  1. bear creek's gotta be on their for basically everything but terrain and lifts. their park is decent, their snowmaking is pretty good, for how much they get shafted by the weather, their grooming's always seemed pretty good, and they've got the nicest lodge i've ever been to aside from snowbasin, and they're less than an hour from philly. contrary to popular (on here) belief, they've got a lot working in their favor.
  2. jeff, you've got nothing holding you here in PA. do it up. make next year the winter of jeff2.0
  3. you win. that is all. good day, sir.
  4. drunk toast strikes again
  5. i hate you, it's official. not fair, at all.
  6. they'd like his mesh shirts.
  7. you should check out gordon's pond in deleware. i think you'd probably like it.
  8. i guess CO hasn't figured out that it's not winter anymore? i'm super jealous.
  9. Dislike. Bike before/after mayday.
  10. we found some really fun stuff off little cloud this year, it was the first i'd ever really skied that area. that chair is mad old, but somehow kinda comfy too. i miss utah!

  12. i'm surprised no one has mentioned this, but being that a public corporation's sole responsibility is return on investment for it's shareholders, how's that going to play out for boulder pushing the first to open/last to close argument every year? they say themselves that they're only profitable 50% of the fiscal year, and are operating at a loss for part of ski season. while i think it's awesome that they (try to) stay open into april every year, how would a shareholder, who's solely investing in the company for the payout, and not because they are a snowsports enthusiast, take them operating at a loss? is this even something that would be up for debate on a shareholder vote? i don't own any meaningful amount of stock, so i'm really not sure how these things work.
  13. Filthy pirate hooker. That drop looks like stupid amounts of fun.
  14. you've got every right to be angry about somebody clipping your kid. my dad would have done the same thing if it was me or my brother when we were younger, so i totally understand your point there. that said, are you just lumping the offender into the 'park rat' category because he was on a snowboard? did you actually see him riding park? extreme isn't near any of the parks except the baby park, so how are you so sure he is a 'park rat'? as someone mentioned, not everyone who rides a snowboard or twin tip skis rides park, as is evidenced by many people on this site. bottom line, it doesn't matter where you prefer to ski. i like to ride park when i'm on the east coast, some people like to rip steep groomers and make lots of turns. what matters is that some people just suck at life, in all aspects, and have no respect for other people. don't cut me off on the inrun to a jump and i won't bother with your race training when i'm skiing a groomer with my parents. some of us park rats are actually pretty good skiers who don't just go around plowing race kids for fun like you seem to think. oh, and get off my lawn.
  15. Thanks jeff
  16. reading comprehension skills are a little lacking today... my bad.
  17. your kid is only 11? geeze! i thought he was 14 or 15 based on how tall he is. you hit it spot on though with the serial trouble. it's technically sold as an adult ski, but the flex is toned down a notch compared to the trouble maker (now 6th sense superpipe) or the other real adult skis. the freeride/twin tip market is killing it in this segment because you really do get a decently skiing ski with the right flex for someone that age/size, whereas with a traditional all mountain ski, your offerings are a bit more limited, mostly due to ski length. there's a bunch of skis that fall into this category, like the rossi s2, k2 press, silencer, and something else they have coming out for next year, line mastermind, etc. they're all around 80-85mm waist and are going to be pretty much the best do-everything ski you can find for somebody who's in between a 'kids' ski and an 'adult' ski.
  18. no need for the seths in a 189 to ski at blue, and they worked just fine in everything else i used them in this year as well.
  19. timeless, check out the k2 bad seed. it's got an 85mm waist so it'll work well in the fresh snow you guys get out there as opposed to most kids skis, which are pretty narrow, but you've got him on mantras now so you already know the benefit of that. you'd probably be splitting hairs between the 139 and 149 if he's a solid skier, honestly. if you're looking for something even wider, they make the bad apple, which is 100mm waist and full powder rocker, but that's probably overkill. basically a little kid's hellbent.
  20. i haven't skied on them, but i tried out the s7, and flexed the super 7 in a shop. i'm on 179 obsetheds for my all mountain ski now, and the 195 super 7s really didn't seem that much longer, but do they actually ski a lot stiffer than the s7?
  21. how can you have a stellar race team at bear creek? don't those kids get slaughtered when they go anywhere with any reasonable amount of vert or pitch? bear's got good snowmaking, a nice lodge/bar, and sometimes a decent park, and that's about it.
  22. i hope you entered that one in glenn's photo contest. seriously one of the coolest looking shots i've seen in a while. and i'm really jealous that you're skiing that and i'm skiing big boulder this weekend.
  23. what makes you think this will be the last weekend for boulder? they've stayed open longer in previous seasons. with cbk closing, that just means everyone who still wants to ride locally gies to boulder, and they can continue turning a profit.
  24. honestly, i'd hit mount snow over hunter at this point. i was at hunter a few weeks ago and the amount of terrain that was open seemed pretty limited to me, and a lot of the more difficult trails are all essentially the same. mount snow is really not much longer of a drive at all either. it can be done from the valley in about 4 hours pretty easily.
  25. what happened when you bought your boots online? then what happened when you bought your boots in a shop? did your skiing improve? i'm as guilty as anyone for buying stuff online (chainlove is my go-to for bike gear) and i work at a shop, but there's some things that, regardless how good the price might seem online, are not worth buying online. we're (PASR users) also generally a lot more educated about gear than your average consumer, so i think long term, while sites like steep and cheap and chainlove are good for people who know exactly what they're looking for, the lack of personal service you get when shopping online is not a good thing for the industry. while it's sad to see nestors close it's doors since it's been a huge part of my life for more than a decade, at least it's being replaced by another family owned operation that still cares about their customers. i can't speak about the employees of buckmans, since i only know a few of them personally, but the people that have worked at nestors over the years have become some of my best friends and favorite people to ski, bike, surf, and hang out with. i hope that everyone involved with buckmans whitehall moving forward share the same passion for the sports that we love and participate in as everyone at nestors does. i guess i'll let this be my public thank you to pete and karen for a bunch of years of employment, lots of education about the ski industry, and plenty of good times.
