  1. go to blue, there's 3 dfd rails and one dfd box.
  2. you're older.
  3. pretty sure it was kelly clark. went for a cork 9 and got all squirrely and kinda double corked it but didnt stick it. i think dumont kinda redeemed himself after the comp was over and they were interviewing him and olenick. he actually seemed genuinely happy that since he didn't win, olenick did, but they're roommates so i guess it makes sense. i'd kinda be bummed about not being able to ski to my full ability after what looked like a crash that should have paralyzed him a few days ago. you realize she's 6'3, right? i'm a little over 6'...
  4. to all you kids asking for a flat up flat... you snowboard, don't you? toast is right, that's asking for death if you ski. i havent been to bear in about two weeks, but last time i was there, the dfd was pretty fun. its nice and low to the ground and good to learn stuff on before taking it to a bigger dfd.
  5. this was one section that we hit today. i think 3rd run today. give it half an hour to process, jeff feel free to edit this so it's just the video.
  6. that was at the walmart supercenter compound in centrrville utah on the way up to ogden. the store took up an entire city block. uploading a teaser video right now...
  7. so to start the trip off right, we're sitting at my apartment, just got back from belgian cafe, and toast is passed out in the chair, and t*maki is near passed out on the sofa. flight leaves at 1230 tomorrow, so we'll probably hit up something really unhealthy for lunch so toast and kt can stink up the airplane. stay tuned...
  8. you are not alone. lets go drink and start this trip off right.
  9. if you're not trying to compare one area to the next, why didn't you put this in the general forum instead of in the blue forum? i'm not saying you can't have nice manmade snow, but manmade snow is not pow. regardless of how good it is, the water content and density of it is not the same as what falls from the sky. 6" of manmade rides nothing like 6" of natural snow. 6" of manmade is not boot deep when you're making turns in it. i needed edges at blue on sunday because everything got soft on saturday then refroze saturday night. it was not icy for the most part, just refrozen firm snow. anything that doesnt slide park rails worked fine, even if it didn't have 3
  10. yeah today was pretty fun. hugo, the people on the lift with us were BMTroubleMaker(korey) and our friend ryan, who may or may not be on here. the bumps on nightmare are making progress. apparently they're letting chris and jonny set them since blue doesn't have anyone with the experience to do so or something like that, so we stepped out a little bit of nightmare with them to break up the infant-sized snow boulders that blue calls moguls. they should be pretty fun in a day or two after than get packed and can blow some snow on them though.
  11. i could be wrong, but i think there's a general consensus that unless it's falling from the clouds, it's sure as hell not powder. and robert, you only going to blue on a friday night is not a fair judge of their snow conditions. i've gone up to boulder friday nights (not a direct comparison since frost isnt open at night) and everything there has been just as bad as the worst of the worst that you experienced at blue. this year especially, conditions have been really good at blue. yesterday was the first day this year that i really really needed a ski with sharp edges. up until then, i've had no trouble carving turns on my park skis with edges rounded off and sticking out of the base.
  12. expect this *10 next week.
  13. that will probably happen this weekend. 2nd jump looks like perfection, as does the down rail that's set up where the cannon box was last year. did you talk to mauser about getting a ride home this weekend? i thought he said he was coming home?
  14. clean the sand out and go ski. a ski boot is essentially a cast, so there's no better spot for your foot to be. it'll be like putting on a cast and icing it at the same time! just take a few shots when the day's over so you can't feel how much it's gonna hurt to get your foot out of the boot. good thing you've got bucket boots now and not those blue lange L10s anymore huh?
  15. i went up right after work cause kev registered me for the rail jam on central. i hadn't even seen any of the stuff in there yet, so i figured why not go up and check it out. the setup for the first staircase is really nice. rails are still a little sticky since they're brand new, but the dfd will be awesome once it gets broken in a bit. i took a grand total of one lift right last night, and that was up the 6pack after the comp was over. snowboarders were having a much easier time dealing with the stickiness of the dfd, lots of kids trying 3 out of the flat, not lots of kids landing them though hah. kev ended up getting first, i got 2nd, little miller got 3rd. it was a fun setup and a fun comp, good job park crew. sidewinder looks awesome too.
  16. some girl probably stomped his foot when his running man started turning into a humping man. a little drunk last night doug? your posts aren't usually that grammatically atrocious.
  17. last year they had a separate ticket for this that they handed out in the lodge for passholders. my main concern is, will there be any sort of free beverages involved...
  18. i sold him one ha. seriously, the thing is awesome. hopefully plenty of full 1080p hd footy coming from utah next week if it actually starts snowing

    Airbag

and that sounds like what's wrong with this country? why is every idiot allowed to sue someone for their own lack of ability/common sense? in no way is the airbag a guarantee that you're not gonna get hurt. if you catch an edge on the lip, it's gonna hurt, regardless of what you're landing on, and in no way is it even related to the airbag itself if dude can't manage to hit a small jump.
  20. 2" is not a powder day.
  21. usasa is open to skiers. in my opinion, it's not worth it unless you do the whole regional series in hopes of making it to nationals. you have to join usasa to do the comps, which is like $50 or $60, and then there's the comp fee on top of that, which if i remember correctly was $25 or $30, plub bib deposit, so expect to drop about $100 initially to do the bear comp if you're not already usasa. you'll get some of that back when you return your bib. that said, skier competition is nonexistent, and therefor it's very easy to do well, but there's no reward. you're not competing against the best, and their prizes suck. i placed top 3 in every usasa comp i did for an entire season and in total, pulled in a can of swix rub-on wax, a backpack, and a t-shirt, and the backpack i won in a raffle. if you're serious about it, and have the funds to travel to nationals and get exposure out there, and can commit to every event on the schedule (or are least place well in enough of them to lock in first place for the series) then go for it. if you just wanna do it because it's a comp at bear, it's not worth it at all.
  22. i hope that graphic with the jetstream sitting over salt lake means we get dumped on out there next week.
  23. yeah they look super under-vert. like, near impossible to air out and not deck.
  24. it was confirmed on ichat last night.
  25. we're going somewhere tuesday night after work, either bear or blue, you're welcome to catch a ride up if you can get to my work.
