab on talisker's part to get access to the guardsman are for condo development.

sounds like there's probably lots of great mountain biking around there
