  1. or maybe not.
  2. and undoubtedly, your ass would have gotten sued, instead of bruised. ttc6 i can completely relate to what you described, i've done the same thing at blue, and so have many of the crew i ride with. obviously, riding park comes with inherent risk, but we shouldnt be putting ourselves at a greater risk because some ignorant parent allows their 6 year old to flail around the terrain park with their edgy wedgy and dog-style harness. unfortunately, a lot of people don't have basic common sense, and a park pass is one way to help enforce what common sense should already provide. i'm sick of having to calmly tell parents they're the ones in the wrong when getting screamed at for almost hitting their kid who was sitting on the landing of a 40 foot jump.
  3. that's too easy. to be effective, there needs to be a concerted effort on the end user to actually acquire the pass, regardless of whether its free or for pay. i still think stratton's solution is the best option. watch a 10-15 minute terrain park safety video, for free, to get the park pass. its good for the season. for passholders, this would occupy such a small percentage of their on-mountain time it would be trivial, but for a family of 5 that takes two or three day trips a year, getting 3 kids to sit through a 15 minute video would just be such an exorbitant pain that unless they really, truly wanted to ride park, they wouldn't waste the time. barb, please make this happen.
  4. park passes might have gotten a little easier to accomplish with some of the new changes up there.
  5. while this airbag thing will probably be a lot of fun, i'd rather have seen the (most likely ridiculous amount of) money spent on more quality rails and boxes and more snowmaking to provide better conditions and better built jumps. a properly built jump, even a really big one, can be relatively safe. i'm just having a hard time imagining actually sticking a landing on the airbag, like how are you gonna ride out and not just double eject and smear your face?
  6. you attach the winch to a regular cat sitting on the landing of the jump. by being able to do that, you're also ensured that the landing is nice and wide, since you've gotta be able to fit a cat on either side of the lip to get it to the deck.
  7. in theory, yes. however, that's also entirely dependent on how much snow they can blow. to really make use of a winch cat, they're have to blow a ton more snow than they had last year, otherwise you'd just end up with short, steep landings. i could be wrong here, but i think a big push for the snow cat was to be able to properly groom the steeper sections of challene/razors so they can go slower and make the trail smoother.
  8. you'll figure it out soon enough, you know enough people up there
  9. don't think you've gotta worry about that one anymore...
  10. sadly, they still have the bus.
  11. the back corner of the kmart lot in the shopping center behind nestors is pretty secluded/no one ever goes back there besides nestors employees.
  12. 12 times early/late season at $25 a lift ticket (what they were charging last year, i believe) would equal the 300 for a pass. considering you'll have about a month at boulder before bear opens, and about a month at boulder after bear closes, plus a few times throughout the season, the pass could easily be worth it, if you think you'll get up there often enough. i rode boulder and bear a bunch last year, and boulder is consistently better than bear is, in all aspects except that their chairlifts are really uncomfortable. they have much better jumps, much better rails, generally better snow, and a longer season. the only downside for you is the drive.
  13. way to promote haha
  14. picked up a pair of sessions pants at ski mania tonight. 40%-50% off all leftover outerwear and skis/boots.
  15. yes. if you really want to work on something, you're hiking it over and over. just like a rail when you're working on a trick, you're hiking it 10-20 times, and hiking the whole distance of the pipe that many times blows. i would definitely ride pipe a lot more if blue had a surface lift for it.
  16. the sale starts tonight at 5 and goes through sunday.
  17. you're spoiled coming from okemo... but in all honesty, on the rare occasion they actually cut the pipe, its not that bad. its better than bear's ever was. they just need to cut it a lot more frequently since it gets wrecked from all the freeze/thaw cycles we get where one side will be slush and the other is solid ice.
  18. you could take your gear in to nestors and have it ready for september
  19. i didn't die or brake anything. i'll count it as a success. lets hope they open for non-racing soon, it was super fun.
  20. are they still allowing people to ride even with all the rain?
  21. something about the way the date is displayed at the bottom makes this look like a prison lineup shot
