  1. might i be able to hop on those for a few turns if you find yourself at blue this winter? i tried the s7 out at baker last winter and thought they were a bit soft, so i'm curious how the super 7 stacks up. i'm looking to fill some holes in my ski lineup and something similar to that is what i'm looking at. have you rode anything from on3p at all?
  2. that looks like some aspx black magic voodoo to me... which might explain why they're seeing stuff in IE that the rest of the civilized world doesn't see.
  3. i'm at ardmore, kt, adam, brad, dan, dan, tammi, and jon are all at whitehall. other than that, i'm not 100% sure. so yeah, a good bulk of the whitehall staff is the same.
  4. the party for last year's event in KOP was lots of fun. this year's should be even more of a banger. Allentown brew works means much better beer selection! also, there are several athletes that will be there that aren't publicized. plake isn't the only one.
  5. i will vouch for this deal. it saved me several thousand dollars. i guess i probably still owe trevor a beer or something...

    SP pricing is out

unless 8am - 3pm on saturdays and sundays are pretty much the only times you get to ski...
  7. Rope tow laps at a small all-park ski area wouldn't be too big of a deal
  8. stop being logical. yes, i understand improving amenities inside is nice and all, but there's already too many moms occupying 6 person tables all by themselves and taking up seats when at busy times. going into the top lodge for lunch on a weekend and trying to find somewhere to sit down and eat lunch is a chore. spend money on improving seating capacity somehow. i know there's not really anything that can be done about people mobbing up tables for the other 23 members of their family who are out skiing, but it's a bit ridiculous. agreed. crowds i can deal with. if the snow's still good, i'll stay and wait in a lift line. how you can be a ski area and not make trail conditions your top priority, i don't know. people's impressions of your venue carry a lot of weight with their peers, and someone saying the conditions at one mountain were awesome 'powder' vs the typical 'blue is really icy' that i hear very often can go a long way. bottom line: i don't want to run a ski area. way too many people to try and please.
  9. chalk this up as another improvement i could not give less of a shit about. there are so many other aspects that could be improved besides new carpet and countertops in the lodge.
  10. the doubles at blue actually make sense though. most days they don't need the capacity of a quad there. it's really only on crowded weekends and first thing during the season before the lower lodge opens when there's ever a line there. i'd imagine that financially, it makes a lot more sense to only have to run a double chair than a high speed quad.
  11. dibs on spare bedroom. super stoked this is happening again. which movies on what dates? i went both friday and saturday night last year, and it was an awesome time. to anyone who's remotely interested in this year's ski movies, definitely go. the afterparty at brew works alone is worth it. what happens at stoketoberfest stays at stoketoberfest, unless it's a broken heel...
  12. try and fit four people plus ski gear for 6 days of riding in an impreza and let me know how it works out.
  13. $10 split between four guys after the scariest car ride of our lives on a pow day in a crowded lot? best $2.50 i ever spent.
  14. to comment on driving a minivan in utah with chains... i'm going to add it to my list of skills on my resume. as toast said, we rocked a FWD minivan loaded down with four guys and ski gear up LCC to snowbird with about 8" on the ground. scariest drive of my life. we almost slid off the road when i had to pass a delivery truck that was stuck in a ditch on the side. once we got into the lot, we basically all just said f it and paid for valet because we just wanted to get out of the van. i think i was shaking for a solid 15 minutes after we pulled into the lot. that said, the access road up to snowbasin is like a race track compared to LCC road up to snowbird. it's 2 lanes in both directions most of the way with adequate guard rails and signage. sure, visibility is an issue if it's nuking, but it's not like LCC road where you're going around 120
  15. snowbird's got plenty of intermediate groomers; probably some of the most fun groomers i've ever skied. their pass is expensive, but the terrain is awesome. as far as doing things in the city, salt lake doesn't seem to be as 'active' of a city as philly is, but that may be due to the mormon influence. they do do a good job of keeping the roads clear though. park city is fun, and if you were to get a pass somewhere in that area, the canyons would be your best bet. park city has a good park, and jupiter and mcconkeys are good for bumps and trees, and they have a ton of good groomers, but on a pow day, it's probably at the bottom of my list in utah. i never really ran into crowd issues there or canyons. the worst crowds i experienced in utah were alta on a pow day where all the locals are agro and territorial. like people yelling at you to get out of their way on traverses and crap agro. if you take toast's advice and go the snowbasin/powder route, ogden's the closest, which is generally pretty small, kind of a bethlehem/allentown sort of vibe, with a few small, decent breweries in town. basin is about 20 minutes from ogden; powder being a little bit further, but way less crowded. powder's not quite as steep, but you'll be getting fresh tracks for days after a good storm, and the $15 for the snow cat is the best $15 i've spent in my entire ski career. i'm rambling, but if you've got any specific questions, myself, therealkt, t*maki, or toast would all be able to answer, as we've been out to utah a bunch.
  16. how tall are you? it fits me a little snugger than most size large jackets i've tried on.

    bit of an update

ding ding ding! SKI magazine is trash. it does not cater to any demographic other than rich doctors/lawyers/etc who own a vacation home they use for one week a year at deer valley/beaver creek/aspen. no other ski area can possibly be as good to them. nothing against them, as i've never skied them, but i've never met someone who has skied those places as well as others and still agrees with SKI mag.
  18. you left out the off season benefits. the biking, climbing, kayaking, rafting, and pretty much everything else outdoors, except for the beach, is nicer out there too.
  19. http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/8063/noaa20112012forecast.jpg that's the forecast i saw. looking good for the california folks!
  20. tp4, and anyone else not in philly, is he getting radio play outside of philly at all? just wondering, cause he's pretty much 100.3's golden child right now, and i'm not sure if it cause he's friends with their DJs or if he is actually getting national radio play.
  21. i'll just leave this here... http://hypebeast.com/2011/08/jay-z-kanye-west-watch-the-throne-full-album-stream/ thoughts? i'll chime back in later.
