  1. initially, yeah, they're expensive, but they last forever.
  2. well, yes and no. they're still doing the PX series, and keeping the high end PX (14, 15, 18) for racing applications. the PX heel, when its metal-reinforced, is must more laterally rigid than the pivot heel. for all-mountain carving, my PX's definitely feel better, which is why they'll be going on my obsetheds. for park skiing though, the pivot heel wins hands down for durability and how low your boot sits on the ski. totally agree on the hoarding though, i could have made bank selling what i've got now haha
  3. so... do you have a job, and if so, how do i get one like it that pays me enough to do this while still taking several days in a row off work whenever i want? more than 2 weeks vaca a year would be stellar.
  4. there are a bunch that are not psia certified. i've never taken the psia tests, so i can't vouch for what they teach you during that, but there are definitely some instructors up there who can ski pretty well. the instructor training course was a huge waste of my time, but i had already had instructor training for other sports when i took it, so maybe that's why. being a good skier and being able to teach someone how to ski aren't always the same thing. there's plenty of NFL or NBA or MLB coaches who played, but never made it to the pro level, and are now great coaches.
  5. run that through your mind when you're picking your way down a sketchy line out in jackson later this winter when every little movement you make could have a very big affect on how you make it to the bottom of the hill.
  6. ugh the weather blows. i think killy is out for me this weekend. i don't feel like driving 5 hours to ski what very well may be a sheet of ice. hopefully something local opens with a few rails, but i'm not counting on it.
  7. yeah i was just wondering, cause running your DIN at 6, you don't want pivots. the 14 goes 6-14 i believe, maybe 5-14, but ideally you want to be in the middle of the DIN range, so the 12 DIN binding is appropriate. depending on when you got your PX jibs, they've beefed up the heel since you bought yours. also, if you're prereleasing, i'd be willing to bet its more a forward pressure issue than DIN. the first gen PX without the metal reinforcement on the heel seemed to have some forward pressure issues when they came out. yours are the black/neon green right?
  8. you're obviously not the target market for this thing. it's designed for people to learn/perfect tricks on before taking them to a regular jump, not for people who have never hit a jump before and don't have a clue what they're doing. if you're having issues with hitting sweet spot on landings, start in the smallest park/smallest features on the mountain wherever you're at and hit those until you are comfortable enough gauging your speed that you can hit sweep spot every time. from there, move onto bigger/different types of jumps.
  9. just curious, how high do you run your din and what bindings have you been using? the px heel functions the same way as the pivots do, in theory. it's just not as bomber.
  10. if they do open i might actually be interested in checking it out. never been to the place, and probably won't ever go any other time haha
  11. i hope you're right about that one. it would be pretty annoying to have to make sure i've got cash or my credit card on me every day i wanted to hit the airbag. once and done for the season will speed things up considerably too. now if only there's some way to get around this no inverts crap... what's their official wording on 'inverted aerial maneuvers,' does anyone know? like, as long as your head stays above your hips you're fine, or what?
  12. pretty sure it is actually insured as if it were an amusement park ride, and that someone up there had to take a cert. exam to get his amusement park operators license or something along those lines. top lodge, not top of the lifts
  13. does anyone else read this with the voice of apu from the simpsons in their head...?
  14. that's the beauty of tahoe and utah. if you're in salt lake, you've got almost 10 ski areas within an hour in any direction. even if you're staying up in PC, it's not much more than an hour and a half to the stuff north of ogden if they end up getting a storm that misses PC or BBC/LCC.
  15. i havent been up north at all this year, but as far as what i've been checking for philly and for the jersey shore all summer, they've been pretty spot on.
  16. i find that noaa seems to be most accurate. not that their forecast is looking much better, at all. http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?CityName=Palmerton&state=PA&site=PHI&textField1=40.8012&textField2=-75.617&e=0
  17. so they're keeping the ticket checkers at the top and bottom lodge, as well as checking tickets at all the lifts? that's going to get pretty annoying. if they're checking at the lifts, they don't really need to be checking at the lodges, aside from people who would hike the lower park. i appreciate all the money they've put into legitimately making the mountain a better place for riding, but some of this is getting a little ridiculous.
  18. blue generally takes 4-5 days, since they've got a bit more vert to cover than boulder does. they don't open unless they can get the main street chair running, so its about 800 vertical feet or so to get covered, and that's over 3 separate trails.
  19. the fact that someone up there is going to have a gun is terrifying. bouncers at clubs/bars in philly do not have guns. why does someone at a ski area need to have one? also, no inverts with the airbag? i expected there to be an additional fee for that to keep the morons away, but lets be honest here, the thing is basically designed so you can learn inverted crap without completely risking your neck. if anything that thing should bring their insurance rates down since ideally, people learn tricks there before trying them on a real jump instead of just going into it blindly with no clue how to actually stick their landing.
  20. wow, i thought you were in middle school... anyway, nothing at blue pays all that well, and i really don't think there are that many people that work there for the money alone. the benefits are nice. security doesn't seem to really do all that much aside from tell people where they can't park and occasionally throw the reckless drunkard out of the bar. why don't you try and work park crew? then you could be on the hill while working, and you're working towards something that will ultimately benefit you. plus, the more park crew the better.
  21. 179cm obsethed's came! just waiting on some p14's til i'm ready to roll.
  22. last year's ski pants. 'nuff said.
  23. it's very disgusting and in no way reminds me of camelback. like toast said, it looks like an 'M'.
  24. am i the only one that hates camelback's new logo?
  25. let's hope you're right that it is something big, lows are down into the teens those last few days.
